Even though there are still three months before the drop of the first green flag for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, Timmy Solomito is eager to hit the track again.

And if his last two years of results show anything, Solomito is going to be a major threat for the championship in 2018. The Islip, New York, driver, who has frequented Victory Lane in the last two years, will be entering his fifth season of full-time competition on the tour. The season will also be his fourth driving for Eric Sanderson and the Flamingo Motorsports team -- a combination that has been successful right from their first race together. For the second straight season, Solomito's team will welcome Starrett Tools back as their primary sponsor.

Martin Truex Jr. posted the fastest single lap in final practice for the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with a speed of 131.624 mph.

Truex was fastest in final practice, but lined up right behind him were Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch. The Big 3 are going to continue their domination of the top five this week.

Michael McDowell spun entering turn three in final practice for the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 and did heavy damage.

McDowell appeared to break something at the rear of his car. If he was one of your dark horse contenders, look elsewhere. A backup car is in his future that will make him give up his 29th-place position on the grid.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Ford), driving the No. 22 Ford Mustang, won the Pole Award for today's Lakes Region 200 with a lap of 130.296 mph.

This is his 22nd pole in 252 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races and his fifth pole in ten NXS races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS). This is his second pole and third top-10 NXS start in 2018. Christopher Bell (second), making his first series start at NHMS, posted his 11th top-10 start of 2018. Ryan Newman’s return to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour this weekend is off to a fast start.

The South Bend, Indiana, driver was fastest in practice for today's Eastern Propane & Oil 100 on Friday, and scored his seventh New Hampshire Motor Speedway pole on Saturday morning. He will lead the field of 34 modifieds to the drop of the green flag at the ‘Magic Mile’ just after 2 p.m. His fast time was 132.420 mph around the 1.058-mile oval, giving him the best view of anyone for the start of the eighth race of the season. In his modified career at New Hampshire, Newman has two previous wins in Whelen Modified Tour competition.

Martin Truex Jr. posted the second-fastest lap in Saturday morning's practice session with a speed of 131.200 during 26 laps.

In terms of the Big 3, this second-best average speed gives Truex a slight advantage over Kyle Busch - who landed fifth on chart. Kevin Harvick was not among the top 10.
Jul 21 - 11:11 AM

Ryan Blaney had the fastest overall average at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Saturday morning practice for the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at 131.270 mph.

Average speeds are a better indicator of who is going to succeed on Sunday. Blaney should be in your NASCAR Fantasy Live roster garage at least. He was joined in the top five by teammate Joey Logano, who has also been under-utilized this season.
Jul 21 - 11:04 AM

Denny Hamlin posted the fastest single lap in practice for the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 with a speed of 132.942 mph.

Hamlin is one of the short, flat track masters, but he has been uneven recently. If he holds his speed into Happy Hour, he could be one of the best differentiators on a fantasy roster.

Sixteen-year-old Chandler Smith looks to continue his early success in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards on Saturday July 21 in the running of the Primera Plastics 200 at Berlin Raceway.
