Cole Custer (00 Chevrolet) is once again proving to be a contender at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as he led the way in practice for this weekend’s North American Power 100.

Custer, a 15-year-old from Ladera Ranch, Calif., posted a fast lap of 29.794 seconds (127.838 mph) in the 90-minute session Friday morning to lead the 31-car contingent. Custer also registered the best 10 consecutive lap average around the 1.058-mile oval at 124.682 mph.

Brad Keselowski finished second in the AAA 400 at Dover, but he logged the best average running position along the way with a 1.93.

Keselowski, the AAA 400 winner Jeff Gordon, Joey Logano, and Kevin Harvick continue to be the best values on a weekly basis. NASCAR heads to back-to-back similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks, so this trend will probably continue for at least two more weeks.

Ryan Preece broke through Sunday after a season-long absence from Victory Lane, and collected his 10th career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory by holding off Ted Christopher at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Preece led a race-high 79 laps in recording his first win since Sept. 14 last year at New York's Riverhead Raceway. Christopher settled for second. Ron Silk rallied back to finish third, followed by rookie Tommy Barrett Jr. and Patrick Emerling.

Jeff Gordon scored his fourth win of the season and his fifth at Dover by more than four seconds over Brad Keselowski and the remainder of the field.

Gordon has finished first or second in three of his last four races this season. The two races in which he finished second were lost to Keselowski, so it appears the Chase could come down to these two drivers.

Sep 27 - 8:12 PM

While Andy Seuss and George Brunnhoelzl III have gained most of the headlines from racing recently at Caraway Speedway, for a while Brian Loftin was the driver to beat at Caraway Speedway.

After qualifying, Loftin might be ready to reclaim his success at the .455-mile track. Loftin captured his first Coors Light Pole Award on the tour since July 1, 2011 during qualifying for the Zooland 150. Loftin led the field with a fast lap of 15.936 seconds (102.786 mph) to capture his 13th career pole and seventh at Caraway.

This is the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota driver's fifth NNS victory and 20th top-10 finish in 2014. He is now the all-time Dover wins leader, breaking a tie with Joey Logano. This is his fifth victory and 14th top-10 finish in 19 NNS races at Dover International Speedway. Busch also won this year's spring race at Dover. It is his second Dover sweep (first came in 2010).
