Brad Keselowski apparently ran out of fuel on the final lap of the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway and fell to 27th in the final rundown.

That cost Keselowski dearly in the points. He is now 18 points behind the cutoff line heading into the final race of Round 2. He needs to either win next week or get some help with bad finishes by Martin Truex Jr. or Clint Bowyer.

Regan Smith earned his first top-10 of the season by finishing 10th in the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Smith found out this week that Kasey Kahne will not return to the seat of this car, which should give him the remainder of the races. He has done an admirable job in relief and continues to be one of the best low-cost options for the rest of the year.

Paul Menard finished ninth in the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway after starting the race 30th - giving him a ton of place differential points.

This is Menard's eighth top-15 in the last 11 plate races. He has been solid on this track type throughout his career and should be one of the top values on the big tracks. Time will tell how he performs with next year's rules package.
Oct 14 - 8:14 PM

Erik Jones finished eighth in the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. That is the first time in four starts that he has been running at the end of a race on this track.

There were almost no multi-car incidents during the race, but Jones managed to avoid the last lap carnage. On the heels of his Coke Zero 400 win at Daytona International Speedway this summer, he may have turned a corner on the plate tracks.

Jimmie Johnson survived a single car spin in Stage 1 of the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway that damaged his right front fender to finish seventh at the checkers.

Given his struggles to date - he'll take it. This is Johnson's third top-10 in the last four races this season. He is becoming fantasy relevant.

Justin Bonsignore couldn’t have dreamed of a better way to end his championship season on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Bonsignore captured his eighth win of the season in the Sunoco World Series 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, ending his season by celebrating both a race win and a dominating championship. The win allowed the Holtsville, New York, driver to become the fourth driver in the modern era of the Whelen Modified Tour to sweep all of the events at Thompson in the same season. Steve Park (1996), Mike Stefanik (1998) and Doug Coby (2015) are the other three to accomplish the feat.

AJ Allmendinger finished sixth in the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, which was his best finish since earning a third at Daytona International Speedway this summer.

Joey Logano finished fifth in the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, which gives him three consecutive top-fives at this track.

Plate streaks are hard to come by, so fantasy players have to take notice when they happen. Logano should be on your radar screen next May when the series returns to this track even though the rules package is going to change.
Oct 14 - 7:40 PM

Denny Hamlin finished fourth in the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway and was the only non-Ford driver to finish in the top five.

Ford has been dominant on the plate tracks recently, so Hamlin's feat deserves attention. That gives him his second consecutive top-five finish since being eliminated from the playoffs. Without any pressure, he should challenge for a top-10 again next week.
Oct 14 - 7:38 PM

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished third in the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway after starting the race in 12th.

Stenhouse needed a good solid run this week. Mostly, he needed to keep his nose clean after being involved in several accidents in the last plate race at Daytona. He did both and showed why he is generally considered one of the top choices on plate tracks.
Oct 14 - 7:35 PM

Clint Bowyer did not crash at Talladega Superspeedway for the first time in three races and finished second in the 1000Bulb.com 500 after starting second.
