Rafael Martínez finishes 5th in Sunday's NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series race at the Autódromo del Ecocentro de la Unión Ganadera in Querétaro, Mexico.

He started the No. 18 Canal's/Scotiabank/Axalta Mazda 14th on the grid for the Queretana 200. He is currently 9th in the 2014 NMTS point standings after this event.

Kyle Larson posted the fastest single lap in the first practice session for the Kobalt 400. His top speed was 191.646 mph.

That was posted in the final two minutes of the session. He leapfrogged over Jeff Gordon’s lap of 191.225 mph, which was also set late in the afternoon. As the track cools during the evening, look for these speeds to continue to increase and there is the potential for a new track record.

David Ragan ran well early in last week’s Quik Trip 500, but slipped in the middle stages of the race and lost a couple of laps. He is still seeking his first top-15 of 2015 and is in strong equipment subbing for Kyle Busch.

Ragan needs to make some noise this week in order to solidify himself as a place-and-hold driver. In five starts with Roush-Fenway Racing at the beginning of his career, he recorded only one top-20, however, so that could be a tall order.
Mar 6 - 3:57 PM

Before joining Front Row Motorsports, David Gilliland earned three straight top-25s, but in his sixth starts with his current team he is still seeking success. In five previous attempts with that organization, his best finish was a 28th in 2013.

Gilliland was two laps off the pace in that race, but he was running at the end. He could be a decent value in games that offer place differential points because he has lost positions from his qualification effort in only one event in eight starts.
Mar 6 - 3:45 PM

Michael Annett was a little too loose at the beginning of practice for the Kobalt 400. He spun off turn four, but did not make contact with the wall.

Annett’s crew tightened the car up and sent him back out. Halfway through the session, he was posted midway on the chart with a speed of 184.672 mph.
Mar 6 - 3:34 PM

Last week Jeb Burton ran 316 of the 325 laps that make up the Folds of Honor Quik Trip 500. He finished only 35th in his debut, but he gained valuable track time.

Burton has run strong enough in the XFINITY and Camping World Truck Series to make him of interest to fantasy players, but it is going to take some time before he is a starter in the Cup series.
Mar 5 - 11:20 AM

In his first start with Tommy Baldwin Racing, Alex Bowman scored his best finish on a similarly-configured, 1.5-mile track; he finished 23rd. Last year, with BK Racing, his best was a 30th at Charlotte in the fall.

Change is often good for everyone involved so Bowman needs to be watched closely. If he continues to score in the mid-20s, he will be an exceptional value at his salary cap level.
Mar 5 - 10:30 AM

Landon Cassill has blown engines in back-to-back races on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks. He retired on lap 134 of the AAA Texas 500 last fall and lap 92 of the Folds of Honor Quik Trip 500 last week at Atlanta.

Teams have to press the envelope to find the line and Cassill’s three previous results on this track type ended in the 20s. Give the No. 40 team another race or two on unrestricted, intermediate speedways to work out the bugs and then consider starting them as a dark horse.
Mar 4 - 1:16 PM

Travis Kvapil has one of the most consistent last three races to his credit at Las Vegas. He finished 39th in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

There is another driver with the exact same finish in his last three races and Kvapil would prefer to have his record. Carl Edwards has finished fifth in his last three attempts. In a lightly-funded entry this week, Kvapil will probably be happy to make the show. In fact, after having his primary car stolen last week at Atlanta, Kvapil may be content just to take a few laps.
Mar 4 - 12:43 PM

Twenty-two-year-old up-and-coming driver Brett Moffitt will pilot Front Row Motorsports' No. 34 Ford Fusion for the next three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.

The young driver, who finished eighth in Sunday's race at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway, will drive the No. 34 Shaw's Southern Belle Seafood Ford this week at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. He will also be behind the wheel of the No. 34 at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway on March 15 and Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., on March 22.-Breaking Limits
Mar 4 - 10:33 AM

Tyler Reddick finishes fifth in Saturday's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

He started the No. 19 DrawTite Ford F-150 11th in the lineup for the Hyundai Construction Equipment 200. Reddick continues as the points leader in the 2015 NCWTS championship standings. He leads Atlanta race winner Matt Crafton by two points.
Mar 2 - 11:04 PM

In a substitute roll for Brian Vickers this week, Moffitt more than acquitted himself. He finished eighth in the Quik Trip 500 after starting the event 22nd.

Moffitt used a little strategy to gain track position late in the race, but he had to hold off determined charges from the likes of Brad Keselowski, Ryan Newman, and Carl Edwards. This was his first lead lap finish and he could be risky when he is in the No. 66 later in the season.
