The HDI Racing Team driver was the fastest of the 29-car lineup for Sunday's season-opener. Ruben Rovelo (No. 28 Toyota) will share the front row with Garcia. Rogelio Lopez (No. 6 Toyota) was third fastest.

For the fourth consecutive time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, Todd Gilliland will be the first under the green flag.

Turning the quickest lap of the day at 18.054 seconds [99.701 mph], the reigning West Series champion bested Bill McAnally Racing teammate Chris Eggleston by only 0.006 seconds to earn the 21 Means 21 Pole Award at Irwindale Speedway. The result stands as the ninth pole for the Sherrills Ford, North Carolina native and third straight to start the 2017 season.
Mar 25 - 9:07 PM

Michael Self was the man in charge at Irwindale Speedway, as the No. 9 Sunrise Ford/Eibach Springs/Lucas Oil Ford topped practice for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.

Ripping around the half-mile in 18.097 seconds [99.464 mph], the six-time series winner bested his Sunrise Ford Racing teammate Julia Landauer by 0.220 seconds. Landauer posted the second-best overall time at an 18.317, as she finished second in both sessions. Chris Eggleston was third best followed by last week's winner Todd Gilliland and Nicole Behar.
Mar 25 - 9:03 PM

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Kyle Larson, driving the No. 42 ENEOS Chevrolet Camaro, won the Service King 300, his sixth victory in 94 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races.

This is his first victory and third top-10 NXS finish in 2017. It is his second victory and fifth top-10 finish in five NXS races at Auto Club Speedway (ACS). Cup driver Joey Logano (second) posted his ninth top-10 finish in nine NXS races at ACS and his second top-10 NXS finish in 2017. Cup driver Kyle Busch (third) posted his 15th top-10 finish in 18 NXS races at ACS. William Byron (fifth) was the highest finishing rookie. Elliott Sadler (finished seventh) leads the point standings by 17 points over William Byron.
Mar 25 - 8:48 PM

Chase Elliott posted the fastest single lap in final practice for the Auto Club 400 with a speed of 187.480 mph.

Elliott was second-fastest in the first session. The team seems to have found whatever they lacked on Friday. He rolls off the grid from the seventh row, which puts him in a bit of a sweet spot in terms of place-differential potential. Elliott should move up and combine points for a top-10 finish with those for advancement. With a little luck, Elliott will contend for the win.
Mar 25 - 3:29 PM

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Joey Logano, driving the No. 22 America's Tire/Discount Tire Ford Mustang, won the Coors Light Pole Award for today's Service King 300 with a lap of 182.556 mph.

This is his 32nd pole in 161 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races. It is his first pole and second top-10 NXS start in 2017 and his fourth pole in nine NXS races at Auto Club Speedway (ACS). Daniel Hemric (second) posted his fourth top-10 start of 2017 and his first at ACS. Cup regular Erik Jones (third) posted his third top-10 NXS start at ACS and his second in three NXS races this season.
Mar 25 - 2:13 PM

Jimmie Johnson posted the second quickest 10-lap average behind rookie Erik Jones in Saturday morning’s practice session with a lap of 182.874 mph.

Johnson is going to need that long run speed in order to move up through the field. He spun and damaged his car in practice one, was forced into a backup, and did not clear inspection in time to post a qualification lap. He starts 37th, but should be able to contend for at least a top-10.
Mar 25 - 1:16 PM

With less than two minutes remaining in Saturday morning’s practice session for the Auto Club 400, David Ragan slammed the wall hard in turns three and four and flattened the right side.

Ragan will definitely need to go to a backup car and give up his 27th position on the grid. Last year, he started 35th for BK Racing and climbed to 22nnd.
Mar 25 - 1:10 PM

Chase Elliott had the second fastest single lap in the second practice session for the Auto Club 400 with a speed of 186.843 mph.

That means he finally found some speed in his Chevrolet. He was only 12th fastest in Friday’s practice and missed advancing to the final round of time trials for the first time this season; he qualified 13th. He was not particularly strong during long runs with the 12th-quickest time, but the No. 24 team still has one session to work on that.
Mar 25 - 1:10 PM

Erik Jones posted the fastest single lap in Saturday morning’s practice session for the Auto Club 400 with a speed of 187.251. He was reportedly quick in 10 lap averages as well.

Jones qualified 14th for the race and that puts him close enough to the top 10 that he should be able to establish himself with the leaders. Jones should be considered a favorite to score his second consecutive top-10 in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
Mar 25 - 12:35 PM

Kevin Harvick slapped the wall fairly hard with less than 10 minutes remaining in Saturday morning’s practice session for the Auto Club 400.

If they can repair this car, that is probably Plan A. Harvick was sixth on the speed chart at the time and qualified seventh. He will not want to give up that track position.
