Ryan Truex has finished in the top 30 only one time in six races this season. His 30th-place finished came on the short track of Martinsville.

Far more predictive of where he will finish this week is the 32nd he scored in the first Pocono race. There are very few scenarios in which Truex could be considered a reasonable dark horse for the GoBowling.com 400.

After departing from Roush-Fenway Racing, Ragan suffered through three Pocono races without a lead lap finish. His two most recent efforts have not been stellar, but at least he finished on the lead lap last August and this June.

Ragan came close to cracking the top 15 in the Pocono 400 with an 18th. If he backs that up on Sunday he could be an acceptable value, but his average finish on this track with Front Row Motorsports is a modest 26.2.

Kevin Harvick has shown a lot of strength on some of NASCAR’s flat tracks, but Pocono Raceway is often an exception. He has not finished among the top five on this track since spring 2011.

If not for the success he showed at Phoenix and several other tracks earlier this year, he might still be moderately priced and would represent a good value. In cap games where he is expensive or in Yahoo!’s Group A, he should be avoided in the GoBowling.com 400.
Aug 1 - 9:28 AM

Carl Edwards has been a solid contender on flat tracks this year. He finished in the top 10 at Phoenix and Richmond, as well as among the top 15 at Martinsville, New Hampshire, and Indy.

Notably the one flat track race in which he finished poorly came at Pocono, but his 41st in that event was caused by an accident on lap 143 of 160. He was collateral damage in another Kyle Busch vs. Kasey Kahne dustup. Edwards was running 13th before the incident.
Aug 1 - 9:27 AM

Cole Whitt has been consistent on flat tracks this season with five results ranging from 27th through 32nd.

Whitt’s Pocono 400 finish was 30th, which is close to his average on minimally-banked courses. Fantasy owners can expect another result in that same range and plan accordingly.
