D.J. Kennington finishes 12th in Sunday's NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race at Circuit ICAR (Mirabel, Quebec).

He started the No. 17 Dodge 13th on the grid for the Jiffy Lube 100. He is currently 3rd in the 2014 NCATS point standings.

When Aric Almirola was racing part time schedules in relief of Mark Martin, Indianapolis Motor Speedway was not a track he got to race. He will make only his third start on this track on Sunday.

Almirola’s record is brief but shows promise as a mid-level pick. He finished 19th in 2012 and was 17th last year. If he can continue to show a little progress, he could earn a top-15 finish this week.

Kurt Busch will compete in chassis 760 this Sunday. Its lone previous start came at Kansas two months ago.

Busch qualified well in sixth and ran in the top five for a while in that race until the car developed a loose condition that caused him to drop back to 29th. Practice makes perfect and this team should have some notes that will allow them to make more proper adjustments for Sunday’s Crown Royal 400.

Juan Pablo Montoya will make his second 2014 start of the season on a track he has always enjoyed. He finished second there in his inaugural attempt and was ninth last year with Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing.

His results have not always matched his effort, such as in 2009 when he was en route to Victory Lane before being assessed a penalty in the pits or the following year when he crashed after earning the pole. Montoya will need to stay out of trouble, but he provides one of the best values in salary cap and pick ‘em games because of his limited starts.

Greg Biffle entered last year’s Crown Royal 400 with a five-race top-10 streak in which he had an average finish of fifth. He faded to 24th on this track amidst a mostly disappointing season.

This year has not been going much better for the 12-year veteran. The last time he finished outside of the 10th-place mark at Indy, he struggled through three seasons before regaining his form. Fantasy players will want to take a wait-and-see approach.
Jul 25 - 5:43 PM

Travis Kvapil will make his 13th start of the season in the No. 32 Ford owned by Frank Stoddard after two weeks on the sidelines.

Kvapil’s last attempt in this car ended in a 34th-place finish, which has been about average for him this season. His last two Brickyard 400 efforts also ended in the 30s and fantasy owners know what to expect from him this weekend.

Brandon Jones is at the top of the speed chart in the final practice leading to tonight's ARCA Racing Series SCOTT Get Geared Up 200 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Brownsburg, Indiana.

The lap of 110.235 mph was the fastest of the 30 cars out on the track for this session. Jones also led the first practice session earlier this afternoon. No. 98 Mason Mitchell, No. 25 Justin Boston, No. 44 Frank Kimmel and No. 77 Tom Hessert are the rest of the top five and No. 8 Barry Layne was the slowest.

NASCAR K&N Pro Series-East regular Brandon Jones leads the first practice for the ARCA Racing Series SCOTT Get Geared Up 200 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Brownsburg, Indiana.

The lap of 110.625 mph in the No. 4 Chevrolet was the quickest of the 26 cars out on the track for the first practice session. No. 80 Brian Finney, No. 98 Mason Mitchell, No. 25 Justin Boston and No. 15 John Wes Townley are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 48 Brad Smith was the slowest.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will campaign chassis 88-882 this week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This chassis was most recently raced at Michigan in June.

Earnhardt posted a solid seventh-place finish in that race and while the corner configuration is different at Indy, both courses have relatively low banking. On Sunday, Earnhardt should be able to pick up where he left off at Michigan.

David Gilliland has finished on the lead lap in his last three starts on flat tracks. He went the distance at Richmond, Pocono, and New Hampshire to finished 20th, 28th, and 24th respectively.

Staying on the lead lap is a key component to potentially earning a top-20 finish, so this should improve his odds slightly on Sunday. Unfortunately, he finished at least one lap off the pace in his previous eight flat track starts.

Brian Vickers will race chassis 803 for Sunday’s Crown Royal 400.

This chassis was pressed into service for the Duck Commander 500 earlier this year and performed well. Vickers finished fourth in that race. It was also used at Charlotte in the All-star race and finished 14th.

Clint Bowyer finished fourth in his inaugural attempt at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. His next three results were outside the top 10. He rebounded to finish fourth in the 2010 Brickyard 400 and then fell outside the top 10 in his next three attempts.

If the pattern holds, he is due to finish fourth again this week, but his 2014 flat track record tells a different story. In five races this year on this track type he finished between sixth and 13th on four occasions. His best result on minimally-banked courses came last week at New Hampshire, however, so he is a dark horse candidate to finish in the top five.
