Just two short weeks ago, Corey LaJoie was celebrating his third victory in just four starts in the ARCA Racing Series at Kentucky Speedway.

This weekend he will go for four out of five in the ARCA Racing season finale at Kansas Speedway. If he's successful, he will surpass the series' most prolific driver, Frank Kimmel, for the most wins this season. LaJoie will sport a new look on his No. 17 Ford Fusion with Uncle John's Pride Country Smoked Sausage as a primary sponsor for the weekend.-Breaking Limits

Jeff Gordon knows it will be difficult to match the feeling he gets racing after this season, but broadcasting could provide something close to it.

That was among the reasons Gordon decided to pursue broadcasting, leading to Thursday’s announcement that he’ll join Mike Joy and Darrell Waltrip in the booth for Fox’s broadcast of NASCAR Sprint Cup events. Gordon has signed a multi-year contract. He replaces Larry McReynolds, who had been in the booth since Fox began broadcasting Cup races in 2001. McReynolds will remain an analyst for the network.

Sprint Cup regular Austin Dillon has the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the XFINITY Series final practice for the Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The average speed of 177.477 mph in the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro was best of the 13 cars that ran 10 consecutive laps on the track for this final practice session. No. 5 Kasey Kahne, No. 6 Darrell Wallace Jr., No. Ryan Reed and No. 62 Brendan Gaughan are the rest of the top five on this list.

Ty Dillon tops the speed chart in the Final Practice session for the XFINITY Series Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/ Chevrolet Camaro driver ran a fast lap of 181.068 mph. No. 6 Darrell Wallace Jr., No. 62 Brendan Gaughan, No. 33 Austin Dillon and No. 22 Ryan Blaney round out the top-five of the 42 cars out on the track. The No. 74 Dodge driven by Mike Harmon was the slowest in the final practice session.

Darrell Wallace Jr. leads the first practice session for the XFINITY Series Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The lap of 180.536 mph in the No. 6 Cheez-it Ford Mustang was best of the 40 cars out on the track for this session. No. 33 Austin Dillon, No. 2 Brian Scott, No. 60 Chris Buescher and No. 20 Erik Jones are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. Mike Harmon in the No. 74 Dodge was the slowest.

Michael McDowell will make his second start in as many weeks after posting the 25th fastest time in qualification for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

McDowell qualified 31st last week on the similarly-configured, 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway and finished 36th, but the last time he rolled off the grid in this range, he finished 27th at Atlanta from a 24th-place gridding. Fantasy owners willing to roll the dice might find a great fantasy value in the No. 95.
May 21 - 10:20 PM

Jeb Burton, Mike Bliss, Travis Kvapil, Brendan Gaughan, and Jeff Green failed to find enough speed to make the Coca-Cola 600 and will have to watch from the pits Sunday night.

Make certain these drivers are not on your roster, but keep an eye on them for future races because they become greater bargains each time they fail to qualify.
May 21 - 10:00 PM

Greg Biffle earned his season-best starting position in qualification for the Coca-Cola 600. He posted the fourth fastest time and rolls off the grid from the outside of the second row.

This is the second consecutive week Biffle earned a season-best starting position. Last week he started seventh at Kansas Speedway in the SpongeBob SquarePants 400 and earned his best result on an unrestricted, intermediate speedway. With renewed confidence, he could finish better than 12th this week and earn his second top-10 of 2015.
May 21 - 9:45 PM

Matt Kenseth posted a lap of 194.252 mph in the final round of qualification and will lead the field to green Sunday night for the Coke 600. This is his first career pole at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Kenseth started on the outside of the front row for the 2011 Bank of America 500 and he won that event. A couple of third-place starts in 2005 and 2013 have not been as efficient, however, with results of 37th and 15th respectively.
May 21 - 8:21 PM

Carl Edwards posted the fastest single in the first practice session for the Coca-Cola 600. His top speed was 192.273 mph and was set near the end of the session.

Edwards has one top-10 and another top-15 on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks, but his average in four events on this course type is 21st. Fans are rooting for him to have a reversal of fortune, but he is still a risky proposition.
May 21 - 3:57 PM

JJ Yeley will most likely finish in the mid-30s this week, if his other attempts on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks are an indication. He blew an engine at Texas Motor Speedway, but finished 34th-37th in his other three attempts. Yeley’s best result came at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Yeley qualified a BK Racing machine at Charlotte Motor Speedway last fall and finished 38th. He will only be a good value if he fits a very specific niche on a fantasy player’s roster.
May 21 - 12:38 PM

Alex Kennedy finished better than he started in his last eight races, all of which came behind the wheel of the No. 33 Joe Falk car.

While this is a good record, Kennedy needs to improve his qualification skills. All eight of these races were made via provisional starting positions and all but one of them ended somewhere in the 30s. Kennedy’s best result in that span of races was a 28th at Pocono Raceway last August after starting 42nd.
