Iman Shumpert (knee) says doctors have told him he is on target to return in January and isn't worried about his role on a crowded roster.

Shumpert is expected to resume his role as the starting SG, but that doesn't mean he's got a lot of value. The Knicks are deep in the backcourt and on the wings and minutes could be hard to come by if or when Amare Stoudemire (knee) returns. Fantasy owners should leave Shumpert on the wire and evaluate his playing time when he returns.

James Harden was his usual self against the Spurs on Friday during a 96-87 win, scoring 25 points with four rebounds, two assists, one steal and five 3-pointers.

He was the top player in all of fantasy basketball after the break last season and the Rockets lost two of their highest usage-rate guys last season. The Beard is going to dominate again this year and is fantastic top pick in the early first round.
Oct 24 - 10:47 PM

Joakim Noah logged a preseason-high 32 minutes on Friday, converting them into six points, 17 rebounds, nine assists and three turnovers in a loss to the Wolves.

Offseason knee surgery and the arrival of Pau Gasol have clouded Noah's fantasy outlook somewhat, but this near triple-double is a reminder that he's still a top-50 fantasy value. His knees haven't been an issue during the preseason and coach Tom Thibodeau is never shy about giving his key players heavy minutes, making Noah a reasonable gamble as a No. 1 center.
Oct 24 - 10:38 PM

The Bulls lost their final preseason game to the Wolves, 112-113 despite Derrick Rose's team-high 27 points, three 3-pointers, two rebounds and five assists in 32 minutes.

D-Rose knocked down 12-of-23 FGs with three 3-pointers in just 32 minutes, and one of his triples brought Chicago within a basket in crunch time. Don't look now, but D-Rose averaged 28.5 points in the Bulls' final two exhibitions and looks primed for opening night. There have been no concerns about his surgically repaired knee so his preseason can be deemed an unqualified success.
Oct 24 - 10:35 PM

Kyle Lowry was in regular-season form vs. the Knicks on Friday, chipping in 12 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and one steal in the Raptors' home victory.

K-Low doesn't have the cachet as other PGs like Damian Lillard or Kyrie Irving, but he's every bit as valuable for fantasy purposes. He was a second-round value last year and enters the 2014-15 season as a clear-cut leader for the Raptors, so there's nothing preventing him from a repeat performance.
Oct 24 - 10:13 PM

Magic G Luke Ridnour was diagnosed with a bruised right quad after colliding with Chandler Parsons during Friday's exhibition.

The contusion could jeopardize his status for Orlando's season-opener, but it's a relief that he didn't do more serious damage. Ridnour's role as a low-minute backup and locker-room leader is not conducive to fantasy success.
Oct 24 - 9:40 PM

Jamal Crawford was given the night off on Friday due to minor hamstring soreness.

Doc Rivers said that Crawford could have played if this were a regular season game, but the 34-year-old will watch from the sidelines as L.A. tries to wrap up the preseason with a win vs. the Trail Blazers.
Oct 24 - 8:56 PM

Luol Deng will not play against the Grizzlies on Friday due to lower back tightness.

He's had a number of back injuries, but it doesn't sound serious. Deng is expected to be in the lineup next week and will look to get it going after a quiet preseason. He's an option in the later rounds.
Oct 24 - 7:52 PM

Derrick Favors will not play on Friday due to left knee soreness.

He's only missed one game due to knee problems and that was back in 2012, so we're not concerned. Favors was a beast in his last five preseason games, averaging 13.0 points, 8.4 boards, 1.6 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.6 steals in just 24.0 minutes. We still love him as a player to target in the late-early rounds.
Oct 24 - 7:25 PM

Andrew Wiggins (lower back) will not play on Friday.

It would have been nice to see Wiggins get another game in before the season, but he should be ready to go. It's not clear if he's going to start, but the Wolves really need him to create. He should be an option in the middle rounds due to his upside, but fantasy owners won't want to reach too much.
Oct 24 - 6:52 PM

Anthony Morrow (knee) will miss the start of the season due to a sprained left MCL.

Ouch. The Thunder are having a rough October on the wing and this news basically means Andre Roberson and Perry Jones will be the starting wings, assuming the team wants to bring Reggie Jackson off the bench. The Thunder have not made a prognosis, but it could be at least a couple weeks until Morrow is back. Fantasy owners can give Jones a look in 14-team leagues, Roberson in 16-teamers and Jeremy Lamb in deep leagues. Russell Westbrook is going to be busy.
Oct 24 - 5:24 PM

Rajon Rondo (hand) went through a full practice on Friday without any setbacks.

There is a chance he can play in the opener on Wednesday. Rondo has been doing some non-contact practice and there shouldn't be any conditioning issues, so it's likely a 50/50 call right now. He still had the worst season of his career last year, so there is still some question to his output on a per-game basis.
