Darrell Wallace Jr. (No. 54 Toyota Tundra) leads the first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice session at Martinsville Speedway.

He ran a quick lap of 96.662 mph. No. 29 Ryan Blaney, No. 17 Timothy Peters, No. 51 Erik Jones and No. 31 Ben Kennedy rounded out the top five of the 37 trucks practicing for the Kroger 250. Jennifer Jo Cobb, in the No. 10 truck, was the slowest.

Joey Logano will have to change a transmission and drop to the back of the pack to start the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

Logano has to give up a fifth-place starting spot, which is how his place-differential will be calculated. This hurts his odds in the race, but he should be able to recoup to finish in the top 10.
Apr 29 - 3:32 PM

Martin Truex Jr. had the best 10-lap average in Happy Hour for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway with a speed of 119.074 mph.

Truex was also second-fastest in that session and rolls off the grid on the inside of the second row. He has a perfect combination to lead laps early and should be considered in most fantasy games.
Apr 29 - 12:49 PM

Kyle Larson posted the fastest single lap in practice for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway with a speed of 119.074 mph.

He was not happy in Happy Hour, however; Larson complained of a loose condition throughout the session and never seemed to get rid of it. In games that limit allocations, it will be safest to give him the weekend off. Hang onto him in keeper leagues because he is still the hottest driver on the circuit.
Apr 29 - 12:27 PM

Doug Coby (No. 2 Mayhew Tools Chevrolet) led the first practice for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler 200 at Stafford (CT) Motor Speedway.

The 100.134 mph lap was the quickest of the 27 cars out on the track for this session. No. 6 Ryan Preece, No. 58 Eric Goodale, No. 85 Todd Szegedy and No. 15 Chase Dowling are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 92 Anthony Nocella was the slowest.
Apr 29 - 11:56 AM

Morgan Shepherd (No. 89 Racing with Jesus Chevrolet Camaro) does not qualify for the XFINITY Series ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Int'l Raceway.

The team is not guaranteed a start in this weekend’s NXS race. Based on NASCAR’s time trial knockout procedure, upon completion of the first round of qualifying, the 40 eligible cars for starting positions one to 40 is determined. The car was listed as 42nd on the chart.
Apr 29 - 11:40 AM

Tommy Joe Martins (No. 45 Diamond Gusset Jeans Chevrolet Camaro) will miss the XFINITY Series ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Int'l Raceway.

The team is not guaranteed a start in this weekend’s NXS race. Based on NASCAR’s time trial knockout procedure, upon completion of the first round of qualifying, the 40 eligible cars for starting positions one to 40 is determined. The car was listed as 41st on the chart.
Apr 29 - 11:39 AM

Daniel Hemric (No. 21 Blue Gate Bank Chevrolet Camaro) won the Coors Light Pole Award for the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) ToyotaCare 250 with a lap of 117.981 mph.

This is his first pole in eight NXS career races and his seventh top-10 start in 2017. Hemric is just the fifth driver in series history to win his first career pole at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) joining Andy Santerre (1998), Wayne Grubb (1998), Butch Lindley (1982) and Geoff Bodine (1982). Kyle Benjamin (second) posted his first top-10 start in his series debut. Cup series regular Daniel Suarez (third) posted his fifth top-10 NXS start at RIR and his third in six NXS races this season.
Apr 29 - 11:34 AM

Chris Buescher posted the fourth-fastest single lap in Saturday morning practice session for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway with a speed of 119.973 mph.

Buescher has been one of the top values each week with six results of 27th or better in six races following the Daytona 500. Last week’s accident at Bristol Motor Speedway spoiled that streak, but he should easily regain his form.
Apr 29 - 10:05 AM

Erik Jones posted the fastest single lap in Saturday morning’s practice with a speed of 120.714 mph.

This is the type of track that should suit his driver style well. It connects both with his short track roots and has elements of an unrestricted, intermediate speedway, on which he has some of his best early results.
Apr 29 - 10:00 AM

Clint Bowyer was expected to run strong at Richmond International Raceway last year based on three consecutive top-10 entering the spring.

Richmond is a drivers’ track and that should have played into his favor even in a lightly-funded car. It didn’t, but given the amount of momentum Bowyer brings to the track this weekend, throw those numbers out the window. He should easily score a top-10 in the Toyota Owners 400.
Apr 29 - 9:43 AM

David Ragan showed a lot of consistency in the past two years with a pair of 23rd-place finishes and a 17th in 2015/2016. Last fall, he crashed twice and failed to finish.

Ragan has move back to Front Row Motorsports this year and most of his results with them ended in the 30s. Don’t look for miracles from this team in Sunday’s race.
