Jamie McMurray finished 16th in the Camping World RV Sales 301 and climbed one position in the standings, but he remains well outside of the Chase cutoff in 21st without a 2014 victory to his credit.

McMurray is known for his ability to score big on NASCAR’s grandest stages, however, and the Cup field rolls into Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400 as their next outing. Fantasy players will want to give serious consideration to starting him in that race, but if he does not perform he could be relegated to the bench for the foreseeable future.

Ryan Newman was .038 seconds slower than Kyle Busch and will start on the outside of the front row for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Newman qualified second last year as well, but a battery problem relegated him to 35th at the checkers. Newman was clocked at 184.419 mph.
Feb 23 - 6:10 PM

Kyle Busch laid down a lap of 184.652 mph in the final round of qualification for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and will lead the field to green this Sunday.

This marks Busch’s 28th career pole, but his first at Atlanta. In 19 previous attempts, he started on the outside pole in 2010 once. He fell to 25th that afternoon. Last year, he started third but dropped to 16th at the checkers.
Feb 23 - 6:07 PM

With a lap of 184.535 mph, Kevin Harvick had the fastest lap in the second round of qualification for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Harvick was almost perfect in regard to top-10s last year. He will be expensive in salary cap games, but well worth it if he fits the appropriate niche on your roster.
Feb 23 - 5:58 PM

Chase Elliott and the team "just didn’t hit it right today" and failed to advance to the second round of qualification. He will roll off the grid 27th on Sunday with a speed of 181.082 mph compared to Brad Keselowski’s 186.434.

As with Martin Truex Jr.—who failed to clear inspection—Elliott will be a hidden gem in games that offer place-differential points. He should still contend for a top-five.
Feb 23 - 5:42 PM

Martin Truex Jr. did not get through inspection on time and failed to make a qualification attempt for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

There is some hidden good news in that stat, however. Failing to make an attempt will force Truex to start at the back of the pack and that insures he is going to earn major place-differential points. He is still expected to finish among the top five.
