Joey Logano will once again run double-duty this weekend at Watkins Glen International.

But it won't be for his regular No. 22 team (Brad Keselowski will drive the No. 22 NNS entry). A third Penske Nationwide Series team is entered this weekend, the No. 48 Discount Tire team. Logano has five NNS starts at WGI earning two top-five and three top-10 finishes. He has finishes of second and third and was on his way to another top-five in one race when he was wrecked with just a few laps to go. THE CAR:chassis PRS-223, which has served as the backup at the other road course races this year for the No. 22 team, as well as a test car.-Penske Racing

MDM Motorsports was 1-2 on the board in ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards practice Friday afternoon at Kentucky Speedway in preparation for General Tire Pole Qualifying coming next.

Sheldon Creed, in the No. 28 United Rentals Toyota, led the way with a top mark of 29.449 seconds (183.368 mph). He was also fastest in the open test here Wednesday. His MDM teammate Zane Smith was right behind at 29.476 seconds, a difference of .027 seconds. Chase Purdy, in the No. 88 BAMA Buggies-Mason Mitchell Motorsports Chevrolet, was third on the chart at 29.938 (180.373 mph). Ty Majeski, in the No. 99 Treeo's-Cunningham Motorsports Ford, spent much of the practice session atop the field before some late-practice mock-qualifying runs bumped him back to fourth.

Christopher Bell (No. 4 SiriusXM Toyota Tundra) had the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the first practice for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH.

His average speed of 129.345 mph was best of the three trucks that ran at least 10 consecutive laps on the track for this session. No. 98 Grant Enfinger (128.031 mph) and No. 51 Todd Gilliland (127.275 mph) are the others on this list.

Noah Gragson (No. 18 Switch Toyota Tundra) led the first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice session for the UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH.

He ran a quick lap of 131.492 mph. No. 51 Todd Gilliland, No. 24 Justin Haley, No. 88 Matt Crafton and No. 4 Christopher Bell round out the top-five of the 22 trucks completing laps in this session. Wendell Chavous in the No. 49 Chevrolet Silverado was the slowest.

Kyle Larson posted the fastest single lap in Friday’s practice at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with a speed of 135.714 mph.

Larson was part of seven playoff drivers who topped the standings, but little things can make a big difference at this stage of the season. He beat Kyle Busch by .077 seconds, but was more than a tenth faster than Kasey Kahne.

Minutes after teammate Jimmie Johnson slapped the wall in the first practice session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Chase Elliott followed him into the barrier in almost the same spot.

Elliott got a good start in the playoffs last week with a second-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway. He has plenty of time to rebound, but his record in New England has not been great with a best of 11th in three previous starts.

Jimmie Johnson will have to roll out a backup car at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the second round of the playoffs.

Johnson sits eighth in the standings, but is only 20 points above the cutoff. He finished eighth last week at Chicagoland Speedway and also at Richmond International Raceway—another short, flat track—but he cannot afford to get too far behind the eight ball.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Newman was fastest in the only NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice session on Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Behind the wheel of his No. 77 Menards/Curb Records Chevrolet, Newman posted a fast lap of 132.190 mph around the 1.058-mile NHMS oval. Rowan Pennink was second fastest with a speed of 132.186 mph as he seeks his first career win at the 'Magic Mile.' Bobby Santos, who won the July race at New Hampshire, was third fastest in practice (132.016 mph). Donny Lia and Timmy Solomito rounded out the top five.

Alex Tagliani (No. 18 Lowe's Canada/EpiPen/St.Hubert Dodge) has six wins, eight poles and 22 top fives, 37 top 10s in 57 careers NASCAR Pinty's Series starts.

Three of his six wins at have come on the ovals (Sunset Speedway 2015-16 and Edmonton in 2016). His road course wins came earlier this year at Trois-Rivieres, last season in Toronto and the road course in Edmonton in 2008. Has made one start at Jukasa Motor Speedway finishing 20th in 2008.

Venturini Motorsports has announced the addition of Natalie Decker to the team’s Toyota driver lineup for Friday’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards – General Tire Super Weekend at Kentucky Speedway, this version the Crosley Brands 150.

Driving the No. 55 N29 Capital Partners Toyota Camry, Decker’s opportunity is a direct result of her season success and the continued support from her marketing partner, N29 Capital Partners, LLC. This will be Decker’s first career start in the Bluegrass State and her first race on a 1.5 mile track, which will serve as a warm-up for her next appearance at Kansas Speedway Oct. 20.

Brendan Gaughan (No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet Camaro) heads to one of his best tracks this weekend as the NASCAR XFINITY Series Playoffs kicks off its run at Kentucky Speedway.

He has one win, four top-five and eight top-10 finishes in the XFINITY Series at the 1.5-mile speedway. He has an average start of 9.8 and average finish of 9.1. The veteran driver also has nine NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at Kentucky, collecting two top-five and two top-10 finishes. Gaughan secured his spot in the 2017 XFINITY Series Playoffs when he finished 13th at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday. He will kick off the playoffs from the 11th spot in the standings with the first set of eliminations occurring after the upcoming October race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.-Richard Childress Racing
