Steve Letarte, the crew chief who has helped return Dale Earnhardt Jr. to prominence in NASCAR's premier series, will leave his post at Hendrick Motorsports after this coming season to become a television analyst for NBC Sports.

Letarte will join fellow analyst Jeff Burton and race announcer Rick Allen in the booth when NBC returns as a NASCAR television partner beginning with the 2015 season.-NASCAR.com

Matt DiBenedetto will make his fourth Pocono Raceway start this week, and he has been uneven in the first three attempts. He finished 32nd last spring, 29th last summer, and was 40th this spring.

Another top-30 to go along with last year’s 29th is probably not in the cards. He has not finished that well in the NASCAR Cup series since May at Kansas Speedway, so a pattern should start to emerge this week that will help handicap DiBenedetto in 2017. He has finished worse than he started in his last three attempts—two of which were DNFs.

Elliott Sadler has 11 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) starts at Iowa Speedway and has finished in the top 10 every time.

He finished sixth in the June race. The Emporia, Va. native has started from the pole three times at Iowa and won from the pole in 2012. He is currently second in the NXS point standings and has officially been locked into the inaugural NXS Chase. In 18 starts with JR Motorsports (JRM) this season, he has one win (Talladega), five top-five and 15 top-10 finishes. Sadler is tied with Daniel Suarez for the most top-10 efforts in 2016.-JRM

Carl Edwards has gotten progressively stronger in the past three Pocono Raceway events. He was 15th in his first start there with Joe Gibbs Racing last year, 10th in the summer race, and eighth this spring.

Edwards is more than capable of scoring a top-five on any track and should be watched closely during the Pennsylvania 400 weekend because he has been fairly erratic in recent races. Strong runs have been punctuated by mistakes, bad luck, and slightly missed setups so he should only be considered when he is rightly priced and fits the appropriate niche on one’s roster.

The June Axalta We Paint Winners 400 was the worst finish for Greg Biffle in his last 10 races at Pocono Raceway. He finished 26th. In the previous nine events, he finished 24th once but had an average result of 10.8.

Seven of Biffle last 10 races have ended in top-15s and one other result was a 16th. In all likelihood, the No. 16 will finish in the low-teens again this week, so fantasy owners should plan accordingly and put them on their roster when they fill a niche.

Wednesday night Cayden Lapcevich took the lead in a tight battle with veteran Jason Hathaway midway through the race and held off former NASCAR Pinty’s Series champion L.P. Dumoulin late to score his first series victory in the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

He scored the win in just his 13th start, to become the youngest winner in the history of the series at 16 years, eight months and 24 days – eclipsing the old record held by J.R. Fitzpatrick of 19 years, one month and 26 days set in 2007.

Pocono Raceway has not been particularly kind to Danica Patrick during her brief seven-race career there. She has one top-20, two top-30s, and the remainder of her efforts has been outside that mark.

Patrick’s career-average finish on this track is just shy of 31st and that is about where she can be expected to run this week. There is a little hope in that her best result of 16th came in this race last year after she qualified 20th. If she shows enough speed in practice and makes it to the second round of time trials, she might garner a little attention.

Unless he experiences an accident early or his car blows an engine first or second among the field, Brian Scott will certainly finish better than he did this June in the Axalta We Paint Winners 400. He finished 39th in that race after starting 30th among a field of 40.

Then again, he might not improve that position by much. In the six races that have intervened, Scott has finished worse than 35th three times. He has also finished worse than he qualified in all but one race. His best effort in the past six races came on the 2.5-mile flat Indianapolis Motor Speedway, however, when he was 27th after rolling off the grid 32nd.

Reed Sorenson finished 28th this spring in the Axalta 400 at this week’s venue Pocono Raceway, which was his second top-30 in his last four races.

If Sorenson qualifies in the 30s, he will be an even better value since he will almost certainly add place-differential points to his total. With Premium Motorsports, Sorenson has finished better than he started in his last six attempts including a 28th from 40th at Pocono in June and a 33rd from 39th at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last week.

Julia Landauer (No. 54 Curb Records Toyota Camry), a native New Yorker who now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, finished fifth at Stateline Speedway in Idaho.

She is sixth in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship standings and second in rookie points, with three top-five and six top-10 finishes. Landauer is a member of the NASCAR Next program that spotlights NASCAR’s rising stars.-Bill McAnally Racing

Cayden Lapcevich (#76 Fastline Motorsports Dodge) is at the top of the speed chart in the final practice leading to the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The 81.457 mph lap was the best of the 19 cars out on the track. #27 Andrew Ranger, #32 Alex Labbe, #47 L.P. Dumoulin and #1 Joey McColm and #01 Shania LaForce is the slowest in this final session.
