Austin Dillon improved his performance at Richmond International Raceway last year immensely with a pair two top-20s.

That was the first two times he finished on the lead lap in six starts. Previously, he had one top-20 in 2014 and three 27th-place finishes. That consistency gave this team something on which to build and helped him earn last year’s strong results.

Freddy Tame Jr. (No. 23 UniCar Autopartes Ford) had a race of ups and downs in the Canel's 200 at the Super Oval Potosino for the second event of the NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series.

He started 21st in the lineup, ran in second for a good number of laps, but in the middle of the race he was hit from behind. After a 360 degree spin, he was relegated to the eleventh place which is where he finished the 147-lap event.

Landon Cassill has not scored a top-20 finish in the Cup Series at Richmond International Raceway since 2012.

His best result in the past four years was a 25th despite the fact that he does not have any DNFs. His 25th-place finish in spring 2013 was also the only time that he finished on the lead lap.

Hugo Oliveras (No. 11 Monster Energy Chevrolet) finished third in the April 23th NASCAR Peak Mexico Series (NPMS) Canel’s 200.

Bret Holmes has raced at Salem Speedway just one time, but it was a good time. He debuted on Salem last September and steered his No. 23 Veterans Oil-Holmes II Excavation Chevrolet to a solid third-place finish.

He is bringing the same car back to Salem for this year's Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200. While focused on Salem this weekend, Holmes has a sharp eye on Talladega. With such a tight turnaround -- the race at Talladega follows Salem by just five days -- Holmes is widening his focus to accommodate the transition between a high-banked half-mile to a high-banked superspeedway, 2.66 miles around.
Apr 28 - 3:31 PM

Rubén Rovelo, driver of the No. 28 Grupo Top/ZTE/Potosinos Chevrolet, finished second in the April 23 NASCAR Peak Mexico Series (NPMS) Canel’s 200.

He started fifth in the lineup and completed all laps of the 147-lap race at Autodromo Potosino in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

In 2013, a young 15-year-old Kyle Weatherman made his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut at Salem Speedway. Weatherman finished fourth that afternoon and gained the attention of everyone in the garage.

This weekend will mark the Wentzville, Missouri native's eighth race at the historic high-banks as he will be behind the No. 78 St. Charles Glass Chevrolet for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM). Weatherman has earned four top-five finishes, five top-10s and has led 150 laps at Salem. He enters the third race of the 2017 campaign second in national championship standings.

Erik Jones posted the second-fastest lap in the first practice session for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway with a speed of 123.035 mph.

That was more than two-10ths off Truex’s lap of 124.178. The drivers are clocking Richmond in 21.743 seconds, so that equates to a significant distance on the track.
Apr 28 - 1:05 PM

Martin Truex Jr. posted the fastest single lap in the first practice session for the Toyota Owners 400 with a speed of 124.178 mph.

In a 400-lap race, qualification matters because track position is difficult to make up. A good pit selection that comes with a top-five start makes it easier to handicap a driver at the top of the order.
