With a lap of 183.404 mph, Kyle Larson failed to advance to the second round of qualification in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and will roll off the grid 25th.

Larson has had to come from the back of the pack in the last two weeks—once because of a penalty and once when he did not clear inspection. This is his first time to qualify badly, which should cause some concern for fantasy owners.

Kevin Harvick posted the second-fastest speed in final practice for the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway at 185.824 mph.

As a veteran, it is more likely that he has something up his sleeve than the rookie Erik Jones and that makes him one of the favorites for the pole Saturday afternoon.

Kyle Busch posted the second quickest speed in final practice for the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway at 180.864 mph in his first 10 laps on the track.

Dalton Sargeant (No. 77 Big Tine Ford) drove underneath Michael Self with eight laps to go, then scooted away to win the Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 Friday night at Lucas Oil Raceway.

He also caught a break when Mother Nature intervened late in the going with just enough rain to bring out the final caution on lap 174. Sargeant darted onto pit road for four fresh General Tires with 20 laps remaining and, once the brief shower let up, took off like a rocket when the green flag unfurled for the final time on lap 189 of the 200-lap race. When Sargeant got to Self, a great two-wide battled ensued for nearly two laps before Sargeant finally cleared the former leader for good. In the end, Sargeant beat Self to the line by a full second.

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Andy Seuss and longtime car owner Eddie Harvey announced that they have mutually decided to part ways.

After joining Eddie Harvey racing midway through the 2011 racing season, Seuss brought the No. 11 team their first win together in just their third race. In time the driver/team combination raked in victory after victory on the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, culminating in back-to-back championships in 2014 and 2015. But NASCAR Modified racing changed at the start of the 2017 season, and the visions of both Seuss and Harvey changed as well. While it was tough for both men, they have decided that this is what is best going forward.
