Former NBA swingman Ime Udoka has been hired as an assistant coach with the Spurs.

Udoka has seven years of NBA experience, including a cup of coffee with the Spurs in 2010-11, and he's also played in the D-League, France and Spain. His diverse experience and no-nonsense attitude should make him a perfect fit on Gregg Popovich's staff. We haven't heard a formal retirement from Udoka, but it appears his playing days are over.

Kevin Durant posted 29 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, three blocks, one steal and four 3-pointers on Saturday, before being ejected for arguing with the refs.

Durant was coming to the defense of teammate Steph Curry, who had just been tossed for throwing his mouthpiece, and there's no reason to think he'll face further punishment. He's cruising along with the elite value his owners expected on draft day, including a stunning 14 blocks through three games. Since the 2013-14 season, only Durant (this year) and DeMarcus Cousins (last year) have had three consecutive games with at least 20 points, three blocks and two 3-pointers.

DeMar DeRozan wasn't bothered by an illness during a 128-96 win over the 76ers on Saturday, scoring 30 points with three rebounds, three assists and one turnover in 27 minutes.

He had Robert Covington off balance all game and was able to get to the line 16 times in this win -- he's only taken one 3-pointer all season. DeRozan did have a rough start with just 11 points on Thursday, but he's clearly capable of scoring 30 against any opponent. He'll get a look at the Spurs in San Antonio on Monday.

Stephen Curry was ejected from Saturday's game for throwing his mouthpiece toward a referee on a non-call late in the fourth quarter.

Curry should face a stiff fine from the league for this one, but it's unlikely he'll get a suspension -- as a precaution, owners should still confirm his status prior to Monday's game in Dallas. Prior to exiting, Curry lit up the Grizzlies for 37 points on 9-of-17 FGs and 13-of-13 FTs, with six 3-pointers, six rebounds, three assists and two turnovers in just 30 minutes.
Oct 21 - 10:57 PM

Serge Ibaka scored 21 points with five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and five 3-pointers in 25 minutes against the 76ers on Saturday.

The 76ers kept leaving him over and he kept burying treys. The Raptors really want to add more 3-pointers to their offensive game plan, so Ibaka could be in for a career year in that department. In the two games so far, he hasn't played any minutes at center, so he likely won't see his role change with the injury to Jonas Valanciunas.
Oct 21 - 10:52 PM

Delon Wright scored 14 points with five rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes against the 76ers on Saturday.

This is not a garbage time special. Wright has looked like a top-three backup point guard so far this year, and he continues to get minutes at shooting guard. He can rack up the defensive stats and it feels like he has 24 minutes in the bag, so he's worth a very long look in standard leagues.
Oct 21 - 10:50 PM

Kristaps Porzingis scored a game-high 33 points in a 111-107 loss to the Pistons on Saturday, adding five rebounds and three 3-pointers.

Porzingis started out the game on fire. He nailed his first seven shots and had 23 points at halftime. However, Detroit focused on shutting down KP in the second half and attempted to frustrate him with physical defense. Porzingis finished the game shooting 11-of-20 from the floor. Porzingis is now averaging 32.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 treys over the first two games of the year. He is also just the second Knick in franchise history to score over 30 points in each of the first two games of a season.
Oct 21 - 10:41 PM

Jabok Poeltl scored 14 points with five rebounds, one steal and three blocks in 17 minutes against the 76ers on Saturday.

Even with Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) going down tonight, Poeltl's role didn't change tonight as coach Dwane Casey wanted to keep his second unit together. Casey has basically run the same rotation when the game isn't in garbage time, so expect Poeltl to get 20-24 minutes even if JV misses time. If you need a center, he's worth a speculative add.
Oct 21 - 10:38 PM

Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) will have an MRI.

Hopefully, it is just a precaution, but this indicates the Raptors didn't just hold JV out because they were up so many points in the second half. The sprain didn't look bad and he wasn't limping much on his way to the locker room, but you never know. Until JV gets the all clear, Bebe Nogueira and Jakob Poeltl will handle the center minutes. Both are worth a look for C-needy owners with Bebe providing defense and Poeltl being the offensive guy.
Oct 21 - 10:35 PM

Ben Simmons scored 18 points during a 128-94 loss to the Raptors on Saturday, adding 10 rebounds, eight assists and three turnovers in 33 minutes.

After playing 37 minutes on Friday, Simmons was likely headed to minutes in the upper 30s if not for garbage time -- he checked out for the final time at 4:52. As for the bad loss, his team missed Joel Embiid, and somewhat surprisingly Simmons had a higher usage rate before tonight when he's next to Embiid for his 47 minutes compared to the 25 without him. Getting this many minutes this early is a great sign for Simmons' fantasy value going forward.
Oct 21 - 10:27 PM

Mike James (shoulder) is expected to play against the Clippers on Saturday.

He leapfrogged Tyler Ulis last night and leads the Suns in net rating, so he's probably going to be in the rotation again tonight. Fantasy owners in deep leagues can keep an eye on him and he is a decent DFS punt tonight.
Oct 21 - 9:11 PM

Coach Earl Watson said Devin Booker (back, hip) will play against the Clippers on Saturday.

He was questionable in the game notes, so Booker had a good chance to play based off that. He played through his injury yesterday and looked fine, so there's little reason to think he will be limited tonight.
