Ron Norman won the 2014 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Arizona State championship last year in a Late Model at Tucson Speedway, and he put that experience to good use in his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series West start at his home track.

Norman earned his first career Coors Light Pole Award for the NAPA Auto Parts Wildcat 150, leading the field with a fast lap time of 15.794 seconds (85.475 mph) to grab the top spot and edge second-place Brandon McReynolds who finished his lap at 15.979/84.486.

Sprint Cup regular Joey Logano won the Winn Dixie 300, his 24th victory in 140 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races.

This is his third NXS victory and fifth top-10 finish in 2015. It is his second victory and sixth top-10 finish in six NXS races at Talladega Superspeedway. Logano, who started the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang 16th in the lineup, led 40 laps of the 113 lap event.
May 2 - 7:51 PM

Jeff Gordon posted a lap of 194.793 mph and won the pole for the Geico 500. It is his fourth pole at Talladega and his 80th overall.

After leading the field three times at Talladega, Gordon has one victory, another third-place finish, and a 33rd. His poor result came after sustaining crash damage, which proves there is no place to hide. However, Gordon had nearly 3/10ths of a second over teammate Kasey Kahne and that might give him greater maneuverability to keep him at the head of the draft.

ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards rookie Blake Jones gave Cunningham Motorsports two straight wins at Talladega Superspeedway, taking the lead from teammate Tom Hessert on the final lap of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200 Friday night.

Jones took the lead on the final restart of the race, surviving four cautions and a red flag to pull in front of his Cunningham Motorsports teammate when Hessert ran out of gas after taking the green and white flag together. Venturini Motorsports driver Cody Coughlin, in the No. 55 JEGS Toyota, was second after winning the Menards Pole Award while Cole Powell was third in the No. 58 Lira Motorsports Ford. Brandon Jones, in the Tide-Menards Toyota, finished fourth with Russ Dugger trailing in fifth.

Greg Biffle posted the fastest single lap in final practice for the Geico 500. His top speed was 197.929 mph.

Biffle was more than two mile per hour slower than teammate Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the first practice session, but that was a factor of the size of the draft, plus when and how the No. 16 caught it.
May 1 - 5:28 PM

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. posted the fastest single lap in the first practice session for the Geico 500. His top speed was 200.780 mph.

Fastest laps at Talladega are recorded in the draft and are not generally indicative of strength or the lack thereof. Topping 200 mph was notable accomplishment, however.

AJ Allmendinger practiced for about three-fourths of the first session at Talladega SuperSpeedway and then headed for the golf course.

Allmendinger was 11th on the speed chart near the end of the session, but was obviously happy with the handling characteristics of his car. Last year, he finished fifth in this race, but was 23rd in the fall.
