Sixers exercised Evan Turner's fourth-year contract option.

It would have only been a surprise if Turner's option wasn't picked up by the Sixers. With Andre Iguodala now in Denver, Turner is entering a pivotal third season. In an unrelated note, Turner also returned to practice after previously sitting out with a sprained ankle.

Tyler Johnson (shoulder) is being listed as questionable for Friday's Game 6 against the Hornets.

Johnson was available to play for Game 5, but didn't actually step foot on the court. He'll likely again be available for Game 6, but he won't play enough minutes to matter in any setting.

Blake Griffin will not require surgery to repair his left quad.

Griffin underwent a bone marrow procedure on Wednesday, which is similar to a PRP injection and effectively eliminates the need for surgery. He's going to be sidelined for at least the next three months, so in addition to missing the remainder of the postseason, he won't be able to participate during the 2016 Olympic Games. He should be fine for the 2016-17 season, though.
Apr 28 - 4:07 PM

Nicolas Batum will again come off the bench for Friday's Game 6 against Miami.

The Hornets have now won three in a row, and Batum doesn't want to disrupt the chemistry of the first-unit. His ankle still isn't quite 100 percent, so expect his minutes to be in the 25 range. Kemba Walker, Courtney Lee, Marvin Williams, Frank Kaminsky and Al Jefferson will start.
Apr 28 - 3:01 PM

Hassan Whiteside said that his right hand is swollen, but he will fight through the pain and play in Friday's Game 6 against the Hornets.

Whiteside hurt his hand during Game 5's loss, but it doesn't appear to be anything serious enough to force him to the sidelines. Check back for another update on his status closer to Friday's tip.

Stephen Curry (knee) will begin testing his knee on the court next week, according to Marc J. Spears of ESPN.

Spears reports that Curry is feeling better, according to sources, and is targeting next week to test his knee as he attempts to get back on the court. The Warriors are still awaiting a winner from the Clippers-Trail Blazers series, so he'll have some extra time to recover from his Grade 1 sprain. Shaun Livingston will continue to start as long as Curry is out, but we'll undoubtedly have updates before Golden State's next series starts.

Klay Thompson and the Warriors obliterated the Rockets in a series-clinching win on Wednesday, led by Klay's 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including a 7-of-11 mark from downtown.

Golden State built a 30-point lead mid-way through the third quarter, fueled by a 3-point barrage from Thompson, and they won by a final score of 114-81. He's the first player in NBA history to make at least seven 3s in consecutive playoff games -- if nothing else, tonight's eruption confirms that the Warriors are a scary team even when one Splash Brother is in street clothes.
Apr 28 - 1:27 AM

Shaun Livingston made 7-of-8 shots for 16 points during the Warriors' Game 5 victory, adding three boards, three assists and just one turnover in 28 minutes.

Livingston is a savvy defender whose offense is underrated -- he's not a 3-point threat, but he's a great passer who consistently uses his 6'7" frame to shoot over smaller guards from the paint out to 20 feet. Steph Curry (sprained knee) has an uncertain return date, so Livingston could earn at least a few more starts at PG in the second round of the playoffs.
Apr 28 - 1:25 AM

James Harden scored 35 points (12-of-13 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs) with six boards, six assists and seven turnovers on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough to keep the Rockets from elimination.

Trevor Ariza's offense dried up vs. Golden State, the Rockets couldn't get Dwight Howard consistent touches around the basket, and the offensive burden proved to be too much for Harden to shoulder alone. He opened tonight's game 6-of-8 from the field, with his teammates a combined 0-of-15, resulting in a huge early deficit that Houston simply couldn't overcome. It will be an offseason of soul-searching for the Rockets.
Apr 28 - 1:24 AM

The Rockets collapsed on Wednesday, losing 114-81, with Dwight Howard contributing eight points (3-of-13 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), 21 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 45 minutes.

This is the first time in the series that Howard attempted more than 10 field goals, a fact that wasn't lost on coach J.B. Bickerstaff. "We just gotta get him the ball," Bickerstaff said before the game. "We feel like we have an advantage in the post." More touches didn't help Howard tonight and his season ends on a dour note. He has a $23.3 million player option this summer and will likely go for another long-term deal in free agency, so it will be interesting to see how hard teams pursue him at this stage of his career.

Jamal Crawford moved into the starting lineup on Wednesday and proceeded to launch 23 shots, making six of them to finish with 17 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Crawford started alongside Austin Rivers, J.J. Redick, Paul Pierce and DeAndre Jordan, a unit that played a mere four minutes together during the 2015-16 season. Doc Rivers' gamble was born of desperation and resulted in a home loss, but Crawford is guaranteed a huge role again in Game 6 -- he played 44 minutes tonight and was the focal point of the Clippers' offense.
Apr 28 - 1:05 AM

C.J. McCollum led Portland with 27 points during Wednesday's Game 5 win in L.A., making 9-of-18 FGs and 7-of-8 FTs with four boards, four assists and two blocks.

He committed just one turnover in 38 minutes, and he knocked down two 3-pointers while joining Damian Lillard in a second-half surge that led to a double-digit road victory. Portland is one win away from advancing to a second-round matchup with the Warriors, and their odds are looking good with a home game looming and both Chris Paul and Blake Griffin out of commission.
