Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Lilly Diabetes 250 a lap of 181.939 mph driving the #18 NOS Energy Drink Toyota Camry.

This is his 54th pole in 322 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races. It is his sixth pole and 11th top-10 NXS start in 2016 and his fourth pole in five NXS races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). Sprint Cup driver Kyle Larson (2nd) posted his seventh top-10 NXS start of 2016 and his second in four NXS races at IMS. Daniel Suarez (3rd) posted his second top-10 start at IMS and his 18th in 18 NXS races this season.

William Byron (#9 Liberty University Toyota Tundra) finished 14th in Wednesday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Aspen Dental Eldora Dirt Derby 150 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

He started 18th in the lineup and completed all laps of the 150-lap event. Byron continues as the points leader in the 2016 NCWTS championship standings, leading Matt Crafton (finished 10th in the race) by 9 points.

He started 22nd in the lineup and completed all of the 150 laps run. Crafton, who competed in all 11 series races so far this season, is currently 2nd in the 2016 NCWTS Championship standings after this event, 9 points behind leader William Byron.

He started 10th in the lineup and completed all of the 150 laps run. Bell, who won this race in 2015, advanced two spots to 6th in the 2016 NCWTS Championship standings after this event.

Chase Briscoe raced hard to get there, but once he got the lead, the Mitchell, Indiana rookie drove away from his closest challengers to win the Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 presented by Jive Friday night at Lucas Oil Raceway.

Briscoe (#77 Big Tine Ford) won the race off pit road on lap 70 of the 200-lap race, then fought off the pack over several restarts to earn his third consecutive victory on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards tour. He dominated with 131 laps-led overall. Rookie Travis Miller (#8 MDM Hillman-Ranier Racing Chevrolet), making his career-first ARCA start, eventually raced his way around Myatt Snider for the second position, but couldn't find Briscoe once he got there. Miller finished second nearly 10 seconds away from the winner. Snider, in the No. 22 Original Louisiana Hot Sauce Ford, finished third.

Kyle Larson has made two previous starts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and so far he has not failed to crack the top 10. He posted the fourth-fastest time in final practice and could be en route to another strong finish.

Larson won the Eldora Speedway Camping World Truck Series race on Wednesday, which gives him a lot of momentum and confidence entering the weekend. Larson should be a dark horse to finish in the top 10 in the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard.
Jul 22 - 9:52 PM

Jamie McMurray hopes to regain the top 10 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time in five years. His last solid run on this track came in the 2011 Brickyard 400 when he finished fourth. He won the year previous.

McMurray’s best result since then was a 15th and that is the range where he practiced on Friday. He is coming off a solid run at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, however, and could defy predictions. He is a good fantasy pick only if he fits one’s final niche.
Jul 22 - 9:37 PM

Michael McDowell improved by nearly 10 positions in Friday’s two practice sessions. He was 31st fastest in the morning session with a lap of 175.829 mph and was 22nd-best in the afternoon at 180.839.

Most drivers focused on qualification runs in the first session and race trim in the afternoon. Some notable drivers who McDowell passed included Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Matt Kenseth—all of whom should out-qualify him on Saturday. Still, jumping up the speed chart will contribute to a level of confidence.
Jul 22 - 9:32 PM

Ryan Ellis and Josh Wise had the slowest time among the non-charter teams with an average ranking of 39.5 on the speed chart for the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard on Friday. They will battle on Saturday to see which of them races and who goes home.

Wise might have a slight advantage because his time was posted in the first practice session, which had conditions closer to what the drivers will face on Saturday. In either event, these drivers will not be great values as they should only move up with attrition on Sunday.
Jul 22 - 9:25 PM

Ryan Newman posted the fifth-fastest time in the first practice session for the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard on Friday and was fourth-fastest in Happy Hour. His best lap was set at 183.767 mph during his final trip around the track.

Newman’s first eight attempts at Indy began on one of the first four rows. Last year, he started last, but still managed to finish 11th. He won the pole in 2013 and started fourth in 2014, which suggests he will roll off the grid with the leaders this Sunday.
Jul 22 - 8:30 PM

Kevin Harvick posted the fourth fastest lap in the first practice session for the Crown Royal 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was second fastest in final practice, which gave him consistency throughout Friday.

Harvick did not make a 10-lap run in either session, which suggests he was primarily working on race trim. Track position is important, but given the trouble this team has had in the pits, it is much more likely that he wants to give his crew an advantage on Sunday.
