J.R. Smith scored 17 points off the bench in the Knicks' blowout win over the Sixers on Monday, hitting 7-of-15 shots (including two threes) with seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block in 34 minutes.

Smith profiled to be a solid mid-round producer when the Knicks still expected Amare Stoudemire to be a big piece of the offense, and now that Amare has been marginalized by injury and in general the door is wide open for Smith. He is a 'hold' and owners can sit back and enjoy the ride. One point to note, however, is that Smith threw what looked like a flailing punch at Royal Ivey during the game, and the league could theoretically take some action. He received a technical foul and stayed in the game.

Anthony Davis hit 16-of-34 shots and 13-of-15 free throws for 45 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks in Tuesday's 116-113 overtime win at Boston, the third straight for the Pelicans.

This wasn't a season-high performance for AD, as he went off for 48 points and 17 rebounds on Sunday against the Knicks. Davis has been crazy good for three straight games, as well as the whole season, and is averaging 43 points, 14 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 2.3 blocks over his last three. Unfortunately, he's also played 45, 50 and 41 minutes in each of those games and big minutes are not what AD's owners need from him. You have to wonder if there's a chance he sits on Wednesday night against the Hawks. The good news is he looks fully healthy and energized, and even rammed home a dunk after the buzzer as an exclamation point tonight.

Khem Birch set multiple career-highs on Tuesday vs. the Wolves, scoring 12 points (4-of-6 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs) with 10 rebounds, one assist and four blocks in 19 minutes.

He played a total of 20 minutes this season prior to Tuesday, but coach Frank Vogel gave him a look with Marreese Speights (personal) out and he made a big impression. It's possible that the Magic will give him another chance even when Speights returns since this is becoming a lost season anyways, so put him on your watch list if you need a big man. We'll let you know if he keeps it going on Thursday vs. the Cavaliers.
Jan 16 - 9:47 PM

Evan Fournier went off for a career-high 32 points in Tuesday's win over the Wolves, hitting 12-of-22 shots and 2-of-2 free throws.

He also matched a career-high with six triples, adding three assists and two rebounds in 35 minutes. Fournier is off to a slow start in January with averages of 14.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.3 triples prior to tonight, so hopefully this performance will get him going. He gets a matchup with the Cavaliers on Thursday, a team that has allowed 118+ points in four out of their last five games.
Jan 16 - 9:40 PM

Bismack Biyombo dominated the Wolves with 10 points, 16 rebounds (six offensive), two assists, one steal and five blocks in a 108-102 win on Tuesday.

That's his 17th career game with five or more blocks and his second of the season (he also had five blocks on Dec. 26). Biyombo has been dominant over his last three games with 15.0 points, 12.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks, and while he'll continue to eat while Nikola Vucevic (hand) is out, the Magic will have a tough decision on their hands around the trade deadline -- Vucevic is on the books for $12.7 million next season and could be a trade candidate with Orlando looking at another lost season.
Jan 16 - 9:30 PM

Will Barton will start against the Mavericks on Tuesday.

It sounds like this is a matchup move, but Barton is worth deploying in fantasy lineups regardless of where he begins the game. He'll join Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, Wilson Chandler and Nikola Jokic in the first unit.
Jan 16 - 8:54 PM

Skal Labissiere is questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Jazz with a left shoulder strain.

All we have to work with is the injury report, so we don't know any details on the severity or whether or not he practiced on Tuesday. If Labissiere can't go, we should see Zach Randolph play a lot of minutes after he was rested in his last outing. The Kings are trying to get their younger guys more playing time, so keep an eye on the second-year big man.
Jan 16 - 8:40 PM

J.J. Redick (left leg) will be re-evaluated in 10 days to two weeks.

An MRI revealed a bone edema and a small cortical crack in the fibular head of his left leg. It's important to note that he's not a lock to return in 10 days to two weeks, but Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Redick is likely going to miss a "short window of time." T.J. McConnell looks like a solid pickup with Philly expected to use more two-PG lineups, while we could see more of Timothe Luwawu and Jerryd Bayless.
Jan 16 - 8:11 PM

Arron Afflalo and Nemanja Bjelica were both ejected in the second quarter of Tuesday's game.

Both players were chirping at each other for a few minutes, but Afflalo started swinging when the two were competing for a rebound. Afflalo is likely looking at a suspension, but he shouldn't be owned in fantasy leagues anyways. While he's out, Wes Iwundu and Mario Hezonja could pick up some extra minutes.
Jan 16 - 7:50 PM

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, J.J. Redick’s left leg injury "isn’t serious" and he will "likely miss only a short window of time."

While this is good news, we still don't have a real timetable yet. His fantasy owners should sit tight as we should get an update from Philly on Wednesday morning. While Redick is out, we could see more of T.J. McConnell and Timothe Luwawu.
Jan 16 - 7:17 PM

James Harden (hamstring) has been upgraded to questionable for Thursday's game against the Timberwolves.

Mike D'Antoni said on Sunday that there was a chance Harden could make it back to the court for Thursday's game, although Monday's reported incident between the Clippers and the Rockets could complicate things. We're sure to get a few more updates on Harden leading up to Thursday's tip, but if he is able to get back out there, Eric Gordon would return to the bench and Gerald Green's value would take a hit. Stay tuned.
Jan 16 - 6:33 PM

James Ennis (right calf) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Knicks.

This is the first we're hearing of a calf issue for Ennis, but we'll have a better idea on his status based on what he can do at Wednesday morning's shootaround. If he's out, his minutes will likely be divvied up between Dillon Brooks and Jarell Martin.
