Charlie Villanueva came off the bench to hit 7-of-8 shots and four 3-pointers for a season-high 19 points, six rebounds and a block in an easy win over the Suns.

The teams cleared their benches in the second half and Villanueva took advantage of the extra minutes and played a season-high 21. He's hit double figures in three straight games, knocking down nine 3-pointers over that stretch. We still don't trust him, but if he keeps getting minutes and hitting his shots, he's worth a look if you need a big man who can hit treys.

Aaron Gordon (calf) is listed as out in preliminary injury report for Sunday's game vs. the Pistons.

Gordon suffered a right calf strain in the second half of Friday's loss to the Blazers and was unable to return to the game. Gordon is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday, and we are still awaiting the results. Evan Fournier (ankle) is also listed as out for Sunday's game. Jonathan Isaac and Arron Afflalo (back) are listed questionable. Mario Hezonja will likely draw another start on Sunday.
Dec 16 - 1:20 PM

Clint Capela (left heel contusion) is listed as questionable in the game notes for Saturday's matchup vs. Milwaukee.

Capela unexpectedly popped up on the injury report Saturday. This is solely a game-notes designation, and we have not yet heard from coach Mike D'Antoni or Capela regarding the injury. Nene (rest) was expected to sit out Saturday's game, as it is the second night of a back-to-back. If both Capela and Nene are sidelined on Saturday, Tarik Black would likely start and log a season-high in minutes. Ryan Anderson would also see time at center as a stretch-five. We'll pass along an update on Capela once it's available.

Rudy Gobert has been diagnosed with a sprained PCL in his left knee and a bone bruise in his tibia and is expected to be sidelined for one month, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo.

There was some hope late Friday night that Rudy was only dealing with a Grade 1 MCL sprain, but this report obviously indicates it's a far more serious injury. Derrick Favors (eye) put up terrific numbers when Gobert was sidelined in November. Although Favors received six stitches on Friday and is questionable for Saturday's game, he is undoubtedly the biggest beneficiary in terms of fantasy value over the next month. Ekpe Udoh and Jonas Jerebko will also see an uptick in minutes.
Dec 16 - 12:52 PM

Chandler Parsons (rest) has been ruled out of Saturday's game vs. Boston.

It's certainly not surprising to see Parsons sidelined on Saturday, as he played Friday and has not suited up for both ends of a back-to-back all season. In addition, he has been battling back pain this week. Parsons has shown occasional flashes of upside this season, but his minutes limit and frequent resting significantly reduce his fantasy value.
Dec 16 - 12:49 PM

Tyreke Evans (right hip) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game vs. the Celtics.

Evans did not play Wednesday but looked solid in his return to the lineup on Friday night. He finished with a game-high 22 points, three assists, two rebounds, one steal and four triples in 30 minutes. We will likely have to wait until coach J.B. Bickerstaff addresses the media 90 minutes before tipoff to receive a final update on Evans's status for Saturday's contest.
Dec 16 - 12:48 PM

Derrick Favors (left eye laceration) "will probably attempt to play" in Saturday's game vs. Cleveland, according to Jazz reporter Tony Jones.

Favors received six stitches after getting hit in the face on Friday night and was unable to return to the game. The Jazz could certainly use Favors on Saturday, as they will be without Rudy Gobert (knee), who was also injured in Friday's victory over the Celtics. We should expect an update on Favors status later this afternoon. If Favors is unable to suit up, Ekpe Udoh will likely start and play all the minutes he can handle.
Dec 16 - 12:31 PM

Coach Rick Carlisle said Dennis Smith Jr. (hip) is "getting closer and closer" and could return for Monday's game vs. Phoenix.

Smith has already been ruled out of Saturday's contest vs. the Spurs. However, he will have an individual workout on Saturday in San Antonio before the game. If Smith looks solid in workouts this weekend and avoids a setback, he may be on track to play Monday vs. the Suns. The Mavs also play on Wednesday and Friday of next week. We should have a complete update by Monday afternoon.
Dec 16 - 12:17 PM

Gary Harris scored 21 points during a 117-111 overtime win over the Pelicans on Friday, adding two rebounds, five assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 43 minutes.

He's just incredible and his passing was on display yet again. Harris is almost at five assists per game this month, which doubles his 2.3 dimes in November. Although, Nikola Jokic not playing has to be a factor here, but Harris does produce in pick-and-roll sets at 70th percentile in PNR plus passes (135 possessions, per Synergy). There's no stopping Harris right now and he's looking like a lock for early-round value, assuming he's healthy.
Dec 16 - 3:08 AM

Nikola Jokic (ankle) returned on Friday with 13 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and one 3-pointer in 22 minutes off the bench against the Pelicans.

There were some clear restrictions and he only was used in a couple situational spots in overtime with one of those times being an inbounds pass. Coach Mike Malone held him out on Wednesday, saying it was more about the mental concerns. Jokic did look rusty in his first stint, but he looked much better as the game went along. He'll get Saturday and Sunday off before he gets the Thunder in OKC on Monday. The Nuggets get four fun road games next week against OKC, Minnesota, Portland and Golden State.
Dec 16 - 2:44 AM

Will Barton got hot late against the Pelicans on Friday, finishing with 19 points, four rebounds, six assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

It was a Thriller night in OT as Barton scored 11 of the Nuggets' 13 points in overtime, including the first 10 points. With Emmanuel Mudiay (ankle) going down, that should mean we see even more Barton at the one, which has been a key wrinkle of coach Mike Malone's rotation this season. Barton was in discomfort at times during this game and maybe he's not 100 percent after a back injury kept him out Wednesday, but he's a must-start player in fantasy right now.
Dec 16 - 2:30 AM

Trey Lyles scored 19 points with seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and four 3-pointers in 30 minutes against the Pelicans on Friday.

He played the entire overtime period and all of the fourth quarter to help get this comeback win. We know coach Mike Malone is all about the hot hand approach, and Lyles certainly has it with at least 26 minutes in four straight, averaging 18.3 points, 5.5 boards, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 3.3 treys on a pristine 79.1 TS% in those four. He's creeping onto the radar in standard leagues in a hurry, so give him a look if you don't like the guy at the end of your bench.
