At just 28 years old, Landon Cassill has already made 253 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series. If it's possible for a Millennial to be considered a veteran driver, that's Cassill.

But the journey will have to continue elsewhere next season. Cassill said he was informed Monday he will not return to Front Row Motorsports in 2018, and he will now begin the process of finding a new ride. Cassill acknowledged he was surprised by the decision, but said "there's no message of despair." After getting over the initial shock, he said, there's been a feeling of anticipation to see what else is out there.-jayski.com

Denny Hamlin finished 10th at Sonoma Raceway after winning segment two of the Toyota 350k.

Teams continue to learn how to implement strategies that work with stage racing and the ultimate result. Last year, Hamlin managed to finish in the top-five, but it is going to take some time before a consistent pattern emerges.

Dalton Sargeant (No. 25 Performance Plus Motor Oil Chevrolet Silverado) was credited with a 30th place DNF in Saturday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Eaton 200 at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, IL.

He started 18th in the lineup and completed 31 laps of the 160-lap race before exiting the race (Accident). Sargeant, who started in all 10 truck races so far this season, is currently 11th in the 2018 NCWTS driver standings after this event, 218 points behind leader Johnny Sauter.

Wendell Chavous (No. 49 SobrietyNation.org Chevrolet Silverado) finished 15th in Saturday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Eaton 200 at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, IL.

He started 22nd in the lineup and completed all laps of the 160-lap race. Chavous entered all 10 truck races so far this season and is currently 15th in the 2018 NCWTS driver point standings after this event.

Aric Almirola finished eighth in the Toyota/SaveMart 350k Sonoma Raceway, which is his first career top-10 on this track.

That is an indication of just how strong the Stewart-Haas Racing team is. All four of their drivers landed in the top 10 this week. Almirola continues to lag behind some, but is still a great fill-in pick on one's roster.
Jun 24 - 6:44 PM

Erik Jones finished seventh in the Toyota/SaveMart 350k Sonoma Raceway after starting deep in the field in 20th.

Jones has improved in all three road course races and now has back-to-back top-10s on the track type. Jones had to battle back from early contact with Michael McDowell and use some pit strategy, but that is part of success on road courses.
Jun 24 - 6:29 PM

Kurt Busch finished sixth in the Toyota/SaveMart 350k Sonoma Raceway to earn his 11th straight top-12 on a road course.

Busch is often unassuming on road courses, but his consistency suggests he should be run this August at Watkins Glen International and during the playoffs on the Charlotte Roval.
Jun 24 - 6:25 PM

Kyle Busch finished fifth in the Toyota/SaveMart 350k Sonoma Raceway to earn his seventh consecutive top-10 on a road course.

Busch seesawed through the race, but rose to the top one more time. The four multiple winners all finished inside the top five this week, so the battle for supremacy continues. It does not appear that anything is going to change between now and the playoffs so keep playing the odds and load your roster with marquee racers.

Chase Elliott finished fourth in the Toyota/SaveMart 350k Sonoma Raceway to score his first top-five finish on a road course.

Elliott's only other top-10 on this track type came on this track last year, but he still considers this one of his worst courses. Elliott's last two attempts at Watkins Glen International ended in 13th-place finishes, so don't commit to him too soon on that course.
Jun 24 - 6:16 PM

Clint Bowyer finished third in the Toyota/SaveMart 350k at Sonoma Raceway to earn his sixth top-five in the last eight races on this track.

Bowyer has been stellar on this twisty track in California, but before you start thinking about starting him at Watkins Glen International, consider that he has only a couple of strong runs on that course. Evaluate him there.
Jun 24 - 6:11 PM

Kevin Harvick finished second in the Toyota/SaveMart 350k at Sonoma Raceway after starting sixth.

That was Harvick's fourth consecutive finish of sixth or better on this track. Despite the pit stop strategy, he had a car capable of challenging for the win, but likely had a second-place car. Harvick keeps his momentum alive heading into Chicagoland Speedway.
Jun 24 - 6:04 PM

Martin Truex Jr. split the final segment in half and won the Toyota/SaveMart 350k by 11 seconds over Kevin Harvick.

Truex snookered Harvick and the rest of the field by calling for a pit stop that would have split the race into threes. Harvick was leading at the time and tried to time his stop to come on the same lap. With fresh tires, Truex ran Harvick down and passed him before Harvick pitted a second time. Road course races are won with good strategy calls.
