Matt Kenseth is still seeking his first 2014 win to solidify a position in the Chase. Two of his last three Indy attempts resulted in top-five finishes, so there is reason for his fantasy owners to be hopeful.

Players will also want to consider his flat track record this year. He finished sixth and fifth on the short tracks of Martinsville and Richmond. Last week, he spent the majority of the Camping World RV Sales 301 in the top 10 before scoring a fourth-place finish. Kenseth has some impressive near misses this year, but that could make the competition leery of starting him; he could make him a good differentiator on a player’s roster.

With a few weeks off from NASCAR K&N Pro Series East competition, Tyler Dippel's calendar opened up just in time this weekend for a little ARCA action on the dirt.

The Wallkill, N.Y. racer will be driving the No. 33 TYCAR Trenchless Technologies/D and A Concrete Contractor Toyota Camry in Sunday’s Herr’s Potato Chips 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. It probably won't hurt that Dippel, 17, has vast experience in modifieds on dirt in his home state of New York. With his K&N East owner Mark Rette set to call the shots as crew chief of the No. 33 Toyota, Dippel is hoping that his dirt background will pay dividends and earn him an opportunity to get to Victory Lane.

Jamie McMurray posted the quickest 10-lap average in the first practice session for the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway with a speed of 126.604 from laps three through 12.

Long run speed is critical on a rhythm track like Bristol. McMurray enters the race with six consecutive top-15s, but no top-fives. Look for another finish in that same range.
