Andre Drummond scored a career-high 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting with eight rebounds, one steal, and one block in 21 minutes off the bench on Friday against the Thunder.

Drummond might disappear from time to time when teams take advantage of his lack of experience, but eventually he's going to get heavy minutes and we're seeing what he can do with them. He's a better stash than Derrick Favors right now, simply because he has a clearer path to minutes than Utah's similarly situated uber-beast -- though Favors might be a more stable low-end play early on. Give Drummond strong consideration for pickup in 12-team formats.

Cavs Coach Tyronn Lue said he has to "do a better job" of getting Kevin Love involved in the offense a little more.

"When we're playing slow and we're not moving the basketball and we're not moving bodies, he really doesn't benefit," Lue said. "We've got to do a better job getting Kevin more involved." LeBron James made similar comments about Love, and the team seems committed on getting him going early and often. He's still adjusting to his new role at center and he had a quiet opening night with 15 points, 11 rebounds and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes, but the big lines are coming.

According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, JaMychal Green (ankle) is expected to miss several weeks.

AN MRI on his left ankle sprain came back clean, but he's still going to be out a while. With Green sidelined, Chandler Parsons will have to play more four, while Jarell Martin and Brandan Wright should both be more involved as well. In terms of fantasy pickups, most owners can probably use a wait-and-see approach.
Oct 19 - 12:22 PM

Kris Dunn (finger) had his stitches removed and could be cleared for live contact in 4-5 days according to Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg.

His initial timetable had him returning to the court in early November, so he has a chance to beat that. The Bulls probably want him to get in a couple practices before returning to game action, so Jerian Grant still has a chance to run away with the starting job.
Oct 19 - 12:19 PM

Jeremy Lin (knee) suffered a patellar tendon rupture on Wednesday and will miss the rest of season according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Nets confirmed this reports just a few minutes after. This is a huge loss for Brooklyn and it robs NBA fans of the chance to see their dynamic backcourt pairing of Lin and D'Angelo Russell. Lin has a player option for $12.5 million next season, so it's going to be hard for him to turn that down. He should make a full recovery and will hopefully be ready to roll in 2018-19. With Lin out, Russell will take on most of the ball-handling responsibilities, while Caris LeVert and Spencer Dinwiddie will get a bump as well. Isaiah Whitehead could also get a chance to earn a rotation spot. Get well soon, Lin.
Oct 19 - 10:38 AM

Buddy Hield looked good in 33 minutes as a starter on Wednesday, hitting 8-of-17 shots with three 3-pointers for 19 points, five rebounds and four assists.

The second-year SG added one steal with two turnovers in 33 minutes. This could give him a leg up on injured Bogdan Bogdanovic (ankle) for the starting job, if nothing else, and it's a solid start to the 2017-18 season for everyone who gambled on him in the late rounds.
Oct 19 - 3:34 AM

Clint Capela piled up 22 points, 17 rebounds, three steals, one block and one assist in 28 minutes vs. the Kings, making 10-of-12 field goals and both of his free throws.

Capela did this without Chris Paul's passing genius on the court tonight, and he's set up for a tremendous fantasy season. He's a natural source of boards and defensive stats, and his scoring should overwhelmingly be of the high-percentage variety on lobs and putbacks. Congrats to those with the foresight to draft him.
Oct 19 - 3:31 AM

LaMarcus Aldridge continued his impressive run on Wednesday with 25 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 39 minutes vs. the Wolves.

Aldridge looked great all preseason, San Antonio recently inked him to a three-year extension, and Gregg Popovich took the blame for LA's struggles since joining the Spurs -- "He just didn’t feel comfortable and it’s 98.75% on me." The offense is now geared toward giving Aldridge room to operate in his comfort zones, mostly at the elbow, but owners should still expect a dip once Kawhi Leonard (quad) gets back on the court.
Oct 19 - 2:59 AM

Pat Connaughton scored a career-high 24 points against the Suns on Wednesday with two rebounds, two assists and four 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

Just a few months ago there was some talk that Connaughton would switch to baseball, so apparently he made the right call. Although, it helped the Blazers picked up his $1.4 million option in August. Great story aside, he'll lose most of his minutes when C.J. McCollum comes off suspension to face the Pacers on Friday.
Oct 19 - 2:49 AM

Rodney Hood (illness) didn't start on Wednesday, and he finished with just six points, two boards and two 3-pointers in 18 minutes.

A stomach bug caused Hood to stay in the locker room to begin the game, but his starting role should be safe despite Utah's affinity for rookie guard Donovan Mitchell. We're chalking up Hood's low playing time to the illness, and will let you know if there's more to the story. In case it's not clear, Hood is a definite 'hold' everywhere.
Oct 19 - 2:08 AM

Grizzlies rookie Dillon Brooks went off in his debut on Wednesday, scoring 19 points with five rebounds, four steals, two assists and two blocks in 29 minutes off the bench.

Brooks showed flashes of potential in the preseason, but nothing suggested he'd post a well-rounded fantasy line in his NBA debut. JaMychal Green's early exit opened up the rotation, and starters James Ennis and Andrew Harrison did little to advance their own cause tonight, so credit to the rookie for taking full advantage. Grab him if you have a likely roster spot, but don't cut a reliable player for him after one (very) nice game.
Oct 19 - 1:51 AM

DeMarcus Cousins blocked a career-high seven shots during Wednesday's season-opening loss, adding 28 points, 10 rebounds, three 3-pointers and a pair of assists.

Alvin Gentry emphasized that he wants to deploy Cousins and Anthony Davis together as often as possible this season, despite the league's shift toward smaller lineups. For fantasy purposes, they've already proven that they can co-exist as elite options, and Boogie's owners can't have asked for more than a career-high in blocks on opening night. He's healthy and ready to roll.
