Wizards sign G Steven Gray to a non-guaranteed contract.

He'll be invited to training camp. Gray had a solid Summer League by shooting 50 percent from the field on 6.7 shots per game in 17.3 minutes. The 6'5" guard from Gonzaga will have a tough time earning a role with John Wall at point guard while Bradley Beal and Jordan Crawford project to get most of the minutes at shooting guard.

The Suns "have legitimately closed the gap in pursuit of LaMarcus Aldridge," according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

ESPN's Marc Stein reported this a few hours ago, so the talk of the Suns having a chance at LMA is very real. That said, the Spurs are still the favorites. The Suns are going to have to use a number of players and their trade exception to get a deal done because they are out of cap space. Additionally, LMA is not expected to make a decision tonight.

The Bucks and Blazers have "made significant inroads in the pursuit of free agent Greg Monroe," according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Interesting. The Knicks and Lakers were considered as the favorites to get Monroe and probably make more sense. The Bucks are a really big surprise in this group because they just signed Khris Middleton to a deal. That means Jabari Parker would play more power forward, making Monroe more of a center for them. As for the Blazers, Monroe would slide right into LaMarcus Aldridge's minutes.

The Cavs and Iman Shumpert have agreed on a four-year, $40 million deal with a player option on the last year.

Owner Dan Gilbert is spending some serious dough today. Shumpert was expected to meet with other teams, but the Cavs just put up an offer he couldn't refuse. He was abysmal in the playoffs, making just 36.0 percent from the field. He won't be a fantasy option in most leagues.
Jul 1 - 7:32 PM

The Clippers have agreed to a three-year deal with Paul Pierce worth nearly $10.5 million.

It is going to be at the mini-mid level exception, which will help the Clippers to bring back DeAndre Jordan. The Clippers had some issues with their small forward last year and had to go small a lot, so this is a big move. Pierce is going to be 40 years old when this deal concludes, but the three years in this deal is just to help keep the cap number down.
Jul 1 - 7:09 PM

Paul Millsap has agreed to a three-year, $59 million deal to stay with the Hawks.

It's likely a three-year deal with the a player option for the third year. Millsap signing a deal is a big domino to fall here, so there are likely going to be some lesser power forwards agreeing to deals now. Millsap was wonderful with the Hawks last year and is great in their system, so look for him in the second round of drafts.
Jul 1 - 6:37 PM

Brandan Wright and the Grizzlies have agreed on a three-year deal worth nearly $18 million.

He's an interesting player to the Grizzlies rotation in their second unit, which will be able to play with a bit more pace now. Wright picked up big playing time in April with the Suns, averaging 10.6 points, 7.0 boards, 2.2 blocks and 1.4 steals in 30.8 minutes per game during that span. He'll be someone to watch if Marc Gasol misses time due to injury. To be clear, the Grizzlies are heavy favorites to land Gasol.
Jul 1 - 6:34 PM

The Mavericks met with unrestricted free agent DeAndre Jordan for 4.5 hours.

The Mavs were not able to bring back Tyson Chandler, so they're going to be all in on Jordan here. He's from Texas, the Mavs can offer max money, and he would work nicely in coach Rick Carlisle's system.
Jul 1 - 5:30 PM

Unrestricted free agent LaMarcus Aldridge and Kobe Bryant "didn't quite gel" at their meeting.

LMA reportedly "didn't quite get answers from Kobe we was seeking." The Lakers have a lot of attractive parts of their franchise, but it's really going to be hard to convince free agents to sign there with Kobe's $25 million on the books this upcoming season.
Jul 1 - 4:46 PM

The Lakers will not be signing LaMarcus Aldridge, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times.

According to this credible report, Aldridge disliked the basketball part of the presentation, which is a fairly important part of basketball free agency. The Lakers were considered as the No. 2 team to land Aldridge, so the Spurs' chances are looking even better.
Jul 1 - 4:37 PM

LaMarcus Aldridge is planning to finish his meetings before making a decision.

There are multiple reports that he's very impressed with the Spurs. Considering the Spurs have already moved Tiago Splitter in order to get Aldridge, they are the favorites to land him. Of course, the Suns could sneak in there with the possibility of a sign-and-trade, which may include Eric Bledsoe.
Jul 1 - 4:30 PM

Monta Ellis is in Indiana to meet with Larry Bird and the Pacers.

The Pacers are reportedly prepared to offer a three-year, $32 million deal, so they might actually get a deal done after this meeting. If it doesn't go down, expect the Kings, Heat and Mavs to get a crack at Monta.
