In the Camping World RV Sales 301, Kyle Larson narrowly missed matching his career-best finish. With a dramatic green-white-checkered finish, he crossed under the checkers third behind Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch. His best career finish is second in this March’s Auto Club 400. This was his fourth top-five in 2014.

More importantly, Larson ended a three-race slide that saw him finish 28th at Sonoma, 40th at Kentucky, and 36th at Daytona. His third-place finish elevated him to 14th in the standings and puts him back in Chase contention based on points. With 11 unique winners this year, only five positions remain open for drivers near the top of the points’ standings.

Darrell Wallace Jr. ran into the back of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. with 27 laps remaining in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and did significant damage. He could not see the track that was being smoked out by a blown engine on Trevor Bayne.

Wallace was not having a particularly good day to begin with. He was outside the top 25 at the time in his first Cup race on a similarly-configured, 1.5-mile track. This makes him a questionable proposition next week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Kyle Busch staid out on old tires for a couple of laps longer than the competition halfway through stage 2 of the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and fell to 8th.

He took a gamble that that didn’t pay off, but with 33 laps remaining in stage two, he should be able to rebound. He lost about seven seconds on the track that takes about 32 seconds to circle.
Feb 25 - 5:03 PM

Several drivers commented over their in-car radio during the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway variations on a theme: "Kevin Harvick is just playing with us." Harvick handily won the first stage of the race. During the pit stop, Harvick's team had a problem with their lugnut hose and had to pit twice. He restarted 19th.

Harvick has been so much faster than the field that he was lifting halfway through the second kink on the fronstretch. He is dominating the QuikTrip 500 and looks to continue through the next two stages.
