Despite an unexpectedly slow start to the season in the No. 32 GREE Heating and Cooling Toyota Camry, Dean’s Win-Tron Racing-prepared cars have been fast in the opening two rounds at Daytona and Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville respectively, giving the Mooresville, N.C.-based team high hopes for the third race of the season.

Dean, 22, has never raced at Salem; however, he got the chance to test last week. Fortunately, he got up to speed with Salem’s unique characteristics quickly and turned some very competitive lap times. In nine ARCA Racing Series starts, Dean captured his first career victory in his second career start at Talladega Superspeedway after starting second in April 2016. Overall, Dean has one top-five and three top-10 finishes and has led 21 laps in ARCA competition.

Ryan Blaney posted the second-fastest lap in qualification for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway and will line up to the outside of Matt Kenseth.

This is Blaney’s third second-place start this season. He was on the outside pole at Phoenix International Raceway and Texas Motor Speedway before finishing 23rd and 12th respectively. He has a pair of top-10s after starting third, but those are his only top-10s from the first three rows in 10 attempts during his career.

Matt Kenseth posted a lap of 121.076 mph to win the pole for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

That is Kenseth’s second pole of his career. He grabbed the top spot in spring 2013 in his first attempt with Joe Gibbs Racing and finished seventh. Since then, he has earned five more top-10s in seven Richmond races. On the heels of a strong Bristol Motor Speedway run, he should be considered a favorite to finish well.

Kasey Kahne posted the quickest 10-lap average at Richmond International Raceway in the first practice session with a speed of 119.324 mph.

Only eight drivers made long runs of 10 or more laps and Kahne probably focused on qualification nearly as much as the rest of the field. His fastest lap was only 22nd among 38 drivers, however. He was more than seven-10ths off the fastest lap set my Martin Truex Jr.

Thomas "Moose" Praytor and his No. 9 DK-LOK team have already collected more DNFs in the first two races of 2017 than they have the last two seasons combined. The Moose hopes to fix that when the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200 rolls off on the Salem Speedway high-banks this Sunday.

Salem is the perfect place for him to improve his stat sheet. As it turns out, the Mobile, Alabama veteran has more starts at Salem than any other track on the tour. "Really like Salem…old wore out place, bad fast. Taking Black Betty…looking forward to it." This weekend will be Praytor’s first weekend as ARCA’s Active Ironman with more consecutive ARCA starts than any other active driver,

Ryan Newman has not scored a top-10 finish in his last two years at Richmond International Raceway.

He came close with an 11th in spring 2015. Since then, he has not even cracked the top 15. What makes this meaningful is the fact that he only scored back-to-back results outside this mark once previously during a 13-year career. Newman is going to need to have an incredible Saturday practice session to make him a good fantasy value.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Kyle Larson, driving the No. 42 Credit One Bank Chevrolet Camaro, had the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the XFINITY Series final practice for the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Int'l Raceway.

The average speed of 115.405 mph was best of the 29 cars that ran at least 10 consecutive laps on the track for this final practice session. No. 7 Justin Allgaier, No. 20 Kyle Benjamin, No. 3 Ty Dillon and No. 2 Austin Dillon are the rest of the top-five on this list.

Richmond International Raceway is a better track than most for Danica Patrick. She finished on the lead lap in both of last year’s races.

With limited attrition and NASCAR’s Free Pass/Wave Around rules, Patrick still finished just 24th last spring, but she was solidly in the fall to earn a career-best 15th.
Apr 28 - 4:25 PM

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East regular Kyle Benjamin, driving the No. 20 ToyotaCare Toyota, tops the speed chart in the Final Practice session for the XFINITY Series ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Int'l Raceway.

He ran a fast lap of 117.081 mph. No. 42 Kyle Larson, No. 48 Brennan Poole, No. 7 Justin Allgaier and No. 3 Ty Dillon round out the top-five of the 42 cars out on the track. The No. 8 Camaro, driven by Matt Mills, was the slowest in the final practice session.
Apr 28 - 4:23 PM

Jamie McMurray has a worst finish of only 16th in his last seven attempts at Richmond International Raceway, with three top-fives and a 10th to offset it.

During that span, plus another effort in 2013, he finished on the lead lap in all but one race. The one doubt concerning him would be that his worst result of 16th came in this race last year.
Apr 28 - 4:21 PM

Austin Dillon improved his performance at Richmond International Raceway last year immensely with a pair two top-20s.

That was the first two times he finished on the lead lap in six starts. Previously, he had one top-20 in 2014 and three 27th-place finishes. That consistency gave this team something on which to build and helped him earn last year’s strong results.
