Brad Keselowski wins the Kobalt 400, his 11th victory in 164 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.

Keselowski becomes the first driver to sweep both the NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the same weekend since Jeff Burton did it in 2000. This is the No. 2 Ford Fusion driver's his first Cup victory and third top-10 finish in 2014. It is his first victory and second top-10 finish in six NSCS races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Keselowski is second in the 2014 NSCS point standings, one point behind leader Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Paul Menard has been uneven on the similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks this year with two top-10s countered by a pair of results outside the top 15.

In general, the No. 21 team is performing well and Menard is a better value than he was last year. Last year’s driver Ryan Blaney was able to smooth out the peaks and valleys a little better, however. Menard’s inconsistency makes him a much more difficult pick for one’s fantasy roster.

Reed Sorenson has made two previous starts on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks this year with a best of 27th last week at Kansas Speedway.

Sorenson’s other attempt on the 1.5-milers this year ended in a 31st at Texas Motor Speedway, so it would seem to be a good bet that he could finish in the range of about 30th this week. With a full field expected, he could be a decent value if he qualifies 35th or worse and earns place-differential points to go along with his race finish points.

Niece Motorsports development driver Max McLaughlin will make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) debut later this summer at Eldora Speedway, piloting the No. 38 Chevrolet Silverado.

In 2017, McLaughlin finished ninth in the Super DirtCar Series points and won the 2017 Most Popular Driver award. He set five fast times and broke four track records in his sophomore season on tour. He also picked up wins at both Fulton and Brewerton Speedways as well as a Triple 30 Feature at Super Dirt Week. In addition to his partial Truck Series schedule this year, McLaughlin continues to run fulltime in Big Block Modifieds for HBR team owner Al Heinke.

Kurt Busch had a even-race streak of top-10 finishes at Charlotte Motor Speedway come to an end last fall in the Bank of America 500 when he slipped to 22nd.

Busch’s average finish in the seven previous races was 7.0. Even with that poor result last fall, he now has eight top-15s in the last 10 races at Charlotte. The down side of starting him is not very great, but he must be rightly-priced to be a good value. Only two of his last 10 attempts ended in top-fives.
May 23 - 11:53 AM

Erik Jones has finished 11th or better in his last five races on similarly configured, 1.5-mile tracks.

In the past five races on this track type, Jones’ best finish was a fifth at Texas and that is his only top-five. He remains a good value, however, because of an average finish of 8.0. If Jones fits a comfortable niche on your roster, take him with confidence.

Strengthening his relationship with California-based companies, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Dylan Lupton (@LuptonDylan) announced today with JGL Racing that Fatal Clothing will support the team in Saturday afternoon’s Alsco 300 at Charlotte (NC) Motor Speedway.

Lupton and JGL will promote the company’s brand on a larger scale with a dynamic paint scheme for their No. 28 Ford Mustang in Lupton’s first tango with Charlotte. The Wilton, Calif. native has 33 career NASCAR XFINITY Series starts to his credit to go along with four starts in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. He has a career best XFINITY Series finish of ninth which came at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during the 2015 season.-JGL Racing

BJ McLeod’s last three Monster Energy Cup races came on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks including last week’s 35th at Kansas Speedway.

McLeod also ran in last fall’s Kansas race where he finished 30th and in the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway where he finished 32nd. Those results will not make him stand out in every game, but he may be a good value in Draft Kings where his price is going to be low.

The first time Todd Gilliland climbed into an ARCA car he was just two days past his 15th birthday, not even old enough to carry a valid driver's license. Yet, when the Sherrills Ford, NC driver climbed out, he was in victory lane at Toledo Speedway, etching his name in the record books as the youngest ARCA Racing Series winner in history.

The second generation driver, who just turned 18, will now try it on a bigger stage at Charlotte Motor Speedway Thursday night. Gilliland is entered in ARCA's General Tire 150 in the No. 54 Frontline Enterprises Toyota, a car fielded out of the nearby DGR-CROSLEY race shop. As a series regular on the NASCAR Camping World Truck tour, Gilliland is just one of a handful of drivers in the General Tire 150 field who has already competed at Charlotte.

Before competing in his regular No. 13 GEICO Chevrolet in Sunday night's Cup Series Coca-Cola 600, Ty Dillon will pilot the No. 3 Nexium® 24HR Chevrolet in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) Alsco 300 on Saturday.

Dillon has eight previous starts in the NXS at Charlotte, earning four top-10 finishes. His highest finish of sixth place came in the fall of 2015. Dillon also has two previous starts in the Cup Series at the 1.5-mile track, and he scored his best finish of 21st place in the fall of 2017. He has two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at CMS. He won the pole award in 2012 and followed that up with a second-place starting position in 2013. Dillon earned top-10 finishes in both races, earning his best finish of fifth place in 2013.-Richard Childress Racing

Matt Tifft (No. 2 KCMG Chevrolet Camaro) has three previous NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway, in which he collected two top-10 finishes.

His best result of eighth came in October 2016. Tifft also has two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at the 1.5-mile track, earning two top-10 starting spots, one top-five and two top-10 finishes. He has completed 100 percent of all laps he has attempted at the speedway.-Richard Childress Racing
