After crossing under the checkers 10th at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, Ryan Newman has scored four top-10s in his last eight races of the season. He started the Coca-Cola 600 14th.

Newman is the embodiment of yeomanly work. He has not been flashy in recent races, but in that span of events he has scored an average finish of 14.4 with only one result worse than 17th. He makes a great fill-in pick in almost every Fantasy NASCAR game.
May 30 - 12:35 AM

Joey Logano was caught speeding during a green flag pit stop sequence near lap 250 of the 400-lap distance of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He lost a lap, got back in touch with the leaders by pitting off sequence, and salvaged a ninth-place finish.

Logano keeps scoring top-10s and that makes him a solid fantasy performer, but until he challenges for wins it is difficult to build a roster around the No. 22.
May 30 - 12:29 AM

Rookie of the Year Chase Elliott overcame a pit road speeding penalty in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in route to an eighth-place finish. He was the top performing freshman for the 10th time this season and for the seventh straight race.

Equally important, this was his fourth consecutive top-10 finish. Predictability is hard to come by with first-year drivers, but Elliott is performing more like a veteran with every passing week.
May 30 - 12:21 AM

Matt Kenseth advanced 20 positions from his starting position in the Coca-Cola 600 to finish seventh at Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday night.

In the first 10 races of the 2016 season, it seemed Matt Kenseth could not do anything right. He finished outside the top 10 in eight of those races and recorded a modest average finish of slightly better than 19th. His fourth-place finish at Kansas Speedway was followed by a victory at Dover International Speedway. He is currently seeded seventh in the Chase grid outlook and is suddenly fantasy relevant once more.
May 30 - 12:16 AM

Kurt Busch finished sixth in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway to extend his top-10 streak on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks to 12 consecutive races.

This streak dates back to last year’s SpongeBob SquarePants 400 at Kansas Speedway, and in that span of races on this track type he has averaged a result of 6.7. Winning one’s fantasy league is not only about having the winning driver on the roster, but often about who accompanies him.
May 30 - 12:11 AM

Brad Keselowski earned his first top-five in his last five Charlotte Motor Speedway attempts when he crossed under the checkers of the Coca-Cola 600 fifth.

His last top-five on this was a victory in fall 2013, but he earned three top-10s in the intervening four races. Keselowski started the day fifth and was please to finish there because he slipped from fifth to 10th in the GoBowling.com 400 at Kansas Speedway, which was the most recent race on this track type.
May 29 - 10:38 PM

Denny Hamlin finished the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the fourth-position after starting the day on the outside of the second row—in fourth.

After the race, Hamlin said they had a fourth-place car and he was happy to have finished there. This team and driver have made several mistakes in the pits that cost them a shot at a top-10, so his fantasy owners concurred.
