So far in 2014 Jimmie Johnson is batting 0.500 in regard to flat track top-10s. His best results have come at Martinsville with a second and a pair of sixths at Phoenix and Pocono.

Johnson’s worst finish on this track type was a 42nd at New Hampshire after the team experimented on low air pressures. He lost two tires early and crashed, which leaves fantasy players wondering just how much the team will gamble until the Chase begins.
Jul 30 - 5:55 PM

Travis Kvapil has been consistent on flat tracks this year, but he has not been particularly strong. In five starts he finished between 33rd and 39th four times. His best effort was a 29th in Pocono.

Kvapil skipped the New Hampshire race two weeks ago so he is also lacking some recent momentum as well. Fantasy players may want to look elsewhere for a dark horse that is more likely to score a top-30.

Austin Dillon is improving on flat tracks and that gives him an opportunity to score back-to-back top-10s for the first time in his career. Last week he finished 10th at Indy.

In his first three flat track races this season, Dillon had 20-something results at Phoenix and Richmond. His last three attempts on this track type ended in a 17th at Pocono, a 14th at New Hampshire, and last week’s 10th. His odds of scoring a second top-10 are less than 50 percent, but he could be a great value with a top-15.
Jul 30 - 5:17 PM

Tony Stewart lost one of his best opportunities to win a race last week in Indy. Complaining of a loose condition, he dropped from sixth on the grid to 17th at the checkers.

Pocono has traditionally been a strong track for him and he has another good chance to win at Watkins Glen International, but fantasy players will have a hard time ignoring the fact that he has not scored a top-five in 15 weeks. He finished fifth in the March running of the Auto Club 400.
Jul 30 - 4:56 PM

Ryan Newman has not only been one of the most consistent drivers at Pocono, he has shown a lot of strength in the past six years. He enters the weekend with a 12-race, top-15 streak on this triangular track of which four were top-fives.

Most importantly, two of his Pocono top-fives came last year and his worst effort in the past four races was a seventh he earned this June. At his salary cap level in most games or in Yahoo!’s Group B, he is one of the best values this week.
