Chase Elliott posted a lap of 123.621 mph and will line up on the outside of the front row for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway.

Elliott has experienced a lot of trouble in the past few weeks and needs a strong run to put that behind the team. We keep waiting for this team to break through with a win and each week is a good opportunity. Richmond is no exception.

Martin Truex Jr. set a lap of 123.859 m.p.h. to win the pole for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway. It is his 18th career pole and first at Richmond.

Truex was fastest in round one and fourth-fastest in round two. He is sill looking for his first short track win of his career – and there would be no better place to do that than on a little course that behaves like an unrestricted, intermediate speedway.
Apr 20 - 6:20 PM

Kyle Busch failed to advance to the second round of qualification for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway – and with a lap of 122.344 m.p.h., he will start 32nd.

Busch did not make a mock qualification run in practice and seemed to just get caught off guard. He should be able to get to the front before the race is over and will earn a lot of place-differential points.

Cole Custer (No. 00 Code 3 Associates/Ford Mustang) won the Pole Award for the ToyotaCare 250 with a lap of 22.253 seconds, 121.332 mph.

This is his second pole in 46 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) races. It is his second pole and seventh top-10 start in 2018 and his first pole in four races at Richmond Raceway (RR). Christopher Bell (second), the fastest qualifying Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender, posted his sixth top-10 start of 2018 and his first in two races at RR. Austin Cindric (third) posted his first top-10 start at RR and his fourth in eight series races this season.
Apr 20 - 5:31 PM

In four starts at Richmond Raceway, Austin Dillon has finished either 20th or 21st four times.

Dillon finished 20th in last spring’s Toyota Owners 400 and was 21st in the fall Federated Auto Parts 400. Combined with a 20th and 13th in 2016, that means Dillon has three top-20s in his last four attempts and there is every likelihood that is about where he will finish this week.
Apr 20 - 2:47 PM

Ross Chastain should be able to finish in the top 30 at Richmond Raceway, if his two previous short, flat track starts are an indication.

Chastain has shown consistency in his short, flat track starts. He was 27th after starting 36th at Ingenuity Sun Media Raceway (Phoenix) and 29th from 33rd at Martinsville Speedway.
Apr 20 - 2:47 PM

Chase Elliott enters the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway with three consecutive top-10s on short, flat tracks.

Elliott finished second and third in his last two Ingenuity Sun Media Raceway (Phoenix) races and was ninth at Martinsville Speedway. His last attempt at Richmond Raceway netted a 10th-place finish, but that is his only top-10 on this track. Given the bad luck he has experienced lately, he is a risky proposition this week.
Apr 20 - 2:46 PM

Daniel Suarez has been solid on short, flat tracks during his first two seasons of Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competition, with five top-10s in 10 starts.

In addition to his five top-10 finishes on minimally-banked courses one-mile or less in length, Suarez has two more top-15s and two 18th-place finishes. That means he has finished in the back half of the pack only once and the downside to starting him is manageable.
Apr 20 - 2:46 PM

Darrell Wallace Jr. was notably fast in final practice for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway. His top speed of 119.952 mph was second on the speed chart.

Wallace is jacked up following his strong Bristol Motor Speedway run last week and determined to show he is capable of scoring top-10s in the right car. Mental attitude is an extremely important key to success on short tracks.
Apr 20 - 1:39 PM

Kyle Larson posted the fastest single lap in Happy Hour for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway with a speed of 120.315 mph.

Larson has been fast here in the past, but his best runs came in the fall. After finishing second to Kyle Busch last week at Bristol Motor Speedway, he is highly motivated to win this week’s pole and dominate the Toyota Owners 400.
Apr 20 - 1:36 PM

Kevin Harvick posted the quickest 10-lap average in the first practice session for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway with a speed of 119.652 mph.

Harvick has five top-five finishes in his last seven Richmond starts. All but one of his last eight starts have come from the first three rows.
