Josh Wise (42 Chevrolet) will miss the Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The team is outside the top 30 in owner’s points and not guaranteed a start in this weekend’s NNS race. The qualifying speed of 175.245 mph, 36th fastest, was not good enough to make the cut for the event.

Kyle Busch crashed in Friday morning’s practice session and will be forced to roll out a backup car for qualification for the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway. A right rear tire blew and sent him heavily into the wall—nose first. No other cars were involved as he was drafting along with his teammates.

Busch will most likely be qualifying for pit position only as the team rolls out the backup and will probably change to the engine to insure it was not damaged. The good news is that the Coke Zero 400 can be won from any starting position.
Jul 1 - 12:19 PM

Brian Scott posted the fastest single lap of 199.349 mph in the first practice session for the Coke Zero 400. His time was recorded in the draft.

Scott was not overly impressive in last year’s edition of this race with a 42nd-place finish, but he was close to the middle of the pack in the Daytona 500 with a 24th. He is among the cheapest drivers in the game and should be on a number of rosters as a way to extend the salary cap at the top.

Ty Dillon (#3 Bass Pro Shops/NRA Museum Chevrolet Camaro) had the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the first practice for the XFINITY Series Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

His average of 188.277 mph was best of the 13 cars that ran at least 10 consecutive laps on the track for this session. #42 Justin Marks, #33 Brandon Jones, #98 Aric Almirola and #39 Ryan Sieg are the rest of the top five on this list.
Jun 30 - 5:30 PM

Erik Jones (#20 DEWALT FLEXVOLT Toyota Camry) led the first practice session for the XFINITY Series Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

The lap of 193.353 mph was the best of the 29 cars completing laps in this session. #18 David Ragan, #3 Ty Dillon, #33 Brandon Jones and #42 Justin Marks are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. Garrett Smithley in the #0 Chevrolet Camaro was the slowest.
Jun 30 - 5:27 PM

Michael McDowell finished 15th in the Daytona 500, which made him one of the better fantasy values this spring. In the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway, he barely missed sweeping the top 20 with a result of 21st.

In most salary cap games, McDowell is one of the 10 cheapest drivers, so when he finishes in or near the top half of the field he is a great way to extend one’s budget. Last week, a broken rear end snapped a 16-race stretch in which McDowell was running at the end of the show. He will be determined to restart that streak.
Jun 30 - 3:35 PM

Kyle Busch is the only driver to finish in the top five in both plate races this season. He was third in the Daytona 500 and second in the Geico 500 at Talladega SuperSpeedway.

Those were his first top-10s after a six-race hiatus from the front of the pack. Busch can be an all or nothing driver and he has finished either in the top five or outside the top 10 in his last 19 restrictor-plate, superspeedway attempts. Given this tendency, approach him with caution.
Jun 30 - 2:42 PM

Ryan Blaney has a pair of top-10s on the restrictor-plate Talladega SuperSpeedway, but on the sister Daytona International Speedway he is still seeking his first top-15.

Blaney’s best result on this 2.5-mile superspeedway was a 19th this spring. His only other attempt on this course ended in a blown engine and crash damage. He has a good chance of finishing in the top 10 if he stays out of trouble.
Jun 30 - 2:34 PM

Landon Cassill is batting 0.500 in his last four starts on restrictor-plate, superspeedways in regard to top-15s. He finished 11th this May at Talladega SuperSpeedway and was 13th in last year’s edition of the Coke Zero 400.

Cassill is a solid bargain in most salary cap games considering the overall strength of Front Row Motorsports on this course type. Fantasy owners should avoid the temptation to go all in on dark horses, but they should liberally season a roster.
Jun 30 - 2:30 PM

Bobby Labonte inherited the No. 32 ride on restrictor-plate, superspeedways from his brother Terry and he has done fairly well in it. In six previous starts in that car his best result was a 19th this May on Talladega SuperSpeedway. The Coke Zero 400 will mark his lucky seventh start for Frank Stoddard.

Specialty drivers are not always a great value, but they have their place in games that limit allocations or where they are bargain-basement priced. Keep Labonte in mind when filling the final slot.

Alex Tagliani (No. 18 EpiPen/Riobel/Complexe JCP/Juste du Chevrolet) has three wins, six poles and 12 top 10s in 36 career NASCAR Pinty's Series starts.

Has a win (Edmonton, 2008), four poles, five top fives and an average finish of 16th in 14 road course starts. Earned the inaugural pole at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec in 2011 and again last season and has finishes of eighth (2011) and fifth (2014) and third (2015) there.
Jun 30 - 12:11 AM

Andrew Ranger (No. 27 Mopar/Pennzoil Dodge) the 2007 and 2009 NASCAR Pinty's Series champion and after his season opening win at CTMP holds the record for all-time wins with 20 and tied for first in poles (17).

Has 49 top fives and 72 top 10s in 86 career starts. Finished 21st in the inaugural event at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec and then won the next three (2012-2014), including the last two from the pole. He led 71 of the 91 laps contested during those three triumphs. Currently holds the series’ record for consecutive wins at a track with three (ICAR, 2012-14; Trois-Rivieres, 2008-10).
