Chris Buescher was the top Rookie of the Year contender at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He finished 14th in the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard after starting the day solidly in 22nd. This placed him one position ahead of Chase Elliott.

Buescher and the Front Row Motorsports scored nine top-25 results in the opening part of the season, but this was their first top-15. No one expected it to come in one of the biggest races of the year, but fantasy owners who rolled the dice on him were well rewarded.

Elliott Sadler (#1 OneMain Chevrolet Camaro) finished sixth in Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana.

He started ninth on the grid and completed all of the 63 laps run. Sadler, who started in all 18 series races so far this season, is currently second in the 2016 NXS championship standings after this event, 14 points behind leader Daniel Suarez.

Andrew Ranger (#27 Mopar/Pennzoil/Mopar Express Lane Dodge) finished sixth in Saturday's NASCAR Pinty's Series (NPS) Alberta Has New Energy 300 at the Edmonton Int'l Raceway in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.

He started sixth on the grid and completed all laps of the 300-lap event. Ranger continues as the points leader in the 2016 NPS championship standings. He leads second-place Cayden Lapcevich, who finished third in the race, by nine points after this event.
Jul 25 - 10:08 AM

Justin Allgaier won the season's fourth and final Dash 4 Cash paycheck Saturday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Allgaier finished fifth in the XFINITY Series' Lilly Diabetes 250, which was won by Sprint Cup Series regular Kyle Busch. But the effort was one position ahead of Allgaier's JR Motorsports teammate Elliott Sadler, and that was enough to earn the special $100,000 incentive. The race for the bonus money got intense in the final laps with Allgaier passing Elliott in Turn 4 on the last restart with two laps remaining to take the position and take the incentive money.

Cayden Lapcevich (#76 Fastline Motorsports Dodge) finished third in Saturday's NASCAR Pinty's Series (NPS) Alberta Has New Energy 300 at the Edmonton Int'l Raceway in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.

He started second in the lineup, led 40 laps and completed all laps of the 300-lap event. Lapcevich, who competed in all 6 series races so far this season, is currently second in the 2016 NPS championship standings after this event, 9 points behind leader Andrew Ranger.

L.P. Dumoulin (#47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare Dodge) finished 2nd in Saturday's NASCAR Pinty's Series (NPS) Alberta Has New Energy 300 at the Edmonton Int'l Raceway in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.

He started 5th in the lineup and completed all laps of the 300-lap event. Dumoulin, who competed in all 6 series races so far this season, advanced two positions from 8th to 6th in the 2016 NPS championship standings after this event.
Jul 24 - 9:47 PM

Paul Menard entered the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard as a dark horse after qualifying 23rd. A previous winner on this track, he expected more from his race trim and ultimately got it to the tune of a 10th-place finish.

This was only Menard’s second top-10 on this track, with his other strong run resulting in the 2011 Brickyard 400 victory. He has not been bad, however, and this marks his sixth top-15 in the past seven attempts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Austin Dillon finished ninth in the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard, advanced one spot in the standings, and gave his team a 58-point cushion over the Chase bubble.

As the regular season races wind down and there are fewer opportunities for unique winners to join the Chase, points become increasingly important. A 58-point cushion over 16th in the standings and 48 points over 15th-place Kyle Larson gives this team a little breathing room, but it is not enough that fantasy players need to start worrying about the No. 3 gambling wildly.
Jul 24 - 8:59 PM

Martin Truex Jr. finished eighth in the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard after starting the afternoon eighth. This was his fourth result of 11th or better in the past five Indianapolis Motor Speedway races.

Truex would have preferred to finish in the top five like he did last year, but the big picture reveals he did not crash or experience any trouble. That is important as the series counts down the regular season races with six remaining before the Chase.
Jul 24 - 8:59 PM

Joey Logano and teammate Brad Keselowski gambled on a race strategy no one else employed, but it did not pay off in a win. Logano challenged for the top spot, but got dropped out of the top five late in the going and finished seventh. Keselowski was involved in an accident in the closing laps and finished 17th.

The Penske pals stretched their fuel mileage early in the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard, but once the race experienced several cautions at the end Logano and Keselowski were forced to race for the win on the strength of their engine and race setup. Logano pushed hard on a late restart and got out of the groove—dropping from second to seventh as a result. Keselowski was in the wrong place at the wrong time. This organization has little to lose by gambling and that has marked their past few attempts.
Jul 24 - 8:58 PM

Kevin Harvick finished sixth in the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard and officially regained the momentum it seemed he might have lost at Daytona International Speedway. In that race, he suffered crash damage and finished 39th, which was his second sub-15th-place result of the season.

Harvick was incredibly frustrated with his team at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, however, which belied his fourth-place finish. Regardless of their struggles, Harvick now has seven top-10s in his last eight races this season and continues to be one of the top points’ earners.
