The NBA has suspended DeMarcus Cousins for one game for striking O.J. Mayo in the groin area Monday night.

Cousins maintained it was an accident, but David Stern and company apparently disagreed. This makes for Cousins' second league suspension in a month and his temper is beginning to become a problem. Cousins serve the suspension Wednesday and miss the Kings' game vs. the Bucks. Get him out of your lineup for the time being. Chuck Hayes started the last time Cousins was benched, but probably isn't worth a spot start.

Kevin Love will not play for Team USA this summer because he doesn't want to risk injury, according to the Associated Press.

Team USA announced that Love is not going to play, but obviously did not list a reason for his absence. This is perhaps the strongest piece of evidence that Love very badly wants out of Minnesota. His decision to sit out clearly shows he's trying to do all he can to make sure the Wolves are able to deal him, or he may not want to answer hundreds of questions every day. FOX Sports reported that he wants to go to Cleveland, and the Cavs remain the frontrunners.

The Lakers have reportedly offered Byron Scott their head coaching position, and the two sides are now in the negotiating phase.

Scott has been the frontrunner for the head coaching gig in LA for some time now. He has a history with the Lakers organization, but more importantly, he has the support of Mr. Kobe Bryant. Scott will try to turn the franchise around after a historically bad season in Los Angeles, but with minimal improvement to the Lakers’ roster this offseason that will be a tall task.

Carlos Boozer said on Friday that he's comfortable playing power forward or center.

Based on last season, he doesn't bode well as a center at all. On defense he allowed his man to shoot a combined 52.0 percent on post-ups and as the pick-and-roll roll man. On the other hand, Boozer shot just 38.3 percent in those situations on offense last year (stats per Synergy). He also had a career-low in rebounds per game while posting his second-lowest offensive rebounding rate in his career. The Lakers are going to have to come up with something at center because Jordan Hill isn't capable of playing more than 24 minutes over the course of a season. The 32-year-old Boozer is more of a late-round pick in standard leagues.

Carmelo Anthony said he wants to win and doesn't "care about the money."

"I believe Phil [Jackson] will do what he has to do to take care of that," Anthony said. "I don't think we're that far away." He added it came down to the Knicks or the Bulls in his tough free-agency decision. The Knicks haven't really improved much and you could argue they got worse with the loss of Tyson Chandler. Anthony led the NBA in shots per game last season and he'll likely have a chance to repeat in that department in 2014-15.

Blake Griffin will not play for Team USA this summer at the FIBA World Cup in Spain.

"I want to focus and dedicate 100 percent of my energy on improving and preparing frmo the upcoming season with the Clippers," Griffin said. The Clippers were a bit of a letdown despite seeing Griffin having his best season, DeAndre Jordan breaking out, and Chris Paul becoming a more well-rounded scorer. Griffin's improved free throw shooting makes him a much more fantasy-friendly player to own, making him worth a look in the second round of upcoming drafts.

Ray Allen has not decided on if he's going to play next season.

Obviously that means he hasn't decided on joining up with LeBron James and the Cavs. The Boston Globe reported that Allen is leaning to the Cavs, which is still the most-likely outcome. He'll be coming off the bench on just about any team and he probably won't get more than 10 shots per game.

John Wall will be participating in Team USA camp starting on Monday.

Earlier this month, he was not expected to be on the team, but now he's a very strong bet to play with them this summer. Wall grew as a point guard and not just a scorer this season, leading the NBA in total assists. He'll be one of the best point guards in the NBA for the next decade or so.

The Cleveland Cavaliers announced on Thursday the signing of number one overall pick Andrew Wiggins.

The most notable ramification of the signing is that Wiggins cannot be traded for 30 days. He remains the biggest trade chip in a potential offer for Kevin Love, but for now the hypothetical deal will have to be placed on hold. The Cavaliers also signed their second-round pick Joe Harris, but per league policy, contract details were not released.

Jameer Nelson has committed to signing with the Mavericks, according to Yahoo! Sports.

It's been expected for a couple days now and Nelson will add some depth to the Mavs. They're expected to use Nelson, Devin Harris and Raymond Felton as a three-point guard rotation while they will also spell Monta Ellis. The Mavs are going to have one of the smallest backcourts in the NBA, so it'll be of the utmost importance that Tyson Chandler stays healthy. Nelson is only a late-round flier in standard leagues right now.
Jul 23 - 10:35 PM

The Mavericks have reached an agreement with Al-Farouq Aminu worth $2.1 million over two years, according to CSNNW.com.

They expressed interest in Aminu back on July 1 and they were finally able to get their man. The Mavs desperately need some size on the wings with their very small backcourt, so Aminu fits the bill at 6'9". This is also a big win for them after the debacle with Rashard Lewis' knee. Aminu will likely play both forward spots off the bench, but he's not going to get enough shots to matter in most fantasy leagues.
Jul 23 - 9:24 PM

Jameer Nelson is "on track" to sign with the Mavericks after his meeting on Thursday.

It's a great fit for both sides with the Mavericks having to deal with Raymond Felton while they could also use a guard who is a plus 3-point shooter. Nelson gets a chance to contribute for a contender and should be able to get plenty of chances to score in double figures. His usage rate isn't going to be too high and he's never really put up eye-popping assist totals, so he's more of a late-round pick in fantasy leagues.
