Ty Dillon (No. 3 Chevrolet) is the top rookie finisher in the Nationwide Series Drive to Stop Diabetes 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

He started 9th and finished 6th. This was ahead of the rest of the 2014 Rookie of the Year contenders. Dillon is 3rd in the 2014 NNS point standings.

Kevin Harvick posted the second fastest single lap in the second practice session for the Citizen Soldier 400 at Dover International Speedway with a speed of 158.772 mph Saturday morning.

Rain interrupted this session about 15 minutes from the end and a persistent mist creates some confusion for fantasy owners. He was eighth on the grid overall.

Kyle Larson posted the fastest single lap in Dover’s second practice session. His top speed of 158.898 mph Saturday morning was seventh overall.

Larson has the best average finish over the past six races on this track and statistically is one of this week’s top choices.
Oct 1 - 11:45 AM

Jeff Gordon posted the fastest single lap in the second practice session of the weekend at Dover International Speedway for the Citizen Soldier 400. His top speed was 160.514 mph.

Gordon led a contingent of six non-Chase contending drivers at the top of the chart. Rain plagued this session and might have made the Chasers a little more conservative.

Jimmie Johnson has 10 Dover wins, which is the most among active and inactive drivers alike.

Getting double-digit wins on a NASCAR track in the Modern Era is almost impossible, so this should factor heavily in his handicap. Johnson’s last two Dover attempts were marred by a broken rear seal in this race last year and crash damage in the spring. Prior to that, he won three of four races and finished third, so he has to still be considered a favorite.
Oct 1 - 9:52 AM

Chase Elliott had a chance to win the AAA 400 Drive for Autism at Dover International Speedway this spring in his inaugural attempt on this track. He finished third after starting 13th.

Elliott lost the opportunity to catch Matt Kenseth this June when he got to racing Kyle Larson too hard at the end of show. He starts a little closer to the front this week in ninth and had a solid first practice, but he needs to be conservative to avoid catastrophe and that could ultimate impact his finish.

Justin Haley and Kyle Benjamin led the way as NASCAR's youth movement conquered the "Monster Mile." It was Haley who lifted the big championship trophy at Dover International Speedway, while Benjamin took the final NASCAR K&N Pro Series East checkered flag of 2016.

Haley brought home the No. 5 Off Axis Chevrolet with a fourth-place finish in the Dover 125 to put the finishing touches on his first championship season. The 17-year-old from Winamac, Indiana, put together a title-winning run with remarkable consistency. His Dover finish was his 13th top five in 14 races. He collected two wins along the way, with a worst finish of eighth-place, to claim the crown over Benjamin by 22 points.

Kyle Benjamin dominated the Dover 125 Friday en route to his third NASCAR K&N Pro Series East win of the season.

Benjamin did everything he could in his No. 40 Ranier Racing with MDM Chevrolet. The 19-year-old NASCAR Next alum from Easley, South Carolina, led the most laps (84) and won for the third time on the season. A late caution pushed the race to 126 laps, but Benjamin was able to pull away from the field on the green-white-checkered finish to secure the victory.
Sep 30 - 11:51 PM

Rookie Jeffrey Earnhardt has made one previous start at Dover International Speedway. He finished 35th this spring after starting 39th.

Earnhardt was 64 laps off the pace at the end of the AAA 400 Drive for Autism, but still running at the end. He earned a little experience. It was not enough to make him an easy driver to handicap and he should only be used as roster-filler for players who are willing to throw away one driver.
Sep 30 - 7:29 PM

Carl Edwards has failed to finish in the top 10 in his last eight attempts at Dover International Speedway.

He came close on one occasion in 2014 driving for Roush-Fenway Racing. His 11th in that race did little to raise his average, however, which is 19.4 since 2013. His latest success at Dover came in fall 2012 when he finished fifth, so he needs to be a little nervous this week. Fortunately, he showed speed in the first practice session of the week at second-best.
Sep 30 - 7:28 PM

Trevor Bayne finished 10th in this spring’s AAA 400 Drive for Autism at Dover International Speedway after starting 25th, which made him one of the top dark horses of the weekend.

Before fantasy owners get overly excited about his chances in the Citizen Soldier 400, they should note that his previous best effort on this track netted only a 31st last fall. In Friday’s practice, he posted only the 27th fastest lap at 160.923 mph.
Sep 30 - 7:28 PM

When Kurt Busch finished fifth this spring in the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway, it snapped an eight race streak of failing to finish among the top 10 on this high-banked oval.

Busch’s most recent top-10 prior to that was a victory, and that means he knows how to find a good setup. Still, it is difficult to make him a favorite because the intervening eight races showed an average finish of only 20.5.
