One aspect of Roush-Fenway Racing’s (RFR) announcement about their 2015 lineup is the news that Greg Biffle will be part of the 2015 lineup for that team; his contract has been extended and characterized as "multi-year." Speculation all year centered on the possibility that he might also leaver the organization.

Biffle will now be the senior driver at RFR and that will improve his performance. Fantasy owners should consider the upgraded results with Jamie McMurray this season after he assumed the role of lead driver with Chip Ganassi Racing.

Matt Kenseth posted the quickest time in final practice for the GoBowling.com 400 with a speed of 181.496 mph set during his first 10 laps on track.

Kenseth was leading at Kansas last fall late in the going, but he did not have the best long-run car. That allowed Joey Logano to get to his back bumper, the No. 20 was spun out of the lead, and the die was cast for both racers. Kenseth does not want a repeat of the Hollywood Casino 400.
May 6 - 3:26 PM

Jimmie Johnson posted the quickest 10-lap average in the first practice session for the GoBowling.com 400 At Kansas Speedway. His speed of 183.286 mph was set from his second through 11th laps on the track.

Johnson has a scare in the final practice session when a malfunctioning ECU caused his engine to spin backwards. The team does not expect to replace the engine, however, and Johnson should still be considered one of this week’s favorites.
May 6 - 3:22 PM

Martin Truex Jr. posted the fastest single lap in final practice for the GoBowling.com 400 at Kansas Speedway. His top speed was 187.696 mph.

Truex enters the weekend with a seven-race streak of top-15s on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks. Only one of these ended in a top-five, but he was one of the dominant points’ earners in the Duck Commander 500 at Texas and could be a great value this week.
May 6 - 3:04 PM

The engine on Jimmie Johnson’s car apparently started running backwards about 15 minutes into the second practice session for the GoBowling.com 400 at Kansas Speedway. He attempted to shut the engine down, but the team has not yet reported if this created a catastrophic issue. The ECU seems to have malfunctioned.

Johnson has experienced several strange occurrences such as his steering wheel coming off in his hands at Phoenix. If Johnson replaces his engine, he will be forced to roll off from the back of the grid regardless of where he qualifies.
May 6 - 1:52 PM

Kurt Busch posted the fastest time in Friday’s first practice session for the GoBowling.com 400 at Kansas Speedway with a top speed of 185.893 mph.

Busch has the longest string of consecutive top-10s on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks and there is no reason to believe this week will snap that streak. If he fits an appropriate slot on a fantasy player’s roster, he is an easy choice this week.
May 6 - 12:32 PM

In a 50-race career on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks, Aric Almirola has earned seven top-10s. Three of these were earned at Kansas including eighth-place results in spring 2013 and 2014.

In 2013, Almirola swept the top 10 on this track type with another 10th in the fall. Last year, he earned a pair of 10th-place results at Chicagoland Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway, which has made this a track type on which he should be watched closely.
May 6 - 12:15 PM

Brad Keselowski won the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which was his 13th consecutive top-10 finish on a similarly-configured, 1.5-mile track. That turned out to be a pyrrhic victory for the No. 2 team as he saw that streak snapped one month later at Texas Motor Speedway.

Still, the balance is in his favor this week and he should be able to rebound quickly. Most of his results during his long streak were outside the five, however, so he is expected to land somewhere between sixth and 10th in the GoBowling.com 400 at Kansas Speedway.
May 6 - 12:12 PM

Paul Menard had a four-race, top-20 streak going when he rolled into Texas Motor Speedway a month ago for the Duck Commander 500. He finished that race in 26th.

He should be able to rebound to finish at least 20th because that was only the third time since the beginning of 2015 that he failed to do so. Even with three disappointing results, his average result on this track type in the past 13 races is better than 20th at 19.77.
May 6 - 12:11 PM

One week after leaving Daytona International Speedway where he made an unforced error and crashed, Dale Earnhardt Jr. went to Atlanta Motor Speedway and finished second. Last week at Talladega SuperSpeedway, Earnhardt also spun on his own. This week the series rolls onto the similarly-configured Kansas Speedway.

Junior should have been an easy pick in both restrictor-plate, superspeedway races and wasn’t. He seems to have transferred his luck to this week’s track type because he enters with four consecutive top-10s at Texas Motor Speedway, Atlanta, and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
May 5 - 9:13 PM

In his last 12 starts on a similarly-configured, 1.5-mile track, Jamie McMurray has finished 20th or better in 11 races. His outlier was a 21st at Atlanta Motor Speedway this spring and his average finish in that span of race was slightly worse than 14th.

McMurray would have an almost perfect record on this track type if not for an accident in the 2015 Atlanta race. He has not scored a top-five on these courses since 2014, but he ended that season with back-to-back results of third and fifth at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway respectively.
May 5 - 9:12 PM

Clint Bowyer will make a return to NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) competition with JR Motorsports (JRM).

Bowyer, a veteran racer and 19-time NASCAR national series winner, will drive JRM’s No. 88 Morton Buildings Chevrolet Camaro at Chicagoland Speedway (Sept. 17). Bowyer, who currently races full-time for HScott Motorsports in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, is named as the ninth driver to pilot JRM’s No. 88 "All-Star" Chevrolet in 2016. He joins Josh Berry, Alex Bowman, Cole Custer, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Chase Elliott, Kenny Habul, Kevin Harvick and Regan Smith. In nine starts this season, the team holds two wins (Daytona and Richmond), five top-five and eight top-10 finishes.-JRM
