Kevin Harvick is scheduled to make his 500th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start in Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 race at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS).

In the midst of his 14th season in the series, Harvick has earned 26 wins, 111 top fives, 226 top-10 finishes and 14 pole awards. This weekend the No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet SS will feature a special 500th start logo on the hood, under the right taillight and on the base of the b-post in recognition of the milestone. In addition, the hashtag #TexasToast appears on the car’s decklid.-Elevation Group PR

Johnny Sauter is fastest in Happy Hour for the Camping World Truck Series WinStar World Casino 350K at Texas Motor Speedway.

At 180.186 mph in the No. 98 Smokey Mountain/Curb Records Toyota Tundra, he was the fastest of the 30 trucks out on the track for the final practice. Sauter also led the first practice earlier today. No. 13 Jeb Burton, No. 17 Timothy Peters, No. 51 Kyle Busch and No. 88 Matt Crafton are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 0 Caleb Roark was the slowest.

For the second time in the Chase, Brad Keselowski is basically in a must-win situation if he wants to advance to the final round of the playoffs. If he wins to advance, he will have recorded victories in each of the Chase segments.

Keselowski has three wins on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks, but in the remaining six events, he has only one other top-10. No one wants to count him out, but he has a steep hill to climb.

Matt Kenseth needs to regain the form on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks that he showed at the beginning of the season. In his first seven attempts on this track type, he swept the top 10, but his latest two attempts ended in a 13th at Kansas and a 19th at Charlotte.

Texas is a good place for him to recover. In his last 18 races on this track, he finished worse than 12th only one time. His most recent of two victories came in spring 2011.

Johnny Sauter leads the first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice session at Texas Motor Speedway.

He ran a quick lap of 180.114 mph in the No. 98 Smokey Mountain/Curb Records Toyota Tundra. No. 17 Timothy Peters, No. 13 Jeb Burton, No. 20 Brennan Newberry and No. 54 Darrell Wallace Jr. round out the top five of the 24 trucks practicing for the WinStar World Casino 350K. Adam Edwards in the No. 57 Chevrolet Silverado was the slowest.

In 27 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races at Texas Motor Speedway, Matt Crafton has one win, two poles, has led 160 laps and produced eight top-five, and 16 top-10 finishes.

Additionally, he has more series starts (27), the most top-five finishes (8), the most top-10 finishes (10), the most lead lap finishes (18), and has completed more laps (4119) than any other driver entered in Friday night's 147-lap event - a combination that could have the Tulare, Calif. native sporting a cowboy hat and blasting six shooters in victory lane on Friday night. TMS is the site of Crafton's last series win of 2014 and he would like nothing more than to become the fifth driver in 33 NCWTS races at TMS to perform the sweep.-ThorSport Racing

Kyle Busch could very easily become the second non-Chase driver to win a playoff race this year. Three of his last five attempts on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks have ended in top-five finishes with one other seventh in that span.

Three of Busch’s last four races at Texas specifically also ended in top-fives and his biggest recommendation comes from his 2013 NRA 500 victory. He was third this spring and carried momentum into the track.

Reigning Sunoco Rookie of the Year Timmy Solomito announced today that he has reached an agreement to drive with Flamingo Motorsports for the 2015 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season.

Solomito, from Islip, New York, has been tabbed by team owner Eric Sanderson to replace Ryan Preece in the Massachusetts-based No. 16 Flamingo Motorsports Ford. Preece departed last week to join TS Haulers Racing. The 22-year-old Solomito posted six top 10s across 13 races in his first full-time season to take home top rookie honors on the Whelen Modified Tour in 2014 in the Long Island-based No. 75 Eastport Feeds Chevrolet owned by Wayne Anderson. He has a pole and eight top 10s in 20 career tour starts.

Joey Logano finished fifth in the Goody's 500, which was his 12 result of sixth or better in his last 14 races.

With the exception of an 11th in the Geico 500 at Talladega, Logano has been one of the strongest drivers in the field for the entire Chase. He won this spring’s Duck Commander 500 at Texas and could sweep the season with another victory in the AAA 500.

Tony Stewart earned his first top-10 since returning to the cockpit after the tragic events of the summer. He finished fourth in the Goody's 500 at Martinsville and now sets his sights on Victory Lane in one of the final three races to extend a streak of winning in each of 16 consecutive seasons.

There is a fairly significant difference between finishing in the top five and winning, but Stewart is certainly capable if the team gets his car right. His last victory came 39 races ago in the summer 2013 Dover FedEx 400.

Jeff Gordon overcame a mid-race speeding penalty on pit road and clawed his way back into contention for the win. He came up one position short in second, but that was enough to give him a narrow points’ lead with two races remaining in the Eliminator round

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s win denied Gordon a chance to get the automatic advance to the Championship round, but with that victory at least two of the Chase contenders will advance to Homestead on points, so Gordon made the most of this situation.
