Chase Briscoe's first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race was an exercise in patience, as the 22-year-old persevered through a wild, wreck-filled season-opener to finish third at Daytona.

The No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150 driver started 16th and spent much of the race in the less turbulent outside lane, avoiding the aggressive racing which led to four multiple-truck accidents. Solid pit strategy by crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. and coaching by spotter TJ Majors put Briscoe in the third position on the final restart. He methodically kept his Ford on the inside yellow line, which ultimately allowed him to narrowly avoid a 12-truck pileup and bring home a third-place finish.-Brad Keselowski Racing

Ben Rhodes (No. 27 Safelite AutoGlass Toyota Tundra) looked poised to get his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) win in Friday night's NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona.

He finished third in Segment one of NASCAR's new race format, 12th in Segment two and restarted the third and final Segment seventh on lap 46. On lap 52, Rhodes took the lead, leading the field twice for 20 laps. With four laps remaining in the 100-lap event, a caution was displayed for a spin in Turn 2, setting the field up for a green-white-checker flag finish. The Safelite AutoGlass driver restarted third and worked with teammate, Grant Enfinger to lead the outside line into Turn 2 on the final lap. Unfortunately, Rhodes would get sideways coming out of Turn 2, ultimately causing the "Big One" and relegating the sophomore driver to a 12th-place finish behind race winner, Kaz Grala.-ThorSport Racing

Austin Wayne Self (No. 32 AM Technical Solutions Toyota Tundra) finished second in Friday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Next Era Energy Resources 250 at Florida's Daytona Int'l Speedway.

He started 22nd in the lineup and completed all laps of the 100-lap race. Self is sixth in the 2017 NCWTS Championship standings after this event.

Ryan Reed won the Powershares QQQ 300, his second victory in 106 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races.

This is the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang driver's second victory and fourth top-10 finish in seven races at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). Kasey Kahne (finished second) posted his 12th top-10 finish in 22 NXS races at DIS. Austin Dillon (third) posted his seventh top-10 finish in nine NXS races at DIS. William Byron (ninth) was the highest finishing rookie. Ryan Reed leads the NXS point standings by 9 points over Brendan Gaughan (fifth).

It does not count for his Cup records, but Ty Dillon has already earned one top-10 at the senior level with a ninth in the Can-Am Duel at Daytona.

Actually, make that two. Dillon finished seventh in relief of Tony Stewart last spring at Talladega. Dillon is expected to be the third driver in the Rookie of the Year battle, so there is no reason to avoid him in this wild card restrictor-plate, superspeedway race.
Feb 25 - 6:33 PM

Erik Jones had the 16th-fastest speed in the first practice session of Daytona 500 prelims and was fourth best in the third-practice, but he finished 18th in his Duel and lines up 34th.

Those three factors combine for an average of 18.0, which puts him firmly in the middle of this chart. Great things are expected of Jones, but he should be saved for the upcoming unrestricted, intermediate speedway races.
Feb 25 - 6:26 PM

Kasey Kahne posted the 11-best time in his combined practice sessions.

Kahne rolls off the grid 26th, but he was seventh-fastest in the first practice for the Daytona 500, second-fast in practice two, and 10th in Happy Hour. He should be able to move forward in the race and earn some very important place-differential points.
Feb 25 - 6:20 PM

Joey Logano posted the second-fastest lap in final practice for the Daytona 500 with a speed of 196.751 mph.

Logano won The Clash and finished eighth in his Duel. This year, he has more help in the Ford camp from Stewart-Haas Racing and that should help him earn a top-10 finish.
Feb 25 - 6:16 PM

Brad Keselowski posted the quickest 10-lap average in final practice for the Daytona 500 with a speed of 195.635 mph during his first 10 laps on the track.

Practice is not particularly predictive at Daytona International Speedway, but average speeds are of greater importance than single fast laps. The doubt surrounding Keselowski might come from his level of patience. If he presses the issue at the wrong place and time, he could be the trigger for a "Big One" crash.
Feb 25 - 3:10 PM

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. posted the fastest single lap in final practice for the Daytona 500 with a speed of 198.452 mph.

Stenhouse led a group of six Fords that drafted to the lead. Last year, Toyota set a precedent by working well together and the other manufacturers have taken note. Look for these kinds of deals to define the packs in the race as well—as long as they are able to find one another in the draft.
Feb 25 - 2:04 PM

Brandon Jones won the Coors Light 21 Means 21 Pole Award for this afternoon's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) season-opening Powershares QQQ 300 with a lap of 184.472 mph.

This is the No. 33 Nexteer Automotive Chevrolet Camaro driver's first pole in 39 NXS races. It is his first pole in three races at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). Ryan Reed (second) posted his fourth top-10 start in seven races at DIS. Brennan Poole (third) posted his second top-10 start at DIS. Daniel Hemric (fourth) was the fastest qualifying rookie.
