Rookie Jeffrey Earnhardt has made one previous start at Dover International Speedway. He finished 35th this spring after starting 39th.

Earnhardt was 64 laps off the pace at the end of the AAA 400 Drive for Autism, but still running at the end. He earned a little experience. It was not enough to make him an easy driver to handicap and he should only be used as roster-filler for players who are willing to throw away one driver.

Carl Edwards has failed to finish in the top 10 in his last eight attempts at Dover International Speedway.

He came close on one occasion in 2014 driving for Roush-Fenway Racing. His 11th in that race did little to raise his average, however, which is 19.4 since 2013. His latest success at Dover came in fall 2012 when he finished fifth, so he needs to be a little nervous this week. Fortunately, he showed speed in the first practice session of the week at second-best.

Trevor Bayne finished 10th in this spring’s AAA 400 Drive for Autism at Dover International Speedway after starting 25th, which made him one of the top dark horses of the weekend.

Before fantasy owners get overly excited about his chances in the Citizen Soldier 400, they should note that his previous best effort on this track netted only a 31st last fall. In Friday’s practice, he posted only the 27th fastest lap at 160.923 mph.

When Kurt Busch finished fifth this spring in the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway, it snapped an eight race streak of failing to finish among the top 10 on this high-banked oval.

Busch’s most recent top-10 prior to that was a victory, and that means he knows how to find a good setup. Still, it is difficult to make him a favorite because the intervening eight races showed an average finish of only 20.5.
Sep 30 - 7:27 PM

Kyle Busch posted the second slowest fast lap in the first practice session on Friday for the Citizen Soldier 400 at Dover International Speedway with a speed of 160.851 mph.

That puts him 28th on the speed chart, only three positions north of Chris Buescher. Joe Gibbs Racing is a team with a thick set of notes, however, and it is likely they worked on race trim much of the day. Busch will be fine in qualification and on Sunday.

Cayden Lapcevich, the 2016 NASCAR Pinty's Series champion is also the Josten’s Rookie of the Year for the series. He becomes the first driver to win both awards in the same year.

The 16 year-old high school senior outdistanced Kevin Lacroix to win the prestigious honor and felt he was able to get the award based on his improvement on road courses. "The way I raced on road courses last year winning this honor really surprised me," said Lapcevich, who has already been recognized as the youngest champion in NASCAR history in the national or touring series. "I was afraid I was lose points to Kevin (Lacroix) on the road courses but we were able to be consistent on them this year and that really made the difference for our team." Lapcevich won Josten’s Rookie of the Race honors this season at eight of the 12 events on the 2016 schedule.

Todd Gilliland proved he was the driver to beat this season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, and he's already started collecting the trophies.

In addition to his series-high six wins, the 16-year-old from Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, has already clinched the 2016 Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award with a race remaining. The Bill McAnally Racing driver becomes the 45th Sunoco Rookie of the Year winner in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and joins his father David Gilliland, who won the award in 2004, on the prestigious list of winners. With the finale at California’s All American Speedway quickly approaching, Gilliland will look to join Lance Hooper (1996) and Scott Lynch (2003) on the list of drivers to win both the championship and rookie honors in the same year in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.
Sep 30 - 7:04 PM

With the Citizen Soldier 400 set by owner points, Martin Truex Jr. will roll off the grid from the outside of the front row.

Truex has been capable of winning each of the past four races this season. Starting up front could contribute to his leading laps at the beginning of the 400-miler. Laps click off at a rapid pace on this rhythm track, so Truex should be a great value unless he is outpaced by Keselowski during short bursts of speed.
Sep 30 - 5:24 PM

Rain canceled qualification for the Citizen Soldier 400 and the roster will be set by owner points. That puts Brad Keselowski on the pole as the points’ leader.

All 16 Chase drivers will lineup at the front of the pack for the second time in three races. It minimizes their chance of getting into an accident for those who might start deep in the field, but it also removes one key factor from the fantasy player’s handicap formula.
Sep 30 - 4:46 PM

Alex Bowman (No. 88 Jack Link's Chevrolet Camaro) tops the speed chart in the Final Practice session for the XFINITY Series Drive Sober 200 at Delaware's Dover Int’l Speedway.

He ran a fast lap of 152.304 mph. No. 18 Kyle Busch, No. 22 Joey Logano, No. 1 Elliott Sadler and No. 7 Justin Allgaier round out the top-five of the 41 cars out on the track. The No. 74 Dodge, driven by Mike Harmon, was the slowest in the final practice session.
Sep 30 - 3:36 PM

Collin Cabre (No. 2 UTI/NTI Toyota) is at the top of the speed chart in the lone practice leading to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series season-ending Dover 125 at Delaware's Dover Int’l Speedway.

He put up a 151.426 mph lap. No. 40 Kyle Benjamin, No. 13 Hunter Baize, No. 12 Harrison Burton and No. 44 Dillon Bassett are the rest of the top five and No. 28 Clair Zimmerman was the slowest of the 27 cars running in this session.
