In an interview with NBA TV's Steve Aschburner, Derrick Rose mentioned the possibility that he could miss the entire season as he recovers from knee surgery.

Rose is still targeting the All-Star break for a return and it's entirely possible it happens. But how much he'll be able to do in the last couple months of the season is still a huge question mark. We're advising owners to stay away in standard leagues, unless you have extremely deep benches. It's a simple strategy issue as anybody selecting Rose will have decreased ability to attend to their roster throughout the year. If your league starts to get into the 20-team range with a standard set of bench slots, then owners should consider stashing the former MVP.

According to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders, the Suns are interested in Mindaugas Kuzminskas.

The rookie forward has been a nice surprise for the Knicks, so New York isn't going to just give him away -- he's on a reasonable contract valued at $2.95 million in 2017-18 and $3.68 million in 2018-19. The Suns are possibly going to deal P.J. Tucker at the deadline, so a potential move to the Suns for Kuzminskas could be good for his fantasy value. Nothing is imminent and there are better stashes at the moment.

According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, the Bulls have "shown no inclination" to include a first-round pick in a potential deal for Jahlil Okafor.

This goes to show how much value Okafor has around the league. We've heard reports that the Bulls are offering Nikola Mirotic for Okafor, but that's probably not going to cut it for Philly. Okafor will be one of the most popular names in the rumor mill today so this won't be the last thing you hear about him leading up to the deadline.
Feb 23 - 9:12 AM

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, Taj Gibson has emerged as a trade target for the Thunder.

The 31-year-old PF is playing on a $8.95 million expiring contract, and with the Bulls considering a rebuild, his name has been in the rumor mill for a while. You would think that Gibson would get a short-term boost in OKC with Enes Kanter (arm) on the shelf, but the big man went through a non-contact practice on Wednesday and is said to be nearing a return. A trade would likely hurt Gibson's value, but Bobby Portis would instantly become relevant since coach Fred Hoiberg said that he is officially ahead of Nikola Mirotic on the depth chart.

Thon Maker will continue to start at center for the Bucks, according to coach Jason Kidd.

Milwaukee seems to be fully embracing the stretch-five idea after struggling to develop an effective center rotation with John Henson, Greg Monroe, and the recently-traded Miles Plumlee. In seven starts this season, Maker is averaging 7.3 points, 1.3 triples, 3.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.6 blocks.

Tiago Splitter will reportedly be dealt to the 76ers as part of a package for Ersan Ilyasova.

The Sixers have three centers on their roster, with Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel already mentioned in trade talks, and Splitter has yet to play this season due to injuries. His contract is expiring and this is entirely about the salary cap, draft picks, and clearing room for Dario Saric. Saric was already trending up and he's simply must-own as the obvious starting PF with Ilyasova out of town.

The Pelicans are close to signing Hollis Thompson to a 10-day contract, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

New Orleans lacks depth in the backcourt and wings, following their splashy trade for DeMarcus Cousins, and they recently auditioned Thompson in addition to Mario Chalmers, Quinn Cook and Reggie Williams. He'll be a bit player, assuming he does crack the Pelicans' rotation, and the vast majority of owners can leave him on the wire.
Feb 22 - 7:23 PM

Deron Williams and Andrew Bogut did not practice on Wednesday.

Coach Rick Carlisle said everyone can "read into what you want" about this move being tied to the trade deadline. Owner Mark Cuban has also talked about the Mavs taking on salary to get a draft pick. The Mavs aren't under the cap right now, so that makes dealing veterans even more likely. Deron would almost certainly lose fantasy value on a new team. Yogi Ferrell is still a hold.

The Wizards will acquire Bojan Bogdanovic and Chris McCullough in a trade with the Nets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

The Nets will get back Andrew Nicholson, Marcus Thornton and a lottery-protected 2017 first-round pick. The Wizards lost out on the Lou Williams sweepstakes, so they'll go after the next easy trade target out there. Bogdanovic's playing time was really trending up with 29.4 minutes per game in February, averaging 15.1 points, 5.3 boards, 1.6 assists and 1.7 treys. Obviously his value will be falling off a cliff in fantasy. Meanwhile, guys like Caris LeVert, Sean Kilpatrick, Joe Harris and Thornton should all be looking to pick up some of that playing time. Most owners can take a wait-and-see approach, especially with Jeremy Lin likely to return.

An MRI revealed Miles Plumlee (calf) has a second degree strain and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

The Hornets are razor thin at the five spot with Cody Zeller (quad) also doubtful, so this one really hurts. On the positive side, Frank Kaminsky has played very well at the center spot and looks to be locked in to big minutes, making him worth owning in standard leagues in the short term.
Feb 22 - 3:57 PM

Coach Mike D'Antoni called Lou Williams the seventh man in the rotation.

He also said Williams should be helping Eric Gordon, which suggests Lou will be passing more than he did in Los Angeles. Williams was carrying the Lakers' second unit with a 30.0 usage rate and also in the top 25 for unassisted baskets among the 170 players with at least 30 games and 24 minutes per outing. Williams is also a good catch-and-shoot guy at 39.6 percent on treys, so basically he can get his own shot and create his own. Plus, he's just behind fifth-ranked DeMarcus Cousins for fifth in free throws per 36 minutes to also be a great fit there. Williams' fantasy value will be taking a hit here, but he could still have some late-round appeal.
Feb 22 - 3:36 PM

Kenneth Faried (ankle) is doubtful for Thursday night against the Kings.

He has been out since Feb. 8 due to his ankle injury, but Faried did go through some practice on Tuesday. The Nuggets did practice on Wednesday, so we'll be looking out for any reports on his status for that one. If he can't go, we should see a decent amount of Juancho Hernangomez and maybe a little more Mason Plumlee at the four.
