Aric Almirola posted the fifth fastest single lap in final practice for the Cheez-it 355k at the Glen with a speed of 128.220 mph.

Almirola credited his speed to tips from teammate Marcos Ambrose. He should be able to beat his three-season average finish of 25.2 on road courses and that could make him attractive in some games.

Sprint Cup regular Kyle Busch wins the WinStar World Casino & Resort 350, his 42nd victory in 124 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races.

This is the No. 51 ToyotaCare Toyota Tundra driver's seventh NCWTS victory and eighth top-10 finish in 2014. It is his third victory and eighth top-10 finish in 12 NCWTS races at Texas Motor Speedway. This is Kyle Busch Motorsports' 12th win of 2014, which ties Ultra Motorsports for the all-time single-season high in victories (2001). With the victory, Toyota has clinched the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Manufacturers' Championship.

Jeff Gordon came within 1/1,000ths of a second of matching Matt Kenseth’s pole winning speed and will line up second to start Sunday’s AAA Texas 500. Gordon’s speed was 199.291 mph.

Gordon started much further back in 12th this spring but was still able to advance to second and challenge Joey Logano for the victory. If he stays out of trouble this week, he should be considered a lock to finish in the top five.
Oct 31 - 7:59 PM

Tony Stewart set the new track record at Texas Motor Speedway with a speed of 200.111 mph. He posted that time in the second of three rounds of time trials.

Stewart could not quite back up his time in the third and final round that sets the pole for Sunday’s race, but he was fast enough to start sixth. Stewart won the pole for the spring Duck Commander 500 on this track and finished 10th, so he is one of this week’s top choices to finish in the top 10 again.
Oct 31 - 7:53 PM

Matt Kenseth posted a lap of 199.299 mph in the third round of qualification for the AAA Texas 500 to win the pole for Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway.

That is Kenseth’s first pole at Texas, but he started on the outside pole in spring 2012 before finishing in the top five. One of his two victories also came after he started on one of the first two rows. His status as a favorite is confirmed.

Sprint Cup regular Austin Dillon tops the speed chart in the Final Practice session for the Nationwide Series O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway.

The No. 33 Grainger Chevrolet Camaro driver ran a fast lap of 185.516 mph. No. 22 Joey Logano, No. 6 Trevor Bayne, No. 62 Brendan Gaughan and No. 31 Dylan Kwasniewski round out the top five of the 42 cars out on the track. The No. 87 Chevrolet driven by Carlos Contreras was the slowest in the final practice session.

Tyler Reddick wins the Keystone Light 21 Means 21 Pole Award for the 16th Annual WinStar World Casino & Resort 350 with a lap of 29.677 seconds, 181.959 mph.

This is the No. 19 DrawTite Ford F-150 driver's second pole in 15 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races. It is his second pole and ninth top-10 start in 2014. This is Reddick's first pole in two races at Texas Motor Speedway.
Oct 31 - 4:43 PM

Brian Vickers posted the fastest single lap in the first practice session for the AAA 500 at Texas. His top speed was 199.218 mph.

The speeds were rising quickly in the closing laps, so fantasy owners should not be surprised to see even faster times in Friday night’s qualification session. Any of the top five should be considered a favorite to score the pole. Behind Vickers, Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Martin Truex Jr., and Jeff Gordon rounded out the top five.
Oct 31 - 2:34 PM

Chris Buescher leads the first practice session for the Nationwide Series O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway.

The lap of 186.085 mph in the No. 60 Bit O Honey Ford Mustang was best of the 40 cars out on the track for this session. No. 22 Joey Logano, No. 6 Trevor Bayne, No. 33 Austin Dillon and No. 2 Brian Scott are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. Carlos Contreras in the No. 87 Chevrolet Camaro was the slowest.
Oct 31 - 2:03 PM

The AAA 500 should be one of Greg Biffle’s best opportunities to score a late-year top-five and be one of the best fantasy values in nearly every game. In his last 12 attempts on this track, his worst finish was a 12th and his best was a victory in spring 2012.

Nearly 60 percent of those starts ended in top-fives and his average since fall 2008 has been a respectable sixth. He has struggled off and on this year and might fly under most fantasy players’ radar screens, which makes him one of this week’s best differentiators.
Oct 31 - 11:06 AM

In nine races on similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks this year, Kasey Kahne has earned eight top-15s. Five of these were top-10s, but he barely missed that mark at Texas this spring and finished 11th in the Duck Commander 500.

Eleventh is precisely where Kahne finished in last spring’s Texas race, but he rebounded to finish fifth in the fall. Watch him closely in practice to see if he might show the same signs of improvement this week.
