Sasha Pavlovic (quad) and Victor Claver will start for injured Nicolas Batum (back) and Wesley Matthews (hip) on Monday against the Raptors.

Pavlovic and Claver don't profile nearly as well as Will Barton and Luke Babbitt, but it's possible that Terry Stotts didn't want to disrupt his bench rotation and that he'll ride Barton and Babbitt tonight. All four players will be risky spot-plays, but somebody will have to produce with Batum and Matthews out.

Russell Westbrook triple-doubled on Thursday during a 105-84 win over the Knicks on Thursday, making 7-of-12 from the field for 21 points, 10 rebounds, 16 assists, one block and seven turnovers in 33 minutes.

He had some help and his NBA all-time record 40.8 usage rate from 2016-17 plummeted to 27.8 today. Although, his efficiency was outstanding and the OKC offense was flying at a 107.5 pace. Also unlike last year, he had help almost the entire time with either Carmelo Anthony or Paul George next to him for 32 of his 33 minutes, and was with both for 19. Westbrook won't be blowing us away in the scoring department like late last year, but he's still going to post some big lines for his fantasy owners.
Oct 20 - 12:57 AM

Paul George scored 28 points with six rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and six 3-pointersin 39 minutes against the Knicks on Thursday.

As expected, he fired away from deep with 13 attempts from beyond the arc and he even had a 27.6 usage rate in this game -- 29.0 last year. If you're wondering how the staggering worked, PG played 28 minutes with Carmelo Anthony, 30 with Russell Westbrook, 19 with both, and didn't log any time without either of them. George could be a darkhorse to be a top-five player in 3-pointers and should may only take a small hit in fantasy compared to last year.
Oct 20 - 12:50 AM

Carmelo Anthony made 8-of-20 from the field for 22 points with one rebound, one assist, two steals, two blocks and three 3-pointers in 34 minutes against the Knicks on Thursday.

While the efficiency wasn't there, Melo was still able to get to a 30.4 usage rate in this game. He actually wasn't staggered too much with 28 total minutes next to Paul George, 22 total minutes next to Russell Westbrook, and just 2.8 minutes with neither of them. It's going to be awfully tough to flirt with a 30 usage rate and maybe going against the Knicks helped, but for now Melo's fantasy owners should be satisfied.
Oct 20 - 12:43 AM

Steven Adams filled up the stat sheet against the Knicks on Thursday, making 5-of-5 from the field for 12 points with five rebounds, one assist, three blocks and five steals in 30 minutes.

All five of his shots were within eight feet with two alley-oops and two dunks, so expect the Thunder to give him easy shots on offense. Overall, Adams finds himself in a better position this year with Enes Kanter gone, and the team probably can't get away with using Patrick Patterson at center for more than 15 minutes or so. That means Adams has a chance to increase his 29.9 minutes per game from last year. He has some fantasy value for field goal percentage, boards and defensive stats.
Oct 20 - 12:36 AM

Kristaps Porzingis scored 31 points during a 105-84 loss to the Thunder on Thursday, adding 12 rebounds, one assist, one block and two 3-pointers.

He'll probably have to get used to these bad losses and he was busy with his 11-of-25 shooting line. Porzingis said his goals this year are to make the playoffs, win Defensive Player of the Year, win Most Improved Player and make the All-Star team. He probably has no shot at one of those and it'll be really tough for him to get to three of those goals because the Knicks defense is going to be a mess, but KP could have strong enough numbers to be a monster Unicorn this year.
Oct 20 - 12:12 AM

Frank Ntilikina failed to score in his NBA debut against the Thunder on Thursday, adding one assist, one turnover and two fouls in eight minutes.

He didn't check in until the second quarter and is behind Ramon Sessions and Ron Baker. Hey, there's a gigantic billboard near Madison Square Garden with Ntilikina on it, so why not put Sessions and Baker ahead of him on the depth chart? Kidding aside, his knee injury in the preseason has probably stagnated his growth, so it's only a matter of time before he gets double-digit minutes. It could take a long time and he's likely going to be extremely raw, so it's no lock he has fantasy value this season.
Oct 19 - 11:30 PM

Willy Hernangomez scored three points in four minutes against the Thunder on Thursday.

Sadly, he didn't check in until garbage time. There was a good chance this was going to happen because coach Jeff Hornacek had Hernangomez as the third center in the dress rehearsal game during the preseason. After the game, the coach said Enes Kanter and Kyle O'Quinn earned their minutes, but nothing is set in stone. In other words, Hernangomez may not play in the short term and is more of a stash in fantasy, but the Knicks not winning games should speed up the process to get him out there.
Oct 19 - 11:25 PM

Jonas Valanciunas busted out during a 117-100 win over the Bulls on Thursday, scoring 23 points with 15 rebounds, two assists and two steals in 31 minutes.

Among centers, he was arguably the most pleasant surprise in the preseason, so he just kept the foot on the gas here. The Raptors have been hoping Valanciunas dominates inside for years, so maybe this is the year he finally gets the message. After he ended last season with a steep downward trend, apparently Newton's third law may apply here. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Keep him rolling.
Oct 19 - 11:20 PM

Norman Powell made the start against the Bulls on Thursday with 15 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and three 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

He was on fire early with 10 points on 125.0 eFG% to kick it off, so this line could've been better -- C.J. Miles was hot, as well. Powell is always running out in transition and he did attempt six treys, so he definitely fits what the Raptors are trying to do. It would appear he has his starting job locked up and he should get minutes in the 25-29 range, so he should be owned in standard leagues.
Oct 19 - 11:00 PM

C.J. Miles scored 22 points with five rebounds and six 3-pointers in 20 minutes against the Bulls on Thursday.

"You had one job" isn't just an internet diss, it's also basically how you describe C.J. Miles. He'll be chucking for just about all of his minutes on the bench, especially with how the Raptors said they want to change their culture with more treys. His output in 3-pointers automatically puts him on the board in standard leagues, so give him a look if you have something to cut and he fits your team.
Oct 19 - 10:52 PM

Delon Wright scored 13 points with two rebounds, five assists and one steal against the Bulls on Thursday.

He actually checked in behind DeMar DeRozan in the first quarter, but he also picked up some point guard minutes, as well. This isn't out of the ordinary to see minutes at two spots and perhaps coach Dwane Casey's confidence in Wright is why the Raptors were OK with letting some of their guard depth go. We've seen him rack up defensive stats at times, so he's a player that should be on most watch lists or even added in deeper leagues.
