Rookie Tommy Barrett Jr. out-muscled veterans Bobby Santos and Justin Bonsignore with a dozen laps to go and drove on to his first NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory in Wednesday’s Bush’s Beans 150 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Barrett, from Millis, Massachusetts, was running third in the late stages of the hotly-contested race when he drove through and by Bonsignore and Santos – who had been the dominant cars of the night – on Lap 139. The 19-year-old held on to the lead in his No. 22 Canto Paving/Ferguson Waterworks Chevrolet through one final restart on Lap 146 for the milestone first victory. It was just his 10th career start, and first time competing in the sixth annual combination race between the Whelen Modified and Whelen Southern Modified Tours.

Sprint Cup regular (No. 18 Toyota Camry) Kyle Busch wins the Keystone Light Pole Award for the 17th Annual UNOH 200 presented by ZLOOP with a lap of 15.392 seconds, 124.662 mph.

This is the No. 51 Toyota Tundra driver's 16th pole in 122 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races. It is his fourth pole and sixth top-10 NCWTS start in 2014. This is his second pole in nine truck races at Bristol Motor Speedway.

L.P. Dumoulin finishes sixth in Saturday's NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race at Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

He started the No. 47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare Dodge 15th on the grid for the Wilson Equipment 300. He continues as the points leader in the 2014 Canadian Tire Series championship standings after this event.

Kasey Kahne is still searching for the elusive victory that will ensure his spot among the 2014 Chasers and Bristol is a good place for that to come. He won the spring 2013 race there, finished second in the fall, and has an active four-race, top-10 streak.

Kahne’s performance has been uniformly lagging behind the other Hendrick Motorsports drivers and that has seemed to make him a bad value by comparison. While he is not front-of-mind for many players, he could be one of this week’s top sleepers and help win one’s league.

Brian Vickers may have the best opportunity to become NASCAR’s next unique winner this season. He enters the Irwin Tools Night Race with a five-race, top-10 streak at Bristol of which three results are top-fives.

Vickers has the opportunity to be this week’s biggest differentiator on a fantasy owner’s roster and should catch the competition by surprise. Sitting 18th in the standings, he is unlikely to qualify for the Chase on points and needs to go all out for a victory.

Jeff Gordon has won two of the last four races this season and should be considered a favorite to add another victory at Bristol. His most recent of five victories on that track came in 2002.

It has been a while since Gordon won at Bristol, but his latest victory at Michigan came in 2001 and that did little to slow his Chevrolet in the Pure Michigan 400. Gordon shares the record of most wins among active drivers with Kurt and Kyle Busch, who also have five victories apiece.

Irwin Vences entered the final weekend of the 2014 NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series regular season as a long shot to qualify for the Desafio.

He left with his first pole award, second career victory and a possible berth in the series' five-race Desafío playoff round. The driver of the No. 46 Axtel/HP/M Racing Toyota earned his first career pole in Puebla 240 qualifying on Sunday morning and went on to win the afternoon feature for his first victory of the season and second of his career.

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, Kevin Swindell wasn’t sure what he was doing this weekend, but he didn’t plan on racing.

That changed when Venturini Motorsports’ Billy Venturini called and offered him a chance to drive the No. 15 Zaxby’s Toyota on the one-mile dirt track in Springfield, Illinois. Swindell accepted the offer early Wednesday morning and took the team to victory lane Sunday afternoon. Swindell led 21 laps, taking the lead for good on lap 89 of the 100-mile, 100-lap Central Illinois SuperChevyStores.com 100. He held off ARCA Racing Series point leader Mason Mitchell, who got stronger at the end of the race, zipping from seventh to second over the final dozen laps. In doing so, he maintained his series point lead over Grant Enfinger, who led the most laps and finished third.
