Austin Dillon will race chassis No. 475 this week. This car last saw action in the Quicken Loans 400 in which he finished 30th.

Dillon spent a sizeable portion of that race in the top 10, however, and he was comfortably inside the top 15 before the final round of pit stops. A flat tire caused him to pit multiple times and sent the team home disappointed.

Kurt Busch posted the second-quickest 10-lap average in Saturday morning’s practice session for the Food City 500. His top speed was 125.158 mph in his first 10 laps on the track. He also had the fourth-fastest single lap of 126.088 during his fourth trip around the track.

Busch has five previous wins at Bristol and would like to visit Victory Lane once more. That will punch his ticket to the Chase and complete his return to racing.
Apr 18 - 11:02 AM

Kevin Harvick posted the quickest 10-lap average in the second practice session for the Food City 500 with a speed of 125.725 mph from laps two through 11.

Harvick also had the second-fastest single lap at 126.395 mph. He qualified fourth and has a great balance of early speed and durability. He is heavily favored to score his first Bristol top-five in the last 13 races on this track. His most recent triumph was a fourth in the 2008 Sharpie 500.

Ryan Newman and the No. 31 team have decided to appeal again the penalty stemming from a tire doctoring issue at Auto Club Speedway. In their first appeal, heard by a three-man panel, their points’ deduction and monetary fines were reduced but the suspension upheld against crew chief Luke Lambert. Final Appeals Officer Bryan Moss will hear their arguments next week.

This will put Lambert back on top of the pit box at Bristol for the Food City 500 Supporting Steve Byrnes and Stand Up to Cancer. Newman qualified 18th for the race.
Apr 18 - 10:27 AM

Kasey Kahne posted the fastest single lap in the second practice session for the Food City 500 Supporting Steve Byrnes and Stand Up to Cancer. His top speed was 126.829 mph.

Kahne rolls off the grid eighth on Sunday. He is putting together a complete weekend and should be one of this week’s best values. He has struggled at times during 2015 and could be overlooked by the competition.
Apr 18 - 9:33 AM

Tony Stewart slapped the wall early in the second practice session for the Food City 500 Supporting Steve Byrnes and Stand Up to Cancer. The damage was probably not severe enough to give up his 21st-place qualification effort.

Stewart was one of many drivers who were much too loose to race. He still has at least one more practice session to get it right, but is looking like a risky fantasy proposition.
Apr 18 - 8:43 AM

David Ragan advanced to the top 12 in time trials for the first time in three weeks. He qualified 11th for the Food City 500 Supporting Steve Byrnes and Stand Up to Cancer at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The significance of this is that his last two finishing results ended in the top 15 even with modest qualification efforts. Those have been his best races of the season for Joe Gibbs Racing. His turnaround may actually have come at Auto Club Speedway, however, where he qualified third and was racing with the leaders before getting spun early.
Apr 17 - 9:46 PM

Greg Biffle spun after his first lap of qualification for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. NASCAR allowed him to put on a fresh pair of scuffed tires, but he could not overcome the mistake and will start Sunday’s race 33rd.

Bad luck and trouble continues for Roush-Fenway Racing. Until they reverse their fortune, fantasy players should avoid Biffle until his salary cap drops to a bargain level.
Apr 17 - 9:37 PM

Fully recovered from ligaments injuries sustained in a qualifying crash in the NASCAR XFINITY Series season opener at Daytona in February, Carlos Contreras returns to action this weekend in time to make his Bristol debut in Saturday afternoon’s Drive To Stop Diabetes 300.

Following Bristol, the Mexico, City, Mexico driver is slated to compete in the next two NASCAR XFINITY Series races at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway respectively.
Apr 17 - 8:34 PM

Matt Kenseth posted a lap of 128.632 mph and won the pole for the Food City 500 Supporting Steve Byrnes and Stand Up to Cancer.

This is his second career pole at Bristol. His first came in 2005 and he won the Sharpie 500 after earning it. He also has victories in the fall 2006 and 2013 races that came after he qualified inside the top five. Kenseth could be one of those overlooked drivers who could help differentiate a fantasy roster.
Apr 17 - 5:46 PM

Sprint Cup regular Kevin Harvick has the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the XFINITY Series final practice for the Drive To Stop Diabetes 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The average speed of 121.468 mph in the No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro was best of the 26 cars that ran 10 consecutive laps on the track for this final practice session. No. 54 Denny Hamlin, No. 60 Chris Buescher, No. 2 Brian Scott and No. 20 Erik Jones are the rest of the top five on this list.
Apr 17 - 5:05 PM

Sprint Cup regular Austin Dillon tops the speed chart in the Final Practice session for the XFINITY Series Drive To Stop Diabetes 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The No. 33 Ruud Chevrolet Camaro driver ran a fast lap of 124.412 mph. No. 54 Denny Hamlin, No. 18 Daniel Suarez, No. 60 Chris Buescher and No. 2 Brian Scott round out the top-five of the 39 cars out on the track. The No. 74 Dodge driven by Mike Harmon was the slowest in the final practice session.
