Caron Butler (shoulder) participated in shootaround, but is again a game-time decision on Friday against the Nets

Butler sat out Wednesday's game with the injury, opening the door for Matt Barnes to play 43.5 minutes on his way to 19 points (7-of-17 shooting, two treys) with nine rebounds, four steals and a block. If Butler is out again on Friday, owners in daily leagues should give Barnes a look as a spot play.

Dwight Howard played 43 minutes in an overtime win over the Nuggets on Wednesday with 24 points, 16 boards, one assist and four blocks on 7-of-16 from the field and 10-of-15 from the line.

The Rockets starters lived at the charity stripe with 48 attempts while their bench didn't have any. As for Howard, he was as dominant as he has been all season and helped keep the Nuggets out of the paint. His 43 minutes are a very encouraging sign and his fantasy owners should have some shred of confidence in him now. Of course, it makes a lot of sense to sell high considering how much time he missed from an injury that came out of nowhere.
Dec 18 - 3:29 AM

Wilson Chandler was outstanding against the Rockets during a 115-111 overtime loss on Wednesday with 23 points, six rebounds, one steal, one block and five 3-pointers.

He keeps putting up big lines and coach Brian Shaw will continue to play him huge minutes. Over his last five, Chandler has averaged 16.2 points, 6.4 boards, 1.0 steals and 2.6 triples. His fantasy owners can consider him a must-start guy, but a trade would really hurt his fantasy value.
Dec 18 - 3:19 AM

DeAndre Jordan abused Roy Hibbert for 15 points, 23 rebounds and two blocks on 4-of-8 shooting on Wednesday.

He hit just 7-of-15 shooting, but you don't care about his free throw percentage if you own him, as his struggles from the line are not a surprise, nor is he going to improve from there any time soon. DJ's line will be overshadowed by what Andre Drummond did tonight (19 points, 24 rebounds, four steals, three blocks), but Jordan's line was certainly noteworthy. Make a note to play opposing centers against Hibbert and the Pacers going forward.
Dec 18 - 2:52 AM

Damian Lillard made 10-of-18 from the field for 29 points with three rebounds, seven assists, two steals and four 3-pointers in 37 minutes during a 104-97 victory over the Bucks.

After a brief slump, Lillard is getting hot again. Over his last four games, he's averaged 26.3 points, 5.3 boards, 5.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 3.0 triples on 48.1 percent from the field and 89.5 percent from the line. Lillard still hasn't missed a single game in his NBA career and is averaging 2.5 treys per game in his career, too. He's a No. 1 fantasy point guard.
Dec 18 - 2:49 AM

Thomas Robinson excelled in his first start of the season on Wednesday during a win over the Bucks, scoring 15 points with 16 boards, one steal, one block and four turnovers in 29 minutes.

The Bucks did a Hack-A-Rob strategy late in the game, so he only made 5-of-15 from the line. Robinson had a couple bright spots last season while the Blazers were missing LaMarcus Aldridge, but he had a number of disappearing acts, too. Coach Terry Stotts said he's going to be mixing up his lineups, so this is not the new norm for Robinson. We'll need to see it again before signing off on him as a pickup in standard leagues.
Dec 18 - 2:34 AM

Brandon Knight scored a team-high 24 points during a 104-97 loss to the Blazers on Wednesday, adding three rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers.

He made 10-of-19 from the field and turned the ball over four times for a usage rate of 34.0, which is Russell Westbrook territory and Knight's third highest of the season. Knight is not going to get a big increase in playing time, but his fantasy owners can expect him to take more shots.
Dec 18 - 2:23 AM

Khris Middleton scored 17 points in 33 minutes against the Blazers on Wednesday with three rebounds, three steals and four 3-pointers.

He started the second half with Giannis Antetokounmpo (ankle) going down in the second quarter. Middleton is certainly going to benefit with the injury to Jabari Parker (knee) and does have a usage rate of 20, so he's worth a look in standard leagues. His prospective owners just need to remember that coach Jason Kidd runs some wild rotation and Antetokounmpo's injury is not serious.
Dec 18 - 1:59 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo's left ankle injury is not considered serious and there is a chance he plays against the Kings on Thursday.

This is great news. The Bucks absolutely need Antetokounmpo back with Jabari Parker (knee) out for the season. Obviously, this positive outlook could change quickly and he is very questionable to play in a late game. If he's out, Khris Middleton would start and have decent value in standard leagues. Jared Dudley would also gain value.
Dec 18 - 1:43 AM

Marc Gasol hit a 3-pointer off the glass at the buzzer to send Wednesday's game to overtime, finishing with 26 points, nine rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks in 46 minutes.

The Grizzlies pulled out a huge 117-116 win in triple overtime and are suddenly the hottest team in the NBA after back-to-back wins against the Warriors and the defending champs. As for Gasol, his knee injury is behind him as he makes a case for MVP. He's flirting with first-round value in standard leagues.
Dec 18 - 1:38 AM

Mason Plumlee made another start for Brook Lopez (back) and had a career-high 23 points, eight rebounds and two blocks on 9-of-13 shooting in Wednesday's loss.

Plumlee got off to a dreadful start when Bro-Lo went down, but has now scored 21 and 23 points in his last two games. He's a free throw killer and hit just 5-of-11 of them tonight, but as long as Lopez is out, Plumlee should be in your lineup. He's averaging 16.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks over his last five games, but is shooting just 43 percent at the line during that stretch.
Dec 18 - 1:38 AM

Dwyane Wade hit 12-of-19 shots for a season-high 42 points to go along with four rebounds, three assists and two 3-pointers in Wednesday's loss to the Jazz.

The bad news is he hit just 16-of-21 free throws and committed six turnovers, but the fact he played so well in a pair of back-to-backs (while battling an illness tonight) speaks volumes. The Heat are off until Friday, so hopefully Wade is able to get some rest and will be ready to go. He had 28 on Tuesday against the Nets.
