The "safe estimate" for Dirk Nowitzki to return from knee surgery remains mid-December.

We learned that December 18 was identified as a target date, and although the Mavs have a timetable for Nowitzki's return, the team is not disclosing it publicly. Friday marks the six-week mark since Nowitzki had surgery, and when he initially had the procedure done, the team said he'd be sidelined for at least that amount of time. We're likely looking at a late December return for Dirk.

Stephen Curry is going through shootaround on Wednesday wearing a right elbow sleeve, but he will play and see his normal amount of minutes in Game 5 vs. the Rockets.

Curry had a scary fall in Game 4 and appeared to hit his head, shoulder and elbow, but he said that he feels fine and that he is dealing with some bruising and general soreness on the right side of his body. For what it's worth, Curry passed the league's concussion protocol twice before he re-entered Monday's game, and he seemed to be fine after that. His elbow could be a little sore, so it will be interesting to see if it has any impact on his shooting stroke. We will pass along any additional details when we know more, but it's safe to activate him in fantasy leagues.

Beno Udrih will undergo ankle surgery and will not play with the Slovenian national team at Eurobasket this summer.

We don't have a lot of details right now, but it is likely a minor procedure. Udrih played through an ankle issue during the playoffs, but the fact that he won't play with the Slovenian national team means that he will have plenty of time to recover. As always, we will track his progress closely and will update his status once more is known.

Al Horford was invisible during the Hawks' season-ending Game 4 defeat, scoring only two points on 1-of-6 shooting with two rebounds, five assists and one block in 29 minutes.

Horford avoided a suspension for his flying elbow to Matthew Dellavedova's neck in Game 3, but that's where the good news ended. He looked passive on Tuesday, at best, and all but two of his field goal attempts came from mid-range. He shot 58.3 percent in the series but attempted only 9.0 shots per game, giving him a usage rate below 19 percent. Fantasy owners shouldn't let Horford's Conference Finals dud dissuade them on draft day next season, as he's in a contract year and has returned top-20 value in each of the past three seasons when healthy.

Paul Millsap had 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists during Game 4, in which the Hawks were swept out of the playoffs with an 88-118 defeat.

A report on Tuesday suggested that Millsap, an impending free agent, may need offseason surgery to repair his sprained right shoulder. The injury clearly plagued him throughout the playoffs -- he led the Hawks with 16.7 points and 7.8 rebounds during the regular season but was down to just 13.8 points on 34.9 percent shooting vs. the Cavs in the Conference Finals. We should have a medical update within a few weeks.

Kyrie Irving returned from a two-game absence to finish Tuesday's series-clinching victory with 16 points (6-of-11 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), two 3-pointers, four rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in only 22 minutes.

Irving was medically cleared to play and the Cavs opted to start him for a few reasons -- they wanted him to re-establish a rhythm and regain confidence in his knee, and Irving himself was eager to get back on the court. He moved well and avoided any setbacks despite taking a few falls throughout the game, and should benefit enormously with the Finals not beginning until June 4. We'll have copious updates on his health in the coming week, but he should be raring to go for Game 1.

LeBron James led the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals with a 118-88 win in Cleveland on Tuesday, scoring 23 points with nine rebounds, seven assists, two steals, one block and only one turnover in 29 minutes.

LBJ needed IVs after Game 3 to help with dehydration and cramping, but he wasn't worse for the wear in a thoroughly dominant performance tonight. The Hawks threw a variety of defenders at LeBron but never found a way to slow him down in the series -- amazingly, James fell only three assists shy of averaging 30-10-10 in the Conference Finals. He and teammate James Jones are now the first players since the 1960s to appear in five consecutive NBA Finals, and LeBron will have eight full days to rest before squaring off vs. the Warriors or Rockets.

Dwight Howard will not be suspended for hitting Andrew Bogut above the shoulders during Game 3 on Monday.

The play earned Dwight Howard a Flagrant-1 foul and the Rockets are fortunate that he was neither ejected nor suspended for his swipe at Bogut. NBA executive Rod Thorn said in a statement, "Howard was trying to extricate himself from Bogut and recklessly hit him in the face with an open hand. The contact was unnecessary but was not deemed excessive ... we don't see a reason to modify that call." Howard will try to help the Rockets extend their season during Wednesday's must-win road game.

Kyle Korver said he will undergo surgery on his severely sprained right ankle on Wednesday.

Korver sustained his ankle injury on a controversial play involving Matthew Dellavedova, who has also had postseason altercations with Taj Gibson and Al Horford. Dellavedova isn't making a lot of friends outside of Cleveland this postseason, and the Hawks may look to play some "aggressive" defense against him during Tuesday's do-or-die Game 4 in Cleveland. Hawks' coach Mike Budenholzer said he will discuss Korver's "situation" during his pregame availability, so we expect to get a rough estimate on Korver's recovery period then. Stay tuned.

Stephen Curry went through the league mandated concussion protocol testing twice before he re-entered Game 4 on Monday.

"At the very, very end, when he passed the tests, then it became ‘there’s no reason he couldn’t play,’" Warriors' GM Bob Myers said. "So then it was, he passed the tests, passed them once, passed them twice… At that moment, he looked at me, said, ‘Yeah, I’m ready to go.’" There haven't been any reports of Curry experiencing any delayed concussion-like symptoms, so at this point it would seem safe to assume he'll be in uniform for Wednesday's Game 5 in Oakland.

Paul Millsap may require surgery on his sprained right shoulder this offseason, according to sources of Howard Beck.

The shoulder injury caused Millsap to miss five games back in early April, and it reportedly never fully healed. This perhaps could explain why Millsap is shooting just 40.8 percent from the field this postseason, a stark contrast from the 47.6 percent clip that he shot during the regular-season. It'll be interesting to see if Millsap does indeed go under the knife when the offseason hits, and this is a story we'll be following closely.
May 26 - 3:56 PM

The Nets may explore the marketplace for Mason Plumlee this offseason, according to sources of Marc Stein.

Plumlee's trade value isn't great right now, and with his yearly salary very affordable, it wouldn't make much sense for them to move him. We'll continue to follow this story closely over the course of the offseason, but at this point, it doesn't seem likely Plumlee will be the guy who is sent elsewhere. Jarrett Jack, Joe Johnson, and Deron Williams have all popped up in the rumor mill as trade candidates, and they are the most likely players to be dealt. Plumlee's fantasy value isn't great playing behind Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young.
