Austin Dillon was one of 33 drivers impacted by some form of crash damage in the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway, but after getting a Free Pass, he drafted to third on the final lap and finished there. He lost one place-differential point after starting on the outside of the front row.

This was Dillon’s first top-10 at Talladega, but he was still considered a favorite because he has three top-15s in the previous six attempts.

When Dale Earnhardt Jr. spun into Kasey Kahne and Michael Annett, he was the first driver to wreck, but was far from the last. By the end of the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway, 82.5 percent of the field had been impacted by crash damage.

This was one of the most chaotic races at Talladega fantasy owners have seen in quite some while. Winning one’s league this week required a lot of luck.

Kyle Busch finished second in the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway.

This was Busch’s fourth top-five in the past eight races on this track. Two of his remaining results were just outside the top 10, but his other pair of performances wound up outside the top 35.
May 1 - 5:00 PM

In a race that was marred by several "Big One" crashes—including one that impacted more than half the field—Brad Keselowski was leading the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway when the final caution waved on the white flag lap.

Keselowski had a huge lead when the final accident froze the field so he was heading to Victory Lane either way. This is his fourth win on this track and his second in the past four races. He also won in fall 2014.

Austin Cindric had the dream NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut at VIRginia International Raceway. The 17-year-old muscled his way to victory over a charging Justin Haley to capture the checkered flag at the 2.250-mile road course and his first NASCAR victory.

Cindric, the son of Team Penske President Tim Cindric, started in the top position after winning the 21 Means 21 Pole Award earlier in the day. He battled Haley and Noah Gragson throughout the 55-Lap race for the lead and led a total of 29 laps. The Mooresville, North Carolina, native also dominated the sole practice session of the day with a time of 87.792 seconds to almost break the track’s qualifying record.

Elliott Sadler (#1 OneMain Chevrolet Camaro) won the Sparks Energy 300, his 11th victory in 305 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races.

This is his first victory and eighth top-10 finish in 2016. It is his second victory and fifth top-10 finish in eight races at Talladega Superspeedway. Justin Allgaier (second) posted his fourth top-10 finish in six races at Talladega. It is his seventh top-10 finish in 2016. Brennan Poole (third) posted his first top-10 finish in two races at Talladega. Sadler leads the point standings by 0 points over Daniel Suarez (tie breaker is wins).
Apr 30 - 7:33 PM

Matt Tifft won the Coors Light 21 means 21 Pole Award for the 25th Annual Sparks Energy 300 at Talladega Superspeedway with a lap of 52.857 seconds, 181.168 mph.

This is the #18 NOS Energy Drink Toyota Camry driver's first pole in six NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races and second top-10 in 2016. Daniel Suarez (second) posted his ninth top-10 start of 2016 and his second in two races at Talladega. Austin Dillon (third) posted his fourth top-10 NXS start at Talladega. Erik Jones (fourth) was the fastest qualifying rookie.
Apr 30 - 2:48 PM

Chase Elliott won the pole for Sunday’s Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway and will have a lot of help when the green flag waves. Dale Earnhardt Jr. qualified third with a speed of 192.293 mph directly behind Elliott. Jimmie Johnson qualified fifth (192.116) to start immediately behind Junior. Kasey Kahne also advanced to the final round and lines up 11th—also on the inside row.

Look for these three drivers to draft closely in the opening laps to try and get some separation from the competition. If an early "Big One" erupts, that could be the difference between winning and losing this week.
Apr 30 - 2:15 PM

Chase Elliott will lead the field to green on Sunday for the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway. He also had the pole for the first restrictor-plate, superspeedway race this year at Daytona International Speedway.

Elliott was running among the top 10 when he spun early in the 500. He never really got a chance to show his plate track ability, so he is an unknown this week at the Cup level.
Apr 30 - 2:07 PM

Austin Dillon posted the fastest single lap in the first round of qualification for the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway. His top speed of 192.796 mph narrowly outpaced freshman Chase Elliott.

Dillon has a natural rivalry with Kyle Larson since they battled for Rookie of the Year in 2014, but both Dillon and Elliott are regularly competing at the front of the pack so they should be watched in competition with one another.
Apr 30 - 1:43 PM

Josh Wise failed to find enough speed to qualify for the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway. His lap of 185.679 mph was not only the slowest among the Open Drivers, it was the slowest overall.

Wise also failed to make the Daytona 500 this spring, so restrictor-plate, superspeedway racing is not the team’s strongest track type.
