Kyle Lowry left Monday's game during the first minute of the second half due to a shoulder injury and is questionable to return.

Lowry is back on the bench and flexing his right hand, but the latest reports have his right shoulder as the issue. Add this to the ankle problem and you have an officially injury prone player. Jose Calderon will be a must-start player if Lowry misses any time, and with Lowry still out of the game at the end of the third quarter there is a chance that the injury could cause an absence.

Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said Chris Paul was "playing on one leg" against the Warriors on Tuesday.

Paul scored just four points on 2-of-9 shooting in his Houston debut, but he did hand out 11 assists with eight rebounds, two steals and a block in 33 minutes. Paul was bothered by a shoulder and knee issue in the preseason, and it sounds like the latter bothered him tonight. "[CP3 was] dragging his leg a little bit, I had to get him out of there," D'Antoni said after the game -- the Rockets pulled him with five minutes left in regulation in a very close game. We'll put him on the injury report and consider him questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Kings.
Oct 18 - 1:51 AM

Nick Young scored 20 points in 13 minutes for the Warriors and finished the game with 23 points, two rebounds and six 3-pointers on 8-of-9 shooting in 26 minutes off the bench in Tuesday night's opener.

Young did most of his damage in the first half, when the Warriors opened up a 17-point lead, but the Rockets clawed back for the win as Draymond Green sat out the fourth quarter with a strained left knee. Young was fantastic tonight, but we're not ready to declare him a waiver-wire god just yet. He won't shoot it this well on most nights and Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Green will be much more lethal going forward. Just keep an eye on Swaggy P for now. And let's not forget that Andre Iguodala was on the shelf for this one with a sore back.
Oct 18 - 1:50 AM

James Harden was phenomenal in Tuesday's season-opening 122-121 win over the Warriors, scoring 27 points on 10-of-23 shooting.

With Harden leading the way, the Rockets overcame a 17-point deficit and went on a 10-3 run in the final 3:45 of the game. Harden still ran the offense a ton next to Chris Paul, dishing out 10 assists with six rebounds, one steal, four 3-pointers and three 3-pointers in 36 minutes. Even though he's sharing the backcourt with a future Hall of Famer, there's no reason why Harden can't be a top-5 fantasy asset in most formats.
Oct 18 - 1:45 AM

P.J. Tucker looked like a stud in his Houston debut on Tuesday vs. Golden State, scoring 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting (4-of-6 FTs) with six rebounds, one steal and four 3-pointers in 29 minutes.

Tucker was brought to Houston for matchups like these and he could be an X-Factor in the playoffs for his ability to guard players such as Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant and LeBron James. He was a leader tonight and he'll get plenty of minutes with his ability to play multiple positions, but he probably won't have too many big scoring nights like this one. We won't call him a must-own player after one big game, but he's off to a great start and is worth a look if you're targeting rebounds, triples and steals.
Oct 18 - 1:37 AM

Draymond Green took a shot to his left knee at the end of the third quarter, shot some free throws, and then headed to the locker room with a left knee strain in Tuesday's opener. He will not return to the game.

Green was clearly in pain and struggled to shoot his free throws after being fouled, then quickly headed to the locker room to be checked out. This injury could go in any direction so it's simply too early to predict a timetable. Hopefully the Warriors are just being cautious with him and he'll be ready to go for Game 2, but obviously, his owners will want to keep a close eye on the news feed over the coming days. David West and Jordan Bell will absorb his minutes, but neither player is a hot waiver wire pickup at this point. For the record, Green told ESPN "I'll be good. I'm fine," after the game.
Oct 18 - 1:02 AM

Jaylen Brown put on a show with a career-high 25 points in Tuesday's loss to Cleveland.

Brown started at shooting guard, but shifted to small forward when Gordon Hayward left the game with a gruesome leg injury. He not only played great defense on LeBron, but he was attacking the rim relentlessly and his athleticism helped him get a lot of easy looks in transition including some monster dunks. He finished 11-of-23 from the field and 1-of-2 from the line with six rebounds, three steals and two triples (on nine attempts) in 40 minutes. He's looking at heavy minutes this season and proved tonight that he was the worth the gamble in the later rounds. If he's on the wire, change that.
Oct 17 - 11:36 PM

Kyrie Irving scored 22 points in his return to Cleveland on Tuesday, adding 10 assists, four rebounds, three steals and four 3-pointers in 39 minutes.

Irving hit 8-of-17 shots and 2-of-2 from the line, but posted a usage rate of just 21.5. That's likely to go way up with Gordon Hayward (ankle, leg) potentially out for the season, so that's not a concern moving forward. As long as Irving can stay healthy, expect him to flirt with first-round numbers in 9-category leagues.
Oct 17 - 11:28 PM

Marcus Smart started the second half of Tuesday's 102-99 loss to Cleveland and stuffed the boxscore with 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, two blocks and two turnovers.

He missed all four of his 3-pointers and was 0-of-9 from the field in the first half, but he came to play in the second half. Smart also showed off an array of post moves and toasted Kyle Korver on a couple of possessions. His field goal percentage (5-of-16 tonight) has always been his biggest weakness, but he did show off an improved jumper in the preseason and he's way more explosive after losing about 20 pounds over the summer. With Gordon Hayward (ankle, leg) looking at a potentially season-ending injury, Smart is locked into big minutes and should be owned in most leagues.
Oct 17 - 11:22 PM

Dwyane Wade was held to eight points on 3-of-10 shooting in Tuesday's season-opening win over Boston.

He added three assists, one rebound, one block and four turnovers in 29 minutes. The numbers don't tell the whole story, as Wade still looked spry at the age of 35. The Cavaliers used him as the starting SG and the backup PG, so he should have some decent value. The only concern is that the Cavs may monitor his workload throughout the season and that includes maintenance days -- the eventual return of Isaiah Thomas (hip) will hurt him too.
Oct 17 - 11:02 PM

Derrick Rose shot just 5-of-14 from the field in his Cavaliers debut vs. Boston on Tuesday, finishing with 14 points, four rebounds, two assists, one triple and two turnovers in 30 minutes.

Coming off yet another knee surgery, Rose still showed some explosion, but his shot selection was poor and his defense wasn't great either. To be fair, he's still adjusting to his new teammates and did have some positive moments as well. Rose's upside obviously isn't great and he was used off the ball a lot, so treat him like a low-end guard in 9-category leagues until Isaiah Thomas (hip) returns around the new year.
Oct 17 - 10:49 PM

LeBron James (ankle) looked terrific in Tuesday's 102-99 win over Boston, scoring 29 points (12-of-19 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs) with 16 rebounds, nine assists, two blocks, one triple and four turnovers in 41 minutes.

All the concerns about his ankle went out the window in the opening minute when LeBron swatted Jayson Tatum's first shot attempt. He'll be 33 in December, but LeBron hasn't lost a step and carried his team down the stretch, scoring 13 of his 29 points in the final quarter. His fantasy owners may have to worry about some maintenance days later on, but he'll be a top-10 fantasy option every time he's active.
