Go Green Racing announced Maryeve Dufault, the first female Canadian to race in NASCAR, will race for the team at the upcoming September 14th Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.

Dufault was born in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, to a racing family. Maryeve grew up racing motorcycles and go-carts, winning several championships, then transitioned to open wheel competing in various series. In 2010, Dufault made the switch to stock car racing. She entered two of the prestigious rounds of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series -- Trois-Rivieres and Montreal. Most recently she has competed in the ARCA stock car series in the United States.(Go Green Racing)-jayski.com

Kevin Harvick blew an engine in Saturday’s practice for the Folds of Honor Quik Trip 500. He will be forced to the back of the pack when the team makes an engine change. He will give up his outside pole start. Prior to blowing, Harvick had the fastest single lap of practice at 191.054 mph.

Under normal circumstances that might be a huge deficit, but with Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, and Tony Stewart failing to post a qualification lap, there will be a lot of drivers coming from the back.

Sprint Cup regular Joey Logano will not only start Sunday's Sprint Cup Series race on the pole but he also won the Coors Light Pole Award for today's XFINITY Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

His lap of 184.162 mph in the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang earned him his 27th pole in 136 NASCAR XFINITY Series races. It is his first pole in five XFINITY Series races at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Since joining Michael Waltrip Racing in 2012, Clint Bowyer has consistently struggled at Atlanta. His career-best finish with this team was a 27th in 2012 and his last two efforts ended in the high 30s.

Bowyer has not gotten off to a much stronger start this week with a 25th-best effort in qualification. That position would probably have been worse if not for 13 cars that failed to clear the inspection line, so Bowyer is probably best left in the garage. His all-time career best on this track is sixth, which he earned four times. The most recent occasion was back in 2009.

Michael Annett will replace Brian Scott in the No. 33 this week, according to a tweet from the track.

Annett is attempting to run the entire schedule while Scott is not and he was one of the 13 drivers who failed to clear inspection yesterday. He will take his sponsor to the No. 33 and add some resources to the lightly-funded team. Annett will have to start at the back of the pack due to the driver change, but his starting position will officially be listed as 32nd and games that offer place differential points will be based on that.

The No. 44 that Travis Kvapil was scheduled to drive this weekend at Atlanta has been recovered, according to tweets from the team’s account. The car was jettisoned without any damage, but the thieves apparently kept the trailer, spare engine, and parts.

The car was probably the most difficult piece to sell, but it was also the most expensive. Team 44 has plans to be in Las Vegas next week for the Kobalt 400.

When Tony Stewart failed to clear inspection Friday afternoon, it forced him to take a position based on owner points. He will roll off the grid 39th, which is the worst he has ever started at Atlanta.

His next-worst start came in 2001 when he rolled off the grid 35th. He blew an engine five laps from the end and finished 27th. Stewart also finished second once after starting 32nd, so all hope is not lost.

Sprint Cup regular Brad Keselowski is fastest in Final Practice for the Camping World Truck Series Hyundai Construction Equipment 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

At 178.695 mph in the No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150, he was the fastest of the 31 trucks out on the track for the final practice. No. 4 Erik Jones, No. 13 Cameron Hayley, No. 51 Daniel Suarez and No. 05 John Wes Townley are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 6 Norm Benning was the slowest.

Dozens of drivers failed NASCAR inspection in their first attempt and were forced to go around and try again. Thirteen of them failed to make a time trial lap, including such big names as Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Tony Stewart, and Jeff Gordon.

Regan Smith, Jeb Burton, Cole Whitt, Landon Cassill, and Alex Bowman were also affected, but they had enough owner points from last year to make the show. The same was not true for Reed Sorenson, Mike Wallace, Matt DiBenedetto, and Michael Annett. They are the four drivers who will miss the show.

One week after winning the Daytona 500, Joey Logano posted a lap of 194.683 mph and earned his first career pole at Atlanta. His speed was more than a tenth of a second faster than second-place Kevin Harvick.

Logano’s best start prior to today was ninth in 2012. He finished 18th that weekend. In 2013 he finished second after posting his second-best time trial effort of 11th. Logano has proven that momentum is a powerful force in NASCAR.

Kyle Larson posted the fastest single lap in Friday’s practice session. His top speed was 192.989 mph. He also had the fastest 10-lap average at 185.537 mph among three drivers who ran long runs.

Larson finished in the top 10 on this track last year as a rookie. He should be considered a favorite to back that up with another top-10.

Sprint Cup regular Joey Logano tops the speed chart in the Final Practice session for the XFINITY Series Hisense 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He also led the first practice earlier today.

The No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang driver ran a fast lap of 182.105 mph. No. 62 Brendan Gaughan, No. 33 Paul Menard, No. 18 Daniel Suarez and No. 9 Chase Elliott round out the top five of the 40 cars out on the track. The No. 89 Chevrolet driven by Morgan Shepherd was the slowest in the final practice session. Logano also had a 10-lap average speed of 179.306 mph. This was the best of the 13 cars running at least 10 consecutive laps in this session.
