Brian Scott (2 Chevrolet Camaro) wins the Coors Light Pole Award for tonight's 33rd Annual Virginia 529 College Savings 250 with a lap of 21.717 seconds, 124.327 mph.

This is his second pole in 134 NASCAR Nationwide Series races. This is his first pole and 15th top-10 start in 2013 and his first pole in nine races at Richmond International Raceway.

Kevin Harvick apparently cut a tire in the first stage of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and retired early in 40th.

That busted a lot of rosters and spoiled the top of this week’s Cheat Sheets. Harvick was ranked No. 1 and had one of the fastest cars on the track before his accident. There is no reason to believe he is not going to rebound quickly, but his misfortune allowed Kyle Busch to overtake him in terms of playoff points. Harvick now has 24 playoff points to Busch’ 25.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished 10th in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and tied Chase Elliott for 15th in the NASCAR points standings.

That is the final transfer position into the playoffs. Elliott has the advantage in terms of the tiebreaker, but these two have been running nose to tail in the past couple of weeks. Fantasy owners should expect solid runs from both for a while now.
May 28 - 12:42 AM

Alex Bowman finished ninth in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, joining his teammate Jimmie Johnson in the top 10.

Chase Elliott finished just outside of the top 10 in 11th and that is encouraging because the organization finally got a strong run for most of their drivers. This is Bowman’ fourth top-10 in the last eight races of the season.
May 28 - 12:37 AM

Kurt Busch finished eighth in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which was his 10th top-15 in 13 races this year.

Busch is not burning up the track, but his level of consistency is so great that he is much more fantasy relevant than one might suppose. Feel confident holding onto him until he stumbles in consecutive races.
May 28 - 12:31 AM

Kyle Larson finished seventh in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway after starting 11th.

7-11 is a lucky combination and it turned out that way for Larson. He spun in segment three, but did not hit anything and was able to overcome the mistake to score his third straight top-10 of the season.
May 28 - 12:27 AM

Jamie McMurray finished sixth in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway to earn his second top-10 of the season.

McMurray’s other top-10 came on another similarly-configured, 1.5-mile track of Texas Motor Speedway. He should be considered a solid dark horse the next time the series rolls onto this track type.
May 28 - 12:13 AM

Jimmie Johnson finished fifth in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which is his second top-five of the season.

Johnson finished third at Bristol Motor Speedway, but this is the first time all year that he has looked fast from start to finish. That is a good omen for things to come, but it may still take a while for him to be a place-and-hold driver.
May 28 - 12:05 AM

Brad Keselowski finished fourth in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and snapped a two-race skid on this track of finishes outside the top 10.

Keselowski was not particularly strong last year on this 1.5-miler, but he ended 2016 with a four-race streak of top-10s. We had him handicapped seventh on this week’s Cheat Sheets, so he outperformed expectations slightly after a couple of front runners (Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano) experience trouble.
May 27 - 11:07 PM

Denny Hamlin finished third in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway to score his third consecutive top-five on this track.

This was also Hamlin’s 14th top-10 finish in the last 16 Charlotte. We knew he would be one of the top drivers if he could stay out of trouble and that is precisely what he did.
May 27 - 11:02 PM

Martin Truex Jr. finished second in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway without leading a single lap.

This was Truex’s 11th top-five in the last 12 races on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks. He had to overcome at least two problems in the pits to charge back up to the leaders. At times, he seemed to have a faster car than Busch, but that was most likely because the winner Kyle Busch was managing the gap.
May 27 - 10:54 PM

Kyle Busch absolutely dominated the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and won handily over Martin Truex Jr.

By winning at Charlotte, Busch has now won on every track NASCAR on which he’s competed. He is the first driver to ever perform that feat in the 60 years of the series. He led 377 of the 400 laps anwon all three stages of the race. No one has been as dominant all year.
